Hi,
I would like to announce that after many years YaST team plan to stop maintaining yast2-dns-server, yast2-dhcp-server and yast2-http-server for tumbleweed[1]. Main reason is that modules showing really its age and noone cares to even report bugs for it. It gets almost no care and just increase effort when we need to do some mass changes. All modules is old ones written in perl without proper test coverage, so any touch is very risky. And its use case is also very discutable. For http-server it is use case from 90's to get quickly setup apache with php mod. For dns server and dhcp server its home usage is no longer relevant and for servers I would say majority of users already use some versioning and deployment system like git + salt usually combined with some CI. If we overlook some non-rare use case for any of these modules please speak up, so we can reconsider it.
For this reason we create delete request for these yast modules[2][3][4]. If there is still someone who finds module useful and willing to maintain it, please contact us. We can give you access to github repo and also move maintainership to you. For Leap 15.X nothing changes and module is still part of it same as for SLE15 codebase.

openSUSE:Factory is using preinstallimage for package builds.
Unfortunately, the generated /etc/hosts in these preinstalled images
breaks installation of netcfg and thus has broken IPv6 support since
generated /etc/hosts lacks entries for IPv6 localhost entries.

Hello,
after update thumbleweed to kernel 6.1.8 X won't start
I'm looking for the reason and find out that the kernel module 'nouveau'
was not loaded, after "modprobe nouveau" X starts as expected.
I found a new file: '/lib/modprobe.d/50-nvidia-default.conf' with
"blacklist nouveau" in first line.
Rename this file to *.bak and after reboot X starts normally.

How will security posture enforcement and monitoring be done with ALP?
Specifically, will Nessus-style security posture scanning be supported?
How about SELinux?
Also, what about end-point security systems, such as McAfee (now Trellix)
Host Based Security System (HBSS) support. Trellix does not yet support
Leap 14.4, which is actually a good thing, because HBSS is a horrible
rootkit
mess that introduces non-deterministic behavior and poor performance into
a normal Linux environment.

I think it was working OK yesterday, so 20230202 seems most likely. On another TW machine, last updated in 2022, the old version kmail3/TW can handle the same mail folder (using NFS to access the same mail folder remotely).
The following was logged, seems to point to protocol issues, but /etc/crypto-policies/back-ends/opensslcnf.config is the same on both new and old TW systems. I tried disabling apparmour, but that didn't seem to help (but maybe I did that wrong - used yast-services and a reboot).

Hi Maintainer,
is it possible to update the version from Qt lib libQuotient [1] from v0.6.11
to v0.7.1 (or newer)?
Background:
As KDE user I use for Matrix the NeoChat [2] App. But this are only able to do
encryption in case the v0.7 from libQuotient is used. Especially if KDE/Plasma
changes from 5.26 to 5.27 in the next days, this will be a big benefit for the
KDE/Plasma fans at openSUSE (according my knowledge in EU and especially in DE
many users use KDE, so it was the default in the past).

Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
During this week, many developers took part in HackWeek, resulting in
resources being deviated from regular distro maintenance to other areas
of interest. I’m certain to see some great outcomes of this hackweek
over the next weeks/months (see for example the thread on Creating a
Leap replacement based on ALP). Of course, Tumbleweed has been keeping
up with all the changes and supports everybody in getting their results
delivered to users. And it did so by delivering the usual 7 snapshots
in a week (0126…0201)
The main changes found in those 7 snapshots were:

major project spanning quite a long period, but it finally ended.

OpenSSL 3.0.x deprecates the use of engines, which is being replaced by
providers. As such librdkafka will emit a deprecation warning if
`ssl.engine.location` is configured. OpenSSL providers may be
configured with the new `ssl.providers` configuration property.
The default value for `ssl.endpoint.identification.algorithm` has been
changed from `none` (no hostname verification) to `https`, which enables
broker hostname verification (to counter man-in-the-middle
impersonation attacks) by default. To restore the previous behaviour, set
`ssl.endpoint.identification.algorithm` to `none`.
* The Consumer Batch APIs `rd_kafka_consume_batch()` and
`rd_kafka_consume_batch_queue()` are not thread safe if
`rkmessages_size` is greater than 1 and any of the **seek**,
* *pause**, **resume** or **rebalancing** operation is performed in
parallel with any of the above APIs. Some of the messages might be
lost, or erroneously returned to the application, in the above scenario.
* It is strongly recommended to use the Consumer Batch APIs and the
mentioned operations in sequential order in order to get consistent result.
* For **rebalancing** operation to work in sequencial manner, please set
`rebalance_cb` configuration property (refer
[examples/rdkafka_complex_consumer_example.c]

amount of memory.
* When a PID epoch bump is requested and the producer is waiting
to reconnect to the transaction coordinator, a failure in a find coordinator
request could cause an assert to fail. This is fixed by retrying when the
coordinator is known (#4020).
* Transactional APIs (except `send_offsets_for_transaction()`) that
timeout due to low timeout_ms may now be resumed by calling the same API
again, as the operation continues in the background.
* For fatal idempotent producer errors that may be recovered by bumping the
epoch the current transaction must first be aborted prior to the epoch bump.
This is now handled correctly, which fixes issues seen with fenced
transactional producers on fatal idempotency errors.
* Timeouts for EndTxn requests (transaction commits and aborts) are now
automatically retried and the error raised to the application is also
a retriable error.
* TxnOffsetCommitRequests were retried immediately upon temporary errors in
`send_offsets_to_transactions()`, causing excessive network requests.
These retries are now delayed 500ms.
* If `init_transactions()` is called with an infinite timeout (-1),
the timeout will be limited to 2 * `transaction.timeout.ms`.
The application may retry and resume the call if a retriable error is
returned.
* Back-off and retry JoinGroup request if coordinator load is in progress.
* Fix `rd_kafka_consume_batch()` and `rd_kafka_consume_batch_queue()` skipping
other partitions' offsets intermittently when **seek**, **pause**, **resume**
or **rebalancing** is used for a partition.
* Fix `rd_kafka_consume_batch()` and `rd_kafka_consume_batch_queue()`
intermittently returing incorrect partitions' messages if **rebalancing**
happens during these operations.
