[opensuse-factory] is it possible to get console background back with plymouth?

Hi, all, Before 12.2, when we were still using bootsplash package, there's a "feature" that we can have a very cute background in runlevel 3. This is no more in 12.2 with plymouth. Because the background is implemented by a set of kernel patch, bootsplash package and bootsplash-branding-openSUSE. (We have a ready kernel and a ready bootsplash-branding-openSUSE.) Since it's been something existed for almost 5 years. I do really miss it. So is it possible we find a way to get it back? [opensuse-factory] Removing syslog from the default patterns - wasn't this a completely pointless discussion?

Just in case no one else has noticed - there is absolutely no (0, zero) benefit to anyone (user/admin/developer/packager/whoever) in omitting syslog from the default pattern/install. Yet it was suggested and we have been discussing it for quite some time now. I submit it should never have been suggested and certainly not discussed without someone arguing _why_ it is of benefit to the end user and hence worthwhile doing. I think the suggestion was completely pointless and in the end only caused unnecessary consternation among those openSUSE users that have a use for syslog. Created originally for Banco do Brasil, it's now an official Brazilian Government Public Software project, and is used worldwide. Some personal observations: I've been off and on the development of this program since it started back in 2002. It was developed internally for Banco do Brasil as an alternative to x3270 and commercial options at the time, and has Paul Mattes (original x3270 author) "blessing" and invaluable help. It should now have (at least) 100,000 users around the country. This includes Banco do Brasil's own employees, Caixa Econômica Federal (another large state-owned bank). Since it's been released to the public via the Federal Government Public Software Portal in 2009, it has gained traction and spread throughout other regional government offices and private businesses worldwide. It's been on the OBS for almost a year now, and (I believe) the packaging should be up to the standards. Any suggestions are welcome. [opensuse-factory] kernel modules before and after sleep/wake

Hi, I am using Linux abbaton.ucd.ie 3.6.1-1-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Oct 10 19:28:30 UTC 2012 (2a321c4) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux but what I report it happened on all 3.6 version of kernel and maybe 3.5 but I jumped directly from 3.4 I observed that my wireless card (broadcom with the wl) driver sees networks only in certain reproducible situations... for example one of them is like follows. I start the computer the driver seems loaded... the eth1 device is created but it cannot scan any network... I put the computer to sleep... I wake it up... and all the networks appear and I can connect and use the wireless as expected... I was trying to understand what are the differences and what can be the cause of this behaviour... I did a lsmod and sorted the modules loaded in the two situations and they seem to be very different... Wicd is an open source software utility to manage both wireless and wired networks for Linux. Wicd is split into two major components: the daemon, and the user interface. These two components communicate via D-Bus. I maintain wicd on network:utilities devel project. Wicd is a python software, it seems to be in conflict with networkmanager and others ( but who needs to have several network manager ?). It's a great alternative to networkmanager, it's light with basic functions. Wicd is already functionnal. What do you want to mean with "What are your plans going forward with wicd?" ?
