No LDAP browser?

I see that gq has been dropped. And luma hasn't been added. So, how does one browse a LDAP server? I don't know the syntax of ldap:/ kio slave in Konqueror. Can anyone help with that?

Hi, for 10.0 syslog for my new PC says: "forcedeth.c: Reverse Engineered nForce ethernet driver..." Is it expected that these reverse engineered drivers are absent in 10.1 for legal reasons? Regards, Ulrich

Adding Factory Repo using rug

I'm having trouble add the service using rug. I'm assuming that I have to use YUM since YAST is not listed as available service type doing "rug st" any help would be great! By the way doing a local net install via NFS worked great! Dave

NetworkManager?

Hi, as the NetworkManager package is not capable of supporting my prism54 card (bug 148210), does someone now whether there are plans for supporting ndiswrapper through NetworkManager? If not, the market for 10.1 will shrink substantially, as at least most notebooks come with wlan cards requiring ndiswrapper for proper function. FMF

Minimal graphical installation - a couple of weird experiences

Just out of curiousity I thought I'd check out a minimal graphical installation. I came across a couple of surprises. It has been communicated that minimal graphical installation only requires cd1. At the desktop chooser screen I clicked other > then minimal graphical install. To my surprise I could see at the package installation screen that cd2 is needed. I figured this might be because I chose Danish language. After installing from cd1 the machine reboots and then asks for cd2 - about 18 megs of packages are installed - none of them having to do with Danish localization - instead the packages installed are among others windowmaker, glibc, rsync, xmset, lsb. I assume this is a bug - but since I've never done a minimal graphical install before I thought it might be me who messed up or misunderstood something. Shall I report it? The other thing that really caught me by surprise was that the installation correctly identified my Phillip 17" tft, 1280x1024. When I installed beta6 on the exact same hardware the other day (KDE standard installation) it threw a 15" no name monitor 1024x768 at me - beta4 and 10.0 do the same thing - but somehow minimal graphical installation of beta6 gets it right. cb400f

Couldn't read CD1

Why does YaST always complain that it can't read CD1 when in fact it can't read an ftp, http or network resource? Surely this is going to be very misleading for new users? When you click on details it says the correct source name, but wouldn't it be better to put the name of the resource that couldn't be read instead of CD1? I've been trying to do a factory update and it keeps barfing on certain files and complaining that CD1 (ftp.gwdg.de) can't be read... It is just getting on my nerves that I keep seeing CD1 when it isn't trying to read a CD ;-) Dave -- "I got to go figure," the tenant said. "We all got to figure. There's some way to stop this. Createrepo gone?

As far as I can see createrepo is not available anymore (on Beta6). Will this be added later, or is it replaced? Or should I open a bugreport? houghi -- Nutze die Zeit. ndiswrapper module dropped for no reason?

Seems, the ndiswrapper module is not part of the OSS distribution anymore. This is based on some basic misunderstanding, I believe. Quoting my comment in Bugzilla: "This is from SourceForge.net: Ndis driver wrapper for the Linux kernel Project Admins: kiszka, pgiri, pof Operating System: Linux License: GNU General Public License (GPL) Therefore: there are no licensing issues around ndiswrapper. If someone "feels" there are since one uses the ndiswapper module to make proprietary drivers availabe for linux one would need to exclude e.g. ghostview or koffice or samba and especially mount, too, since all these pieces of software make proprietary bits and pieces available to linux. mount enables vfat and ntfs, koffice enables MS word files and ghostview even manipulates pdf." I'd be happy to know what others think and recommend around this issue. FMF
