[opensuse-factory] fork bomb in kernel-base rpm?

Hi, has anybody allready successfully installed the new kernel-pae-base-2.6.27.1-2.1 it hangs for me at 95%. Looking at it it creates several /bin/bash /usr/lib/module-init-tools/weak-modules2 --add-kernel 2.6.27.1-2-pae every second. By looking at process ids it seems there are about 800 process created every second. Is there allready a solution / bugreport? I don't know who else to write this to... but look at this openSUSE product that has come about. Isn't it grand? I do anything I want to, and with compiz fusion I can flip between desktops with such easy and fluidity. and a 64 bit dual core processor, I don't have to buy the expensive Windows upgrade to get the computer I bought to be used at its full potential. Believe it or not, I'm actually using a Linux environment for commercial graphics work using the Gimp. ... in addition to me being a programmer on the LAMP platform. : Helas, I had to buy a commercial product called Komodo to really organize my thoughts in this coding paradigm. ... it's a great product, but it's a little slow with tool tips, and I really depend on those because I'm completely absent-minded. At any rate... I just wanted to say that Linux has come such a long way since I first started using it 12 years ago (Debian was always my preferred installation, but I've bought copies of both Red Hat and SuSE since then... ) ... openSuSE is by far the best distribution for my needs (and desires). ... admittedly, I prefer gnome over KDE, but GNOME isn't as processor-intensive as KDE is... and since many of the applications that I'm running depend on the GTK library, I felt it was only sensible to run the GNOME environment to leave my processing power open. ... especially since I also run a web server where my clients preview my work from, on the same system. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help(a)opensuse.org

Hi folks, How the DST is set in openSUSE? If uses something upstream or not? I'm asking because in Brazil now we have fixed times to start and end the DST. [opensuse-factory] automatic repo refreshing

Hi, in my 11.1b2 the repos do not automatically refresh when i do the package managfer from yast, although the autorefresh function is activated. This is in virtualbox and on harddisk with i386 version. Hello, since the link for the boot CD image on <http://en.opensuse.org/Development_Version> is broken, I wonder where to find the boot.iso for an internet installation of Factory. [opensuse-factory] New YaST partitioner in Factory

Hi! The factory tree now contains a full rewrite of the YaST partitioning module. It provides much saner GUI environment, especially for handling more complex setups involving RAID, volume management etc. The same interface is used during installation as the expert partitoner. However, the change is rather radical and big also regarding the code change. It would be great to get feedback, both on UI as well as reporting bugs (the known ones are assigned to either Arvin (aschnell) or Bubli (kmachalkova) - please check to avoid reporting duplicates). The package is yast2-storage >= 2.17.8. Enjoy! [opensuse-factory] netconfig doesn't write what's in /etc/sysconfig/network/config to /etc/resolv.conf

Hi, I am on Beta 2 and netconfig doesn't seem to be writing what I have defined in /etc/sysconfig/network/config to /etc/resolv.conf. Anyone else seeing this behavior? [opensuse-factory] nfs server fails to start

Does anyone else see this problem? When I do a 'rcnfsserver start', it always fails with this error message: Starting kernel based NFS server: idmapd mountdstartproc: exit status of parent of /usr/sbin/rpc.mountd: 1 When I run /usr/sbin/rpc.mountd with debugging on, I see this: hal9001:~ # /usr/sbin/rpc.mountd -F --debug all mountd: unable to register (mountd, 1, udp). The service rpcbind is running. Even the simplest of exports just does not work. This happens on two different computers, both with Beta2 installed. Either I am making the same mistake on both computers, or maybe this is a bug? [opensuse-factory] Cannot upgrade 11.0 --> 11.1 beta2

Tried to upgrade (not fresh install) my laptop with 11.0 today and it was a no-go (HP dv9925nr). The first _strange_ thing is the install would hang (forever) unless I held a finger on the touch pad. The cursor would stop blinking until I touched the pad. Once the Installation screen appeared there was no Install Source listed, only a question mark (?). This happened with both a DVD install and an FTP install. I opened a bug report.
