Leap 15 VLC 3.0.2-lp150.3.5 from Packman (what else might be helpful?) Open File, select file with mouse, drag to Playlist window does not work. Open File, double click file, or select file with mouse and click the Open button works. Rather annoying when one wants to set up a playlist *before* playing anything. Anyone else have this problem? Solutions? Googling found a bunch of similar complaints, but from 7-8 years ago, generally solved by removing configs. I tried same by going into ~/.config/vlc and renaming files there, but to no effect. FWIW, I saw some things about problems with 'remote' files, e.g. over NFS. FWIW, I saw some things about problems with 'remote' files, e.g. over NFS. This is not applicable to my setup; all files are on local disks.

Indeed, but dragging to playlist *used to* put it in the playlist without starting playback - for as far back as I've been using VLC, definitely pre-Leap. This is *exactly* my complaint. :)

Correct, 3.0.2 is the version available from packman for Leap 15.0. Any other version must be for some different opensuse version.

Just tested the version on my work machine (VLC 2.1.6 on Ubuntu 14.0.4). The drag'n'drop to which I refer works there. Looking at their changelog is...unrevealing. Thank you, Carlos for the heads up and sorry to everyone in this list for my mistake. I have no idea why the last message became a "reply" to an old thread. I definitely used the "New Message" button in Kmail to start the writing. And I have been very confused by the fact that I cannot find the message I sent in my Inbox. I recall that every new message comes up in my own Inbox right after I send it. Anyway, I will try to do better on the mailing list thereafter. Check the list of packages (and versions) against that of Bruno. Compared to the packages provided by Bruno, my packages list lacks only the *extensions and *printers after my trying to install libreoffice-gtk2, libreoffice-gtk3 and libreoffice-base. Version numbers are the same.

As of java, I have only java-11-openjdk and its dependencies installed. But this should make no difference.

No -ff, but -f. strace - trace system calls and signals ltrace - A library call tracer At this moment I don't know which is best for the job. Could anyone please help on solving this problem?

I tried several ways to fix it but failed.

1. Installing "libreoffice-gtk2" won't help when I followed tips from https:// bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=206869 "libreoffice-gtk3" won't help either.

2. Installing "libreoffice-base" solves the error messages (the first 2 lines) related to javaldx.

3. Removing all "libreoffice-*" packages and reinstalling "libreoffice" won't help either after the hint from here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/ +source/libreoffice/+bug/1768756/comments/6

4. Same symptoms occur when test LO in a newly created account in the same system (newly installed openSUSE Tumbleweed snapshot 20181214 upgraded to 20181219).

Please help on solving this problem. To work without LO is very difficult.

I'm using plasma5 under X11 due to nvidia, so -qt5 is installed, adapt to your own env.

In libreoffie java-11 is the one selected by default.

You didn't tell us when you start in safe mode if you've tried to disable openCL openGL and also if you have any kind of extension installed (system and/or user)

If you want to debug it (and report upstream or bugzilla.opensuse.org) you can start it in gdb with

gdb /usr/lib64/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin run --safe-mode

Btw if you find anything crashing you should open first a bug on bugzilla.opensuse.org (OS = Tumbleweed, component libreoffice) Upload all the trace you can collect and ask for more help there.
