All this has been reported the vmware already of course and I hope we can expect a solution for this before openSUSE 11.1 hits the shelfs. [opensuse-factory] VMWare workstation 6.5 on 2.6.27 kernels

Hi, Did already somebody of you try (and succeed) to install / run vmware 6.5 workstation on a openSUSE 11.1 host? So far I get: - installation using RPM works (well, it only installs the bundle and starts the bundle install... so duh...) - starting vmware gives a segfault when it tries to startup -> Modules can't be built - I extracted all the modules in the modules/source folder, compiled them all manually... this works, EXCEPT for the module vsock, where I get 4 warnings and I won't be able to modprobe it later (The warnings are: WARNING: "VMCIDatagram_CreateHnd" [/usr/lib/vmware/modules/source/vsock-only/vsock.ko] undefined! WARNING: "VMCIDatagram_DestroyHnd" [/usr/lib/vmware/modules/source/vsock-only/vsock.ko] undefined! WARNING: "VMCI_GetContextID" [/usr/lib/vmware/modules/source/vsock-only/vsock.ko] undefined! WARNING: "VMCIDatagram_Send" [/usr/lib/vmware/modules/source/vsock-only/vsock.ko] undefined! ) Anybody of you having more luck with this? Finally, the Peter Czanik release has been done ! :) You find an ftp tree of current Factory PPC on the new server powerpc.opensuse.org It delivers currently an FTP stream of the OSS distro: http://powerpc.opensuse.org/factory/repo/oss/ You can also rsync the content using: rsync -av powerpc.opensuse.org::opensuse/ppc/ $YOUR_DIR The ppc directory has been created intentionally, if mirrors want to add this tree in their existing opensuse stream. There are currently known dependency issues, esp in the Gnome area, because of missing or build failing packages. But a general installation should be possible with it. VMware Workstation 6.5 has a mechanism to ask for root password in this case and take over from there. Nevertheless it segfaults out (well.. for some reason a module segfaults) >From the previous mail, in plus, I wrote that I can compile every single module except vsock.ko, which fails out with the warnings as stated. [opensuse-factory] Repository is blank

I re-added the OSS Factory but refreshing will not bring anything up. I killed the cache in /var/cache/zypp, there was no db in /var/lib/rpm However when I do a zypper ref --force the repository still doesn't update. Help.. Hello, I update to the last factory but, yast2 can't find a X-server in a gnome installation ? Hi everyone, quick update on the openSUSE distribution and Beta3 plans for this week: After the power outage last Friday, we have been unable to check in packages and rebuilt the distribution over the weekend. A complete rebuilt has been triggered Monday in the afternoon. Now we are waiting for the distribution to rebuilt (which will likely take until tomorrow). As soon as the distribution is ready, we'll create a testbuild. Depending on the quality, we might be able to release Beta3 on Friday -- if we need more fixes / rebuilds, Beta3 could come as late as Monday next week. Best, Christoph -- Christoph Thiel, Tech.
