>From fresh install of 11.0b3 yesterday (no byte code interpreter enabled I presume) http://fm.no-ip.com/SS/Fnt/suse11b3-desktop1.jpg shows clockwise from lower left: 1-kcmshell xserver (KDE3 font chooser) 2-Konq 3-SeaMonkey 4-Firefox 2.9.95-21 5-Epiphany 6-Opera You can see: 1-hinting style set to medium, best when byte code interpreter not enabled 2-SeaMonkey matches menu text and page text with system, Opera, & Konq 3-Epiphany matches menu text with only with Firefox, and page text with SeaMonkey, Opera & Konq 4-Firefox matches page text with nothing, and menu text only with Epiphany You don't see that the default for GTK to use KDE fonts remains set. Is everyone else without byte code interpreter enabled seeing the same thing? What's wrong here, pango? [opensuse-factory] Dropdownbox missing in menu in loginscreen..

Hi, Until this version: System: openSUSE 11.0 (x86_64) Beta3 KDE: 4.0.4 (KDE 4.0.4 >= 20080505) "release 8.1" there is a dropdownbox in the close menu in menu in the lower left corner of the loginscreen. From the menu in that box, one could choose to directly boot into another os. In this version: System: openSUSE 11.0 (x86_64) Beta3plus KDE: 4.0.4 (KDE 4.0.4 >= 20080505) "release 19.1" That dropdownbox is gone. [opensuse-factory] OSuSE 11.0 devel Q: has pthreads library location changed?

This is a dup of a post to the general discussion list (OS(a)OS.O) but though someone here might be better informed as to what's going into 11.0 ... In 10.3 and most linux builds I've run into so far, 'pthreads' is usually in a separate pthreads library. Has this changed in 11.0? Would they have been moved into some library included by default during a build & link (like glibc)? Seems like that would be an odd change to make since outside tarballs that use pthreads would likely have a -lpthreads in the final link stage and if OS11 moves them, all those make files would require a different link line for OS11 (i.e. -- one that doesn't try to include what would be a non-existent pthreads library). The reason I'm asking is I'm looking at a make designed to run on OS11, and I'm getting link errors for the various pthread functions -- all of the functions seem to be missing when the final program is being linked (and it doesn't have an explicit -lpthreads on the link line). Thus my wondering is it the case that pthreads are being moved into one of the standardly linked-with libraries (like glibc -- not requiring explicit naming on the command line), or does linking against against libpthreads happen automatically on the 'gcc' of the future (the one to be in OS11.0)? I installed freenx on my setup but somehow the keyboard layout doesn't get correctly configured. My computer at work is set to dvorak and my laptop is qwerty. After connecting from windows vista, the layout in gnome is still dvorak. Also when I ran nxsetup I got the following warnings ----> Testing your nxserver configuration ... Warning: Invalid value "COMMAND_FOOMATIC=/usr/lib64/cups/driver/foomatic-ppdfile" Users will not be able to use foomatic. [opensuse-factory] Xen not starting after upgrade to 11b3plus

Hi, I had Xen running on my OpenSuSE 11b2 and today I made a "zypper dup" to install the latest version of OSS 11. Installation went through correctly, but now, if I try to start "Xen -- OpenSuSE 11.0 - 2.6.25.4-2" the system comes up, but reboots after a short time. There are no error messages on the screen and last entry is "Xen is relinquishing VGA console" :-( Any idea how to solve this? [opensuse-factory] KNode Error -Default Configuration

I just tried posting a message using my usenet account on KNode under KDE4, 11.0b2. I got the following message. (Googled but didn't find anything.) Unable to load/save configuration. Wrong permissions on home folder? You should close KNode now I closed and restarted, but get a similar message that the "file does not exist." [opensuse-factory] Certain packages in factory repo have lost their descriptons.

Hi, I don't know if this is a bug or I have just selected these packages at the wrong time but nscd and I found this with k3b too, don't populate the description tab in both factory and my alternate factory mirrors.kernel.org. There are two versions of nscd, both from factory not my altfactory, shown in yast software management and the lower version one shows it's description but the latest one doesn't.
