[opensuse-factory] beta1 first glance

Hello, I begin to install the new beta1 from cd. I have just now two remarks: * I appreciate the firmware test on the initial menu. is it possible to save the results in order to give it to bugzilla in case there is a bug? could it be possible to collect automatically all the tests on succeeded installs to build a working hardware database? * in non expert mode, when all is fixed, just before install, Yast gives the size of the needed packages. It should also give the cd numbers right then, so the user would not be obliged to begin the install (and may be erase his disk) without knowing what are the necessary disks. I just note that for a kde install we need cd 1, 2, 3 and 5 (seems not 4), so no need to download immediately the other ones. [opensuse-factory] md5sums for deltas

After applying the beta1 delta to the i386 DVD alpha5 I have a new md5sum but there is no md5sum on the website to verify that the process completed successfully. Is there someone that can add a file showing what the correct md5sum should be after running applydeltaiso on the i386 DVD? [opensuse-factory] Package mangement problems with zmd/rug/KDE updater applet

After the 10.1 package management disaster I quickly switched to smart. But as I'm now sick of all the other (quite ridiculous and seemingly never fixed) problems with smart (German 'umlauts' crash the program, the python gui is dysfunctional most of the time and so on), I yesterday wanted to give the native SUSE package management another chance. (Before, rug, zypp and zen had not even been installed on my box) But this doesn't work to good, too. The KDE updater applet doesn't even connect to the zmd system - when trying to add and remove servers, the program gets stuck fetching the list :(. No installable packages are displayed. So I tried the command line interface, as described in the openSUSE wiki. rug ping gives the following result: ===================== ZMD 7.1.100, Copyright (C) 2006 Novell, Inc. Even after reading the articles in the wiki, I don't quite understand what is happening here... [opensuse-factory] Updating Alpha4 to Factory

I'm trying to update some packages in Alpha4 to Factory. I have added the Factory repository to installation sources and deleted the Alpha4 source. However, when I try to update packages in YaST software management it say "installation source does not contain Alpha4 CD1". Probably the distribution identification string is Alpha4 and does not match with "Factory" that's in the repository. I think there is a quick way to change that identification. [opensuse-factory] Invalid font cache files?

Since a few days I have the following symptom when running SuSEconfig: Executing /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.fonts... Creating fonts.{scale,dir} files ............ /etc/fonts/suse-font-dirs.conf unchanged /etc/fonts/suse-hinting.conf unchanged /etc/fonts/suse-bitmaps.conf unchanged Creating cache files for fontconfig /var/cache/fontconfig: invalid cache file: 5582bcdff229c67b5fec2ece77d58e8f-x86.cache-2 /var/cache/fontconfig: invalid cache file: 5ca8086aeacc9c68e81a71e7ef846b3b-x86.cache-2 ... And so on. Deleting this files and recreating them doesn't help. Hello, i installed new SL-10.1 x86_84, (new CPU;)) and do a import filesystem from a existing fstab. later I have big "permissions Problems" with sh and so on. Now I found the mistake for me ? Is this normal that YaST2 wrote in the fstab /dev/sda2 / reiserfs acl,user_xattr 1 1 /dev/sda6 /SL101 reiserfs user,acl 1 2 /dev/hda1 /SL102 reiserfs user,acl 1 2 /dev/sdb6 /Test ext3 user,acl 1 2 /dev/sda5 /data reiserfs user,acl 1 2 /dev/sdb5 /data1 ext3 user,acl 1 2 /dev/sdb1 /data2 reiserfs user,acl 1 2 /dev/hda2 /data3 reiserfs user,acl 1 2 /dev/hda5 /data4 reiserfs user,acl 1 2 after I change the user,acl to acl,user_xattr the most problems are gone ? -- mit freundlichen Grüßen / best Regards / avec mes meilleures salutation, Günther J. If I go to kmenu -> recently used, I don't see any applications that I have recently used; it's just empty. Am I the only one who sees this?
