[opensuse-factory] 11.2 repos vs. factory repos

Hi, Just a quick note to avoid more people confused: factory and 11.2 are two distinct projects since RC1 and as such you have to decide for yourself now if you want to stay with factory or switch to 11.2. If you have factory repos enabled, you will get factory, if you have RC1 installed, the repos registered will give you 11.2 (once RC2 is out). So far every package that goes into 11.2 goes into factory first, but still a lot things to into factory only. So if you have a problem with factory, chances are there it's factory only. All, As a test I thought I would try to upgrade my 11.1 desktop to 11.2 RC2 via the gui. I just tried to follow: http://en.opensuse.org/Upgrade/11.2#GUI Which has == 1. start YaST2 wagon 2. follow the dialogs 3. reboot == Since I never heard of "start", I tried yast2 wagon. That does not work. > sudo /sbin/yast2 wagon No such client module wagon The search path follows. It does not include the current directory. /y2update/clients /root/.yast2/clients /usr/share/YaST2/clients Are the instructions just plain wrong, or am I doing something wrong. fyi: that write-up needs some expanding. At a minimum I assume it is saying "From a CLI, type "yast2 wagon" or something. [opensuse-factory] Mirroring updates

At the moment I am trying RC1 on two different systems. There was just an update off 1.6 GB. Is there a way to use an intelligent mirror on my own network? Then things only need to be fetched once. [opensuse-factory] ISO MIME type on KDE

Hello listmates, I'm running openSUSE 11.2 RC1 and I have seen that the ISO MIME type is not configured on KDE 4.3.1. When I try to open an ISO file, K3b is not launched and you don't have the option to browse the contents of the ISO file either (iso:/). Is anyone experiencing the same thing? [opensuse-factory] Script to remove excess rpm packages?

Hi. Here's my situation: I have a test machine which I update once or twice a week. I save the update rpms, and when important things are in sync (I can run vmware, for example), I take the saved rpms over to my work machine and do an update there. It has been such a long time since I've updated the work machine that I have 100,000 update rpms for an installed base of 10,000 packages. Some of the package updates have 15-20 versions. I've tried, but it takes forever to "thin out the herd", so there's at most a couple of versions so that the update solver isn't going to run forever trying to figure out what to do. Does anyone have a script that will reduce the number of versions of each package down to one or two? Hello When is the next update due on http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/factory/repo/oss/ - the last update i see is 14-Oct-2009 on http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-commit/2009-10/date3.html - I see commits up to 22 October, 2009 How often does the refresh/update/sync line up between them ?. [opensuse-factory] Linkage between comitted packages and repository

Hello, What are your thoughts about this , is this possible or useful. When a package is committed in opensuse-commit for example: "commit kernel-source for openSUSE:Factory" http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-commit/2009-10/msg00525.html Can that be linked up so the files appears on the corresponding repository as well once package is committed ? - As an example the commit updates a package as well as any associated newly built rpms. e.g - http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/factory/repo/oss/suse/noarch/kernel-source… http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/factory/repo/oss/suse/i586/kernel-desktop-… http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/factory/repo/oss/suse/x86_64/kernel-deskto… Perhaps automate the process so when the package gets committed the new rpm gets pushed out overnight and any associated newly built rpms ?. The previous version package could be moved to one side and removed at the end of the month just for safe keeping for a little while.
