suse-factory update with smart / unmount issue

Hello, when doing an update/upgrade of suse-factory with smart like this: smart update smart upgrade everything wents fine, just when i reboot the updated system shows an error during unmounting the root filesystem. During the next bootup, there are many inodes which have to be repaired by fsck due to the unproper unmounted filesystem. Everything runs automagically, but i wonder if there is a way to shutdown and reboot the upgraded system properly. Any idea? Rainer

KHelpCenter not working from applications

I'm fairly new to SuSE, so I don't know if this behavior is expected or not... I've got 10.1 RC3 installed. When I try to access help documentation from an application, for example, by selecting "Help -> Kmail Handbook" while in Kmail, the taskbar shows the KHelpCenter logo and a message that the application is loading, but then after a few seconds it just disappears and no window ever happens. If I have KHelpCenter already opened, then it navigates to the correct documentation. I've noticed this with Kile as well, so it's not unique to Kmail. My SuSE 9.3 desktop doesn't show this behavior, so I'm thinking it might be something new... Thanks, ajl

changes this morning

Hello, What were the changes synced out to factory this morning? There is nothing in ChangeLog... I'm asking this, because I made an install early morning from my local mirror synced during the night. It was nice and quick, about 40 minutes for installing a large number of packages over ftp. Later I saw that there were some updates in factory, so I synced my local mirror again and started a new installation. I started it more than an hour ago, and it's still going. BTW: I hit a bug when looking at 'details': the 'time' column in the middle shows '>2:00:00' and 'remaining' in the upper right corner shows '52:46' constantly. My test machine is a Pegasos PPC. java plugins for 32- or 64-bit seamonkey?

Hi, maybe this is OT, anyway... Some background, motivation: till now my users are using mozilla for browsing and emailing. Mozilla has reached his end of life: [suse:] "If you want to get new versions and features you should switch to SeaMonkey which is also available in that repository." Ok, lets switch to seamonkey! (It is easier to handle with NX: one applikation for browsing and emailing!) I installed the newest 10.0-x86_64 version of seamonkey from the suse project pages at 10.1-RC3-x86_64. The seamonkey ist working. The problem are the plugins!!! Until now I'm not able to get the java plugin working. Any ideas? Shouldn't seamonkey be supported in 10.1 and x86_64? Rupert

RC1 events/0 CPU usage

Hi, I have a shiny new Intel Core Duo T2300 laptop with an nvidia geforce go 7400 graphics chipset. When I boot into Linux, there is a process in 'top' that is showing a 90% average cpu usage and it won't stop. I cannot kill it. There is an events/1 process that is always at 0%. I assume this is something to do with the processor and perhaps acpi, since there are two events processes and my processor has two cores. Any suggestions on what the problem may be? I have tried: 1. running with the basic provided graphics drivers for nvidia and no change 2. running with the nvidia provided graphics drivers and no change other than improved video performance Jon.

Installation probleme on PowerPC (with 10.1 RC1)

Hi ! I have an iMac 233Mhz, first generation. When i boot on the CD 1, and i choose install, after many code line, there is a black screen with white cursor, and, i can't do anythings. But, the rescue mode function, but, without a system installed, it's useless. The network install don't function, i have an error. I have a Kunbutu Linux installed on, so, why i can't install this suse ? Thanks
