[opensuse-factory] Bug 431880 closed as duplicate of 431542 - which is marked as private

(I know - this keeps on happening - because it has *still* not been addressed by Novell...) Bug 431880 (11.1 Beta 2 NFS problems) has been closed as duplicate of 431542 but this latter is marked as private. Does it really need to be? If so please can we have a status report? Please, Novell developers - when marking a bug as private consider us ordinary folks that are trying to help the community... Separately - anyone have a work around? It seems that executing (as root) "rpc.statd -F" gives an "unable to register" error, by which point I'm out of my depth... [opensuse-factory] beta2 freeze delay every 10 second

Hi, I have tried both x64 and i386 and the desktop seem to suffer from some kind of delays. I'm running KDE4.1. For example when starting Firefox it seem to get wait for something before continuing. When typing in a konsole or this email, every 10seconds it freezes for like 500ms. This is not the case in 11.0 nor does it seem to be a problem when at the actual console login. Original Post condensed version: "I've burned the 11.1 Beta 1 x86_64 DVD twice. It will boot with Suse graphics and all then after selecting 'Installation' it loads kernel into a text mode installer and gives the error: Make sure that CD 1 is in your drive. I can by using back button get 2 other errors: This is not a openSuse CD-ROM. and: No repositories found. I tried again using k3b. By default it burns DVD's at 4.1x with my DVD writer. I selected the slowest speed it offers 2.4x. When I booted it I got exact same results as before." New Post: I'm feeling like an absolute idiot. I can't find any possible way to install 11.1 or Factory. As stated above DVD doesn't work [same problem with 11.1 Beta 2]. I've tried internet install [won't boot] and KDE live CD [won't boot]. What the heck am I doing wrong? I've tested Beta versions of openSUSE before. Is it really true that I have no way what so ever to install and test 11.1 or Factory? What am I missing? I filed a bug report: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=429344 but it is receiving no perceived response... Frustrating. What am I missing? Will this at least be fixed by stable release? [opensuse-factory] zypper dup keeps reinstalling the same packages

I have 11.1 beta2 and I'm trying to update to factory. Zypper dup finds a bunch of packages but the strange thing is that many of them are already installed. Then, zypper just ends in the middle of the process, no error message given... There were not so many base libs being updated to an incompatible state. That's also why I started quiet late this time providing the repository, but be assured, it will be ready soon. I'm fighting with some dependencies (and internal packaging errors inside the distro... of course I have the corresponding submitreqs already there.. but seems they are not synched out yet). (The issue is basically once more some *.la files referencing another one which does not exist anymore, stopping the linker process). I hope to get it up very soon. [opensuse-factory] nouveau driver default for some nvidia cards?

So I have done a fair bit of testing against the latest nouveau driver with my nvidia quadro card (PCIe NVS 280) this past week and have been very pleasantly surprised at how stable and happy it makes my system in comparison to the icky nv driver. Granted that the way in which I had to do this was manually compile and install the driver as per the instructions on their wiki.
