[opensuse-support] rosegarden executable hard to launch

Version 19.06 in Leap-15.2 segfaults if launched from cLi (the return shows nothing but errors). If I click the panel icon then I have to do a quick double click to make it work. Reinstalled for the Nth time, no change. Also tried 20.6, no joy either. Hi *, for a long time I got messages like i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun i915 0000:00:02.0: [drm] *ERROR* Atomic update failure on pipe B (start=315366 end=315367) time 312 us, min 1431, max 1439, scanline start 1417, end 1444 from time to time, but this didn't seem to have any further impact on the system. But starting this week about three times a day the machine freezes completely with no apparent reason besides more of the above mentioned messages. No other error messages are shown in the journal or any other logs. This does not happen with Windows 10 running on the same machine, but from an external thunderbolt ssd instead of the internal M.2 ssd. Machine is a Dell Inc. XPS 13 9370/0F6P3V, BIOS 1.13.1 07/08/2020. Does anyone else face this problem? Any idea what to check or do against it? TIA. Bye. Michael.

[opensuse-support] how to re-import qcow2 images after a full reinstall of the OS

I have TW and kvm with several instances on a separate disc that is mounted as /var/lib/libvirt/images. I had to reinstall the OS, so, I see the qcow2 images but not in kvm manager. There the location is shown with 0 B. Which is odd, should not be a permission problem as I am part with that user of kvm and qemu groups. I suppose I will have to import them somehow with virsh, but if there is a way in qemu / kvm manager it would be even better. Anybody knows what I am missing?

Dears, As for the subject, after recent updates my custom settings for lightdm-greeter have been reset and I cannot recover it anymore by changing the file: /etc/lightdm/lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf At reboot the greeter keeps with default empty settings. Hello, Just curious....I'm getting this when booting opensuse tumbleweed on dual boot setup: 339249] tpm tpm0: tpm_try_transit: send(): error -5 339264] tpm tpm0: [Firmware Bug]: TPM interrupt not working, polling instead I've just updated the bios on the motherboard and I see no errors booting windows. Is this a linux problem or do I have to go to the MB manufacturer-Gigabyte? Thanks for any help...... mikes

Didn't find this in my search of the manpage, but like the zip format's 'unzip -l', is there an option with 'tar tf <tarfile>' to show you, at least, a long format type listing (accessbits links user group size date name), or better a way to list a formatted view of all the metadata associated with a file?

Ha, Today my son's new Gigabyte Aorus motherboard, with AMD Ryzen 5900 CPU, arrived. Pushing Leap 15.2 on it was a no-brainer, except for the networking interface. The board has a Realtek RTL8125, which is - I did some googling - not supported by the installed kernel (5.3). In 5.9 it should be, I read (https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/540275-How-to-get-ethernet-worki…; which discusses the situation with Tumbleweed). Is it possible to get that kernel for Leap 15.2, and if so, where do I find that? Or another kernel for Leap, which supports this chip? I see https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/Sauerland:/hardware/openSU… Would that one be safe to install, and to get things working? If not, I understand that I have to build my own kernel, something I've never done before.So I would think I run in some difficulties on that road. Any advice appreciated! regards, Jogchum

Hello! That's sloppy. This kernel install done with yast2 fails with a nvidia card, apparently doesn't like the signing key but then doesn't auto-prompt to update/install a mok...
