[opensuse-factory] introducing gnulib

Hi everyone ! I would like to introduce gnulib into Factory. "The GNU portability library is a macro system and C declarations and definitions for commonly-used API elements and abstracted system behaviors. It can be used to improve portability and other functionality in your programs." Some gnu projects require it to build correctly, and we can't update some of them because they try to download gnulib and to build it during compilation. I've submitted gnulib to devel: openSUSE:Factory, sr#298336, as I didn't find a more appropriate place. Regards. Is it a known issue? If I go ahead and ignore the dependency, will "npm install" work at all? [opensuse-factory] Darktable fails on Tumbleweed

Is anyone having problems with darktable git builds by Togan Muftuoglu? http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/toganm:/photography/openSUS… I have used his builds for a great time, probably over four years with few problems, but since 6 April and Tumbleweed 20150405 release and darktable-1.7.0.1428334157.3358a8b-1361.1.TM.x86_64.rpm, I only get a dark screen displayed when starting and no control works. Cannot change to full-screen using f11, to darkroom mode or even quit. At first I suspected a bad build but as a usability crutch I maintain a cache of the last ~15 builds and every one fails in the same manner. Versions fail that previously worked for me, prior to Tw 20150405. They also fail with Tw 20150406. I ran "darktable -d all" and posted the debug data to: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/~pat/drktbl.txt and requested debug runs from the developers: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/~pat/drktbl2.txt http://wahoo.no-ip.org/~pat/drktbl3.txt and a list of the changed packages current at the time I noticed darktable failing me (for the first six days of April: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/~pat/changes.txt The darktable developers see no indication of a problem from darktable and suggest the failure is related to OBS. Made trials with clean environment, ie: new library and clean cache, with same result, gray screen. I have installed and can use the 1.6.3 issue from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/graphics/openSUSE_Tumbleweed but the git build are much more feature mature and provide needed function missing from 1.6.3. I experience the same failures on three other boxes with Tumbleweed 20150405+ and darktable from "/home:/togamn:" and the success of darktable 1.6.3. I tried direct mail to Togan but he appears mia ??? How to trouble-shoot, what to do? hi, since last update to snapshot 20150430 i'm hitting problem after problem and don't even know where to look. i've got my X server back up, but now i'm having trouble with multimedia (now i'm missing xf86-video-v4l, which is incompatible with the currently used X). mplayer, mplayer2, mpv all have the same problem: they display 2-3 frames and then the image freezes with sound going on normally. even more ridiculous when the playback of the sound finishes THEN the video will play - without sound of course. an mplayer log: ------------------------------------------- http://paste.opensuse.org/44900694 [VD_FFMPEG] DRI failure. ------------------------------------------- moving on to rhythmbox: playing something works, but once or twice a minute the sound is garbled. its sounds like an empty cassette player AND there is an error (see the end) in terminal output. am i done yet? i wish. there is also the following output when i do `systemctl default` from emergency: ------------------------------------------- PolicyKit Daemon disconnected from the bus. rpm -q rsyslog-doc --requires rsyslog = 8.4.2 Just because I want to read the rsyslog docs doesn't mean I also want to install rsyslog. Or I might want to uninstall rsyslog but keep the docs around. Documentation shouldn't require the installation of the software itself. postfix-doc doesn't either. Problem exists in oS 13.2 and factory. Could someone remove this requirement? Hi, a reworked bogofilter package is on the way to Factory. See https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/304957 for the details. After switching to sqlite3 (only) post-13.2 we cause some trouble to the bogofilter Tumbleweed users. With the new modularized approach - driven by the alternatives mechanism - this will not happen again. By default the db backend has the highest priority. Going this way we ensure to stay compatible while upgrading. Only Tumbleweed users which used bogofilter after Apr 5th and switched over to sqlite3 have to pay some extra attention as their database is will not work with the default db backend. Here are ways to quickly switch to bogofilter-sqlite3: a) zypper in -bogofilter-db bogofilter-sqlite3 This uninstalls bogofilter-db and oulls in bogofilter-sqlite3 or b) switch the alternative to bogofilter-sqlite3 and keep the bogofilter-db package installed too. Hello, I was told on the opensuse(a)opensuse.org list to post this here. Debian GNU/Linux has a program called Mandos, which allows computers with encrypted root filesystem to boot unattended as long as they are in the same LAN segment as the mandos server. If someone steals the computer or copies the storage of an ecrypted VM then they'll still have to enter the password on boot. It needs to install its client in the initrd of the encrypted machine, which is why it only works on Debian GNU/Linux for now. I feel like it would be a great addition to openSUSE GNU/Linux, but it needs a lot of changes in the boot process in order to work. Bug fixes: - Bail out at configure time if the installed M4 is not sufficient for the purposes of libtoolize. - freebsd-elf library versioning was upgraded incorrectly in 2.4.4, but now works properly again. - Fix a 2.4.4 regression so that libltdl subprojects do not warn about missing libltdl/libltdl directory as in prior releases. - When using Sun C++ on Solaris or GNU/Linux we used to set libtool's postdeps permanently, based on the contents of $CXX and $CXXFLAGS at configure time, which was brittle and error-prone. Now, we no longer check for a SunCC ABI at configure time, but augment the postdeps at libtool time based on the current invocation flags on each call. Changes in supported systems or compilers: - /usr/local prefixed rpaths are now added to the link-line on ia64-hp-hpux*, because the default system runtime loader path does not contain them. - Previously, when using Sun C++ on Solaris or GNU/Linux, `-Cstd -Crun` flags were added to $postdeps unless CXX or CXXFLAGS contained `-library=stlport4`.
