[opensuse-factory] FIBMAP problem solved

Remember when I asked this group about FIXMAP just blastin down my screen. Well it turns out to be a openSuSE kernel that has the error. [opensuse-factory] Focusing on OpenJDK - Sun/Oracle JDK will not be in 12.1

Up to now, openSUSE users had the choice of using openJDK (GPL with classpath exceptions) or Sun/Oracle's Java. The Sun/Oracle Java was licensed under the "Distributor's License for Java (DLJ)", which allowed Linux distributors to package and redistribute Sun/Oracle Java. Recently, Oracle announced [1] that openJDK 7 is the new official reference implementation for Java SE7. They no longer see the need for the DLJ licensed Java implementation and so have retired that license. openSUSE chooses to proceed with distributing the GPL licensed official reference implementation, openJDK. We will no longer distribute newer versions or updates of the now proprietary licensed Sun/Oracle JDK. Existing installations of the Sun/Oracle JDK are still licensed under the now retired DLJ. openSUSE users who wish to continue using the Sun/Oracle JDK (including new versions thereof and updates) should now download directly from http://www.oracle.com/java. For now we keep the current sun-java packages (under the DLJ license) in the Java:sun:Factory project and will not update them anymore. I suggest to document in the openSUSE wiki how to install the Sun/Oracle JDK version from Oracle under openSUSE. [opensuse-factory] No Widget Folder View of Desktop on the Desktop

Previously, also in openSUSE 12.1 M3, logging in for the first time in KDE in the user account, one gets a Folder View of the Desktop folder with some basic icons in it, like My Computer. This is no longer the case. Is this intentionally, an issue others have, or is it something only I see? After creation and changing its position, logging out and in again, the position is in the centre of the screen. Putting it in its intended position again, upper left corner, logging off and on, now it remains in that position. Others having the same issue? -- fr.gr. [opensuse-factory] Segmentation fault in linker?

After the most recent update a segmentation fault happens when building a package in OBS. This happens only for 64-bit build, the 32-bit build finishes well. Hey Group after a reload of today after a defective load from zypper. I now have a new a serious problem and that is some piece of software is eating all of my /home space and it seems a be /usr/bin/nepomukserversup that is causing this error on some line number like 185. It was reloaded today for the same problem I spotted yesterday. The home partition was found to be the problem using "df". [opensuse-factory] Fresh 12.1 M5: Syslog does not start

There is nothing in /var/log/messages, and I found out that syslog daemon is not running. Trying to start it gives this error: /etc/init.d/syslog start returned 5 (program is not installed): I re-installed, no joy. I removed and installed syslog-ng, same result. The strange thing is that this same net-install image installed already another VM without this problem. Installations are completely plain default settings.
