Hello, Tested alpha2, but it still does not boot on PPC32. It was not released, but I have access to it as a mirror admin :-) Does this not releasing mean, that a fixed version will follow soon? [opensuse-factory] Quesiton on java pattern

I'm getting the following message: Problem: pattern:non_oss_java-11.0-14.i586 requires java-1_5_0-sun-plugin, but none of the providers can be installed Solution 1: deinstallation of java-1_6_0-sun-plugin-1.6.0.u3-20.i586 Solution 2: do not install pattern:non_oss_java-11.0-14.i586 Is there a reason why the java pattern requires the 1.5.0 version? Hi, Regarding the bundle-lang files, why there is only one portuguese "flavor". The system could know the difference between the 2 "kinds" of portuguese? Just two small questions concerning the current KDE4 packages from the factory repository: 1. Is kdm4 already used (or usable) as primary display manager? 2. Is it expected behaviour that since a few updates konqueror4 does not render any web page at all? In most cases it only gives "Keine Verbindung zu Rechner www.abcde.com: Unknown error." [opensuse-factory] YaST/zypp dependancy handling question

With 11.0alpha1, I tried (for the first time since that infamous SUSE-release with ZMD ;) to use the yast Package management. I'm simply sick of "smart". However, I don't really get how zypp does the dependancy checks: It always seems to pull in way too many other packages for no obvious reasons in every update. Many of this unwanted packages can be uninstalled afterwards with Yast - seemingly without any dependancy problem, so the question is: Why were they forcibly installed in the first place?? E.g. "doc"-Packages: Yast always insists on installing e.g. kdelibs3-doc, PolicyKit-doc, readline-doc and so on. (For PolicyKit-doc, I yesterday even caught Yast installing a *.i586.rpm-package on my 64bit-system without any kind of warning, something I really dislike, because I had some nasty system failures when 32bit (binary) packages were mistakenly installed by the package management system in former times.) Yast also insists on installing a full 32bit KDE3 subsystem on my 64bit system (with all the dozens of other necessary 32bit libs), although no 32bit KDE app at all is installed. OpenOffice: I prefer a lean installation with only some parts of it, but Yast forrces me to do a pretty full install with every update (all templates, additional english language and so on). I could go on with many more examples. My question is: Am I getting something completely wrong here, or is this intended behaviour of Yast? Is this, because certain patternss are active - and if yes, how do I get rid of them? Because, what good is it to have fine-grained packages if the dependancy check pulls everything nevertheless ;) ? BTW: Is there a way of getting rid of the "bundle-language"-meta-Packages to only install the needed rpms? [opensuse-factory] Firefox 64bit 32bit question (again)

Hello, I know this is a overly and overly discussed topic. But nevertheless ... 11.0 is said to be the base of SLE11. So we need a Java capable browser on x86_64 systems. Here comes why: Remember all those RAID arrays, tape libraries, UPS, ... requiring a Java enabled browser to configure or administrate them. You better don't have them in your normal net, where your workstation is, but in a dedicated private net containing only servers. And no, I don't want to buy an extra machine for that and install a 32bit system on it. So please consider to supply either Firefox or Seamonkey as 32bit packages on a x86_64 installation without the need for manually forcing the packages (and dependencies too) from 64 to 32 bit. I know the standard reason against is "Sun has to give us a 64 bit plugin". But again we need a working Java enabled browser on 64 bit installations.
