[opensuse-factory] 42.2 beta1 - An ocasion of "Failed to truncate file to its own size" on boot, 4.4.19-1-default

I am wondering, did anyone get, in beta 1 on boot "Failed to truncate file to its own size: Read-only file system" Since I installed beta 1, three times, in the 10 days of daily booting (sometimes multiple) and operation, I received the message. The system boot does not continue (actually, in one case, this happened while system was running, and everything hang). I am not sure how to analyse and report it, e.g. what logs would keep this message and messages up to the issue. I would file a bug for this, but I do not know what supporting data I would put there. In terms of how the system got booted again: Once I just reset and it worked (I think). But the 2 other times multiple reset did not work. Booting from the install USB, and doing an update worked. I have since started using 4.4.15-1-default and it so far did not happen. But that may be a coincidence. [opensuse-factory] Beta Firefox and Thunderbird

I use beta versions of Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird on Windows, to help with testing etc. I would like to do the same on SuSE Tumbleweed. I cannot find any repos containing the rpms, so I downloaded the versions from the Mozilla web site. Beta Firefox installation was a breeze, and I am able to use it on Tumbleweed just fine with no issues (other than product issues since this is Beta, which are issues I am seeking anyways). Beta Thunderbird though shows no scroll bars at all nor scroll arrows in the scroll region of the window. This does not happen on Windows. I suspect this is a Tumbleweed/XFCE issue and not a Thunderbird issue, since I see many references to these types of issues on Linux distros. However, I not been able to find a fix. Would anyone know the fix or what direction I should be looking in? Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers, Another week with 4 snapshots has passed, sadly some issues managed to sneak in but, as you are used to by Tumbleweed already, we managed to resolve the issues on the mailing list in no time and made sure that upcoming snapshots get the fixes asap. The snapshots published were 0901, 0905, 0907 and 0908. Notable updates in those snapshots: * Mozilla Firefox 48.0.2 and Thunderbird 45.3.0 * Binutils 2.27 * gcc 6.2.1 – The entire distro was rebuilt with this compiler * zsh: was responsible for some users having trouble on login. An update had been provided in the update channel and snapshot 0908 had the definitive fix for it * ntp: the daemon was attempting to reuse the proper user instead of root, as per configuration. Unfortunately, this also caused some headaches, especially notable in long bootups. This change was reverted in 0908 as well * GStreamer 1.8.3 * Pulseaudio brings ofono headset support Unfortunately, none of the two issues we had this week were spotted by openQA: * zsh issues were missed, as all tests run with the default shell configured for the test users, being bash. * ntp issue was not seen as it ‘only’ causes a slow down on boot. openQA is, at this time, not usable as a performance regression test tool (there is too much variation with the virtualisation tools and generally well booked servers) At this point a big ‘thank you’ to all the people involved in tracking down the culprits and discussing solutions for as long as it was needed. [opensuse-factory] Package for sale - Guake

A year ago I tried to sell guake, this is a new try on -factory: X11:terminals/guake is for sale. If anyone wants to step up and take over maintenance of it feel free to request it in the devel-project. The package itself is fairly low in terms of effort needed, but as I no longer use guake myself, and hence neglect it a bit, new hands are preferred. Note that in the last year guake have lagged several releases behind, so there might be a bit more todo in order to bump to current. I declined forward of guake to Leap, both in .1 and now. A new maintainer can reopen that of course. So if you are a Guake user who wants to see Guake in Leap, now is your time to shine. Hello, Running latest KDE frameworks, Qt and applications on Tumbleweed, I'm unable to enter greek accented characters as a normal user. If I launch the same application as root, I can input accented characters. While trying to build openQA in stable project (1) for TW x86_64 and ppc64le (2), I identified at least two problems: * os-autoinst has a missing commit * openQA has unresolvable perl-Mojolicious-Plugin-Bootstrap3 is the stable project (1) really the one to use to download packages as suggested in docs (3) I tried in (2) to bypass these two problems but hit another missing JavaScript::Minifier::XS module when building openQA. After seeing the advantages of the btrfs system I want to convert my second system to btrfs from ext4. Looked into the command and are more than bewildered by the options of choice. I would like to get a system which is similar as the system which I installed recently and which surprised me with the default btrfs. >From the ten options the only I understand is the rollback option. Everything else is too high for me. Which options are set for a default new installation?
