Completely unsuable, machine friendly and so 1990... YaST-GTK has a lot better interface and is really friendly. Even command line zypper is more friendly than the one I personally hate. I'm really against saying "I hate" and so but I have no choice. Over the years the interface of YaST has not changed a lot. If it changed anything else than Qt3 → Qt4. KDE has changed, has gone simplified, unified, more powerful, what I can't say about de facto KDE-dedicated interface of YaST. It looks out of place (I'm not talking about Qt style and icons - they're ok). Just for feature-parity and usability-parity I'd like to see Qt one be comparable to GTK one (identical, I guess). I used to use GNOME everyday and I wasn't complaining about YaST then, it was awesome that it was getting a GTK interface (10.3). After then I moved to KDE4 (4.2.x) and found YaST interface really ugly. When I was using SuSE 10.1 I noticed that interface and I didn't like it. Ubuntu, Fedora - they had better, more friendly tools. When PackageKit came, there's a little problem for you: to use it or not to use it. Using it is way around to getting to basic package management, while YaST is ready. You should learn about interface then. Even KPackageKit is quite nice. And don't tell me to use GTK one, since I do, but do something for new users, about which I care right now. Thank you for listening. Franz, Please follow the bugzilla links at the top of the article for the current status of the two major issues. M5 is the last milestone scheduled to accept major changes and new features, and marks the beginning of the "cleanup phase" where the teams move their focus over to closing bugs. [opensuse-factory] openSUSE 11.3 Milestone 5 Broken on 64-bit x86-64

Just one advice for all that want to test Milestone 5 as 64-bit x86-64 version: The media cannot be installed on 64-bit x86-64 systems due to Bug #595545. [opensuse-factory] How to do this and some help

Hi all, OK, so I have downloaded the milestone5 of the Opensuse 11.3 release and I have a few comments and a question. As a blind computer user, one can press F9 to get the talking menu when booting the instalation or Live CD of Gnome. I have downloaded the Live CD in this case. I would suggest that the default sound scheme would be enabled so that one could hear when the Gnome desktop has finished loading and not rely on the CD is working. Also, when starting orca by hitting alt f-2 and typing orca one needs to log out and log back in in order for the accessibility support to be enabled. Here comes the point where I am stuck. If logged out, is there any key that one could press in order to log back into Gnome? Or how many times should I press tab and then enter in order to get to the login button? Please, can someone help so that I can try out how well Orca works in this release of Opensuse. Just log out of gnome and try pressing tab or if you know the shortcut for the login button, please let me know. apache2-icons-oxygen Its main purpose is making Apache's directory listing a little bit more beautiful :) This package is a collection of icons + config file for Apache + a README Most of the icons it contains come from the Oxygen Project except for ods, odt (Crystal icons) and pl (custom icon). In MS5 suspend didn't work until I booted with nosmp. Odd thing it seemed to have stopped the NetworkManager from going off line also. What is smp? Hi, OK, this is my last message to this list and noone seems to be willing to help. This is so simple for you opensuse user's. If logged out from Gnome, how many times should one press the tab key in order to get to the login button or is there some keyboard command for enabling this button? And finally, where can I post suggestions so that they will be implemented in some future release of the OS? This is important, at least to me when it comes to accessibility. [opensuse-factory] m5 on Geode Panel PC

Has anyone managed to install m5 (or anything else recent) on a Panel PC? I'm trying to work with an Afolux AFL-08A which uses a 500MHz AMD Geode LX-800 processor (with 512M RAM though) and an AMD CS5536 support chip (I think this includes the graphics too). We have an 8G CF card as hard disk. Installation is from USB DVD, selecting only 'UK' keyboard everything looks OK until the re-boot when it freezes with the splash screen barely up. Re-booting with splash disabled, it seems to be as the vt6655 driver is loaded, but in this state the machine re-boots itself before the message can be read. Attaching the serial console on another machine & invoking with console=ttyS0,115200 gets as far as 'loading drivers, configuring devices' and locks up. Similar behaviour with m4 fwiw. [opensuse-factory] PAM broken?

I am running latest ML as a VBox guest on an 11.2 host. I can ping in and out. I can ssh in and out, LAN or WAN. I can open LAN Samba shares I can connect in over fish or sftp from LAN and WAN But can't connect out to any hosts over fish or sftp. Host I'm trying to connect over WAN shows: pam_unix2(sshd:auth): conversation failed error: ssh_msg_send: write error: PAM: Authentication failure for 'user' from 'ipaddress' port '33804 ssh2. Host I try to connect in LAN says nothing. I booted the same VBox guest using 11.0 Live KDE CD and everything works from there. What should I look into?
