Preface: We are trying out a new way to spread status reports on the openSUSE distribution, infrastructure and other topics around openSUSE. They are supposed to help facilicate the openSUSE bi-weekly IRC status meeting (scheduled for tomorrow, 2007-08-29, 6pm CEST). As this is the first attempt, we are looking forward to your feedback and suggestions for improvements! status report: openSUSE distribution, week 35 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - 10.3 Beta2 released in time on 2007-08-23, overall feedback quite mixed, there is still a lot of room for improvement * hot spots: libzypp, dist upgrade, bootloader config, hal, bundle-lang / translation handling, patterns / cd/package layout. - no LiveCD for Beta2, due to time constraints * Beta3 will hopefully ship a LiveCD from day 0 - a couple of late version updates got approved this week, including MozillaFirefox, MozillaThunderbird, seamonkey, wine, samba, bluez-libs. * upgrading a package at this time in the release cycle is going to be very unlikely now. - we are currently preparing for an internal test build, scheduled for 2007-08-29, to get another round of testing for libzypp - way to many open red bugs: 31 blocker, 103 critical * will need to review the critical bugs * if there is anything <critical that needs attention, make sure to set NEEDINFO to cthiel or coolo, to get it onto our radar. - current focus for Beta3: * bundle-lang and friends (translations, l10n) + a proposal on the language addons is coming up tomorrow * patterns / media layout * LiveCD * libzypp Is there anything missing? That is smp kernel and perfectly fits your machine. The sources have to match running kernel, and than nvidia installation will not complain. Although someone removed advice for; cd /usr/src/linux make oldconfig make prepare from article http://en.opensuse.org/NVIDIA in my experience, nvidia installer will not work without at least first 2 lines, ie, changing working directory to /usr/src/linux and than copy of current configuration: cd /usr/src/linux make oldconfig the only line that last version of nvidia installer didn't really needed was 'make prepare' . I added that too, just to make sure that every possible effort is made to have all bits ready. "Hello all I have been running Hyperion (now Oracle) essbase Release 7.1.0 (ESB7100B181) on opensuse (since v10.0) for development, testing and pleasure because my employer currently runs its production version of essbase on Unix (Sun). ######################################## # 1 ######################################## I have sucessfully installed ESB7100B181 on at least 3 different versions of opensuse 10.3 but I have always been unable to run scripts like the one below (see # 4 ExecCalAll below) on openSUSE-10.3-Beta2. ######################################## # 2 ######################################## I am bringing this matter to your attention because with the latest version of opensuse (openSUSE-10.3-Beta2) things have taken a turn for the worst because I am now unable to even run essbase (ESB7100B181). Hello. Maybe you've read about new Updated KDE 4.0.0 Release Schedule http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-core-devel&m=118856879831611&w=2 or http://techbase.kde.org/Schedules/KDE4/4.0_Release_Schedule So, my question is.Is it still necessary to integrate tango icons for YaST when someone uses KDE? I know, that Andreas Jaeger wrote, qoute: "Tango icons in general fit much better to KDE4 than the crystal ones -" in discussion http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2007-07/msg00255.html but could you change your decision?Is really necessery to use Tango icons for KDE users when KDE 4 will be released on the 20.December (and maybe later, who knows) Tango theme for YaST does not really fit with the rest of the KDE desktop. My suggestion: If i use KDE cd, or i choose KDE desktop in installation from DVD, i'll have crystal theme for YaST by default. And if i use Gnome cd, or i choose Gnome desktop in installation from DVD, i'll have tango icons for YaST by default. I think this is possible to create.Or not? Thanks. Hi, Factory users, esp, these who are using the 1-Click install from the openSUSE build service will need to re-add the repo behind http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Factory/standard/ which points now to the yast meta data, instead of the yum meta data. Hey Group; It seems that the DVD vesion that I spent 2+ days downloading with Bittorrent has a bug. I have installed SuSE for about 10 years and the biggest headache has always been "Dependence Check" (DP). I booted 10.3 beta 2 and just about hit <ALT>N on about every case. I finally got to select packages and even the default will not go passed DP check. It is like it is stuck in a loop. This happens with <Accept> or <Try again>. After satisfying Yasts problem and 10 minutes of time the blank "Warning" screen is back I also wonder who set the lists up? Let say I might want sendmail to practice on but exim is to be used. That ends a a forever DP loop. I do see this as a user possible problem and space burner. Someone can run audacity without problems in Opensuse 10.3 beta 1 or 2? After the update to beta 3 in 32 bits, and a fresh install in 64 bits, the problem of the audacity crash continues. As I see they are a open bug about it: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=294693 >From my point of view, the problem is related to GTK_IS_WIDGET.
