[opensuse-support] LibreOffice cannot be started by normal user but no problem by root

Hi there, I had posted a startup problem with LibreOffice recently. But mistakenly, I had posted it in a hijacking way. Thanks to Carlos for pointing out this and providing me some ideas along with other people. So I start a new thread because I need further help on this issue and here are something new I found on my problem. And the direction to solve the problem seems changed. I fired up a VirtualBox and installed openSUSE Tumbleweed in it with almost all settings as default. LibreOffice runs smoothly without further setup, just like my current system. Here are something new, 1. LibreOffice does not run in a newly created account in my system. The error messages are the same. 2. I have already tried to remove LibreOffice and reinstall all related packages and this does not help. 3. It seems that LibreOffice can run by root, ```bash cnzhx@ostp:/home/cnzhx> libreoffice --version terminate called after throwing an instance of 'com::sun::star::uno::RuntimeException' ``` ```bash cnzhx@ostp:/home/cnzhx> sudo libreoffice --version LibreOffice 6.1.3.2 10(Build:2) ``` Then, the question is that how could I make LO also works by normal user. I have no clue where to start trying. I looked for a bug on this - no joy. Does anyone know if there is an existing bug report that can be referenced in the forum thread? A solution maybe? These are from 42.3 installations. On both, /etc/sysconfig/language is identical, and 'DroidSansMono.ttf: "Droid Sans Mono" "Regular"' results from 'fc-match monospace'. [opensuse-support] Leap 15 Packman VLC - no drag'n'drop?

Leap 15 VLC 3.0.2-lp150.3.5 from Packman (what else might be helpful?) Open File, select file with mouse, drag to Playlist window does not work. Open File, double click file, or select file with mouse and click the Open button works. Rather annoying when one wants to set up a playlist *before* playing anything. Anyone else have this problem? Solutions? Googling found a bunch of similar complaints, but from 7-8 years ago, generally solved by removing configs. I tried same by going into ~/.config/vlc and renaming files there, but to no effect. FWIW, I saw some things about problems with 'remote' files, e.g. over NFS. This is not applicable to my setup; all files are on local disks. TIA. Since shortly "zypper ps" shows entries starting with /memfd: These entries are also present when using lsof on certain processes. It looks like this type has been introduced recently and zypper does not ignore these entries. I also see an entry /usr/sbin/haveged (deleted) for process haveged, which disappears after a restart of haveged. Howver /memfd: remains after killing the process and restarting it. Hi, Seems pysol has a programming error , at least on tumbleweed it does. The program stops because of this error- _tkinter.TclError: cannot use geometry manager grid inside .140028703953408.140028703953480 which already has slaves managed by pack according to a web search--Warning: Never mix grid and pack in the same master window. Tkinter will happily spend the rest of your lifetime trying to negotiate a solution that both managers are happy with. Instead of waiting, kill the application, and take another look at your code. A common mistake is to use the wrong parent for some of the widgets. if this is the problem the maintainer will have to modify it....so I have no way to know who to tell... Hi *, my DELL XPS 13 9370 has a builtin Intel UHD Graphics 620 chip. After installing the latest Tumbleweed snapshot yesterday I get a completely distorted screen in KDE after login from sddm. The problem only occurs, when using xf86-video-intel, using the modesetting driver everything looks as expected. Two questions: 1. The latest snapshot updated libvulkan_intel-18.1.7 to libvulkan_intel-18.3.1. Can this be the culprit? 2. What in general is the best X11 driver for the 620 chip at the moment - intel or modesetting? [opensuse-support] Problem with packets pandoc and patterns-fonts-fonts in Tumbleweed

On my laptop with Tumbleweed after a "zypper dup" I need to ignore failures to remove the packages pandoc and patterns-fonts-fonts. It appears that the newest versions are installed together with the previous ones. However trying to remove the older versions fails because they do not exist anymore, except apparently in some configuration. I don't have this problem on my desktop. Any suggestions?
