Hello all, Will "webpin" be fixed or will it be removed completely? I have not seen it work in openSUSE 11.4. Can we see it working in the up coming openSUSE 12.1? Cheers! The organization team is excited to announce that the registration for the openSUSE Conference, from September 11 to 14 in Nürnberg, is now open. That means, as flights don’t get cheaper, you have to start planning your days off, your trip, hotel and send in a talk while the CfP is still open! [opensuse-factory] 12.1 M2 and Lotus Notes

Hi, I just installed 12.1 M2 on my Lenovo W520. I experienced some issues with the Notes Client. Installation of Notes 8.5.2FP2 went fine, but there are two problems: - To get "normal" colours in the menu-bar you have to start gnome-settings-daemon first. This problem exists for all gtk-based applications when you are using fvwm as window manager. - The getting started tab is displayed correctly. The Home, Workspace and Replication and Sync tab are simply grey. In the mail-view the subject line of each mail is visible, but the preview pane stays empty. When opening an email in a new tab, the view isn't refreshed. You will still see the picture of the previous active tab. Switching to another desktop and back again leaves you with an all grey image on the mail tab. I use this notesversion without problems on 11.1-Evergreen and SLED11. On both releases I also don't need to start the gnome-settings-daemon to get firefox, pidgin, notes ... displaying "normal" menus when using fvwm. I also noticed, that tapping with the touchpad is possible with KDE. Using fvwm I have to start gsynaptics to use tapping. Using network manager and fvwm seems to be no good idea. I tried to start nm-applet, but it didn't work. Is this supposed to work with fvwm, or just with gnome? Hi all, I have just submitted fltk 1.3 into factory. As soon as it will be accepted and propagated into factory, there will arise several build failures there: packages ZynAddSubFX, xdiskusage, prozgui and alsamixergui. I provide fltk13.patches for them which should fix these build errors. Some of them are workarounds and I am sure their maintainers or upstream will see better solution. For fltk and prozgui submission for factory see request #76116 and request #76121 respectively. Requests #76117, #76118 and #76119 are for ZynAddSubFX, xdiskusage and alsamixergui against their devel projects. See home:pgajdos:fltk13 for details. Petr

Hi, I've recently run across a problem while building an image with KIWI and using only the openSUSE 11.4 ISO image as repo. For certain image types (pxe and oem) KIWI requires busybox which is not part of the ISO and therefore the KIWI image build process fails when only using the ISO as a source repo. The KIWI boot image descriptions list the packages required for creation of the KIWI boot images, I think we should make sure that at least those packages are on the media. The reasoning is, that I think it is perfectly reasonable for someone who wants to spin their own image with only packages from the "standard" distro to expect that all those packages are on the media. Therefore, one would set up only the ISO image as a repo and create an image with KIWI. Missing busyboz forces the use of the online repo, or setup of a local mirror or some other concoction, which makes this process more cumbersome than it needs to be. It should be fairly easy to write a script that parses the boot descriptions provided with KIWI and to assure those packages are on the media. Thoughts/comments? Hi all, I am about to submit guile 2.0.1 into Factory if no one have any objections. It requires newer gc, I have chosen 7.2alpha6. gnucash will get updated to 2.4.6 by the way. gnome-games, trackballs and autogen packages wanted some small changes to build against new guile, I have named them %{name}-guile-2.0.patch. [opensuse-factory] oSC conference deadline extended, we want more interactivity!!!

Hi all, Let me start with the important part: =========== We want you to THINK MORE ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR WORK for this openSUSE conference. What do YOU want to accomplish? What does YOUR team need to talk about? What features should be finished? What decisions should be made? Use the conference for that! PLEASE SEND IN BoF PROPOSALS for oSC! They take no preparation and barely any work as 'leader' - it's just an informal get-together. Yes, you can do that over dinner too, but - nobody takes notes, lots of beer... A BoF is NOT any more formal than a dinner meet but it does ensure the participants are focussed on the discussion, not the food, and sober ;-) Sending in a BoF proposal ensures you get a room for 40 minutes with no strings attached. And you never know who suddenly shows up and happens to be willing and able to take on some work! Aside from BoF's, we love more workshops and hack sessions. How about a hack session to fix up one or two modules in YaST. Or fix some kernel bugs. Or get a bunch of perl updates packaged. Or, to get more people working on your stuff, a workshop "hacking on YaST". A workshop "porting your app from sysv to systemd"... Register your session here: http://bit.ly/nsycEP ============ About the oSC deadline: Last monday the deadline for the oSC CfP was extended. We had a fair number of submissions already but the "interactive" proportion of sessions wasn't what we hoped. I'm sure that's partially due to lack of clarity about what we want, so let me try to explain a bit here too. We want to get more 'work done' at oSC. And focus more strongly on openSUSE. The last conference had many non-openSUSE people and the results were great - but for openSUSE it wasn't what it could've been. Now many of us get together only once a year at the conf and we could do more than listen to talks, have dinner and drink beer. That's why we want more BoF sessions (essentially team meetings), workshops (eg teach to package better, or test, or ...) and hack sessions (get together and do work). Each of these sessions we'll try to explain more. The BoF was explained a few weeks ago [1] and today the workshop will get some attention [2]. Next week I hope to get something out on how to efficiently do a hack session. I got a rude surprise when I tried to do fastboot over the weekend. While turning on seems if you do a fast boot, and skip the fsck, your file systems never get mounted RW! I already tested them in a local repository and can ensure they work on my netbook : https://build.opensuse.org/project/show?project=home%3Avlj%3Abranches%3AKer… However I'm not good at kernel packaging and used classic %patch macros instead of having them tarzipped.
