Anybody else experiences this? lost gpu acceleration after TW update

I have: - openSUSE Tumbleweed - Mesa installed from packman (for codecs) - Intel Skylake GT2 [HD Graphics 520] - i3wm running on Xorg After update to snapshot 20230724 and Mesa to version 23.1.4 I have lost gpu acceleration (llvmpipe is used as fallback). The only relevant thing in /var/log/Xorg.0.log is [ 17.930] (II) Module glamoregl: vendor="X.Org Foundation" [ 17.930] compiled for 1.21.1.8, module version = 1.0.1 [ 17.930] ABI class: X.Org ANSI C Emulation, version 0.4 [ 18.409] couldn't get display device [ 18.409] (II) modeset(0): glamor initialization failed Anyone else got this? Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi, I'm Poplar. I have an issue. When crow-translate starts, it automatically creates a new file named tesseract_opencl_profile_devices.dat in the user directory. Tuxedo settings in Leap

Hi, we have at home new Tuxedo InfinyBook - very nice upgrade after 10 years. :-D I miss there just buttons for touchpad and dislike bit shrink numerical keyboard and arrows. Otherwise we like it very much. In that Tuxedo OS (based on Ubuntu) it has TUXEDO Control Center where You can set a lot of things regarding power saving and performance, e.g. fan profile, battery charging options (how much to charge battery with regards to its capacity and lifespan) etc. I'd expect I can set most of these things in BIOS, but if I enter it via DEL key, I see only very few options. packages in Keep state during Leap upgrades

I'm not sure if this is really the best place to bring this up, but it might get the eyes of a few openSUSE developers. I've noticed a problem with Leap upgrades, certainly for 15.5 and 15.4 but I'm not sure how far back it goes. I know it was never an issue I had in the past and I've been upgrading oS installs for nearly twenty years. When using the Leap 'Upgrade' option via a USB stick or DVD, if I go into the Package Selection category of the installation overview (I've been obliged to do so with the last release because of one or two conflicts that needed resolving), I've discovered that there are a large number of packages that remain in the 'Keep' state with a black tick on an empty background. Hundreds or more. They are not marked for upgrade even though a version from the latest Leap release exists on either the upgrade media or the online repos. In some or maybe all cases the version number can be precisely the same, which may be the source of the problem. I've observed this on three separate machines in three different locations with different owners, although I'm the administrator in each case and have chosen a roughly similar configuration and package selection, so that could still mean it's a rare situation that I unfortunately trigger with my choices. One thing I tend to do prior to the upgrade is go into my software repositories and make sure they're all updated to the next release, or use $releasever in the path. During the upgrade process I flip the state of the few non-official repos I want to preserve to prevent them being deleted. In case it's relevant, all my repos have a priority of 99 except Packman which is 98. I find it hard to believe that it could either be a bug not already acted upon or that it potentially affects large swathes of Leap users and nobody has raised it, but I've not found a bug report about it from my albeit non-extensive searches. It could potentially cause a lot of incompatibility or dependency problems from Leap users who accept the defaults and are unaware they're still running packages from an older oS version. However, if the package versions are the same, I suspect in most cases nobody will notice any major problems. I first noticed this had happened on a system I'd already upgraded, and it was only afterwards I had to find a way to filter all packages that came from the previous release and forcibly upgrade them. When you want to do it during the install/upgrade with the YaST-based interface, it's not obvious how. The only way I know is to deselect all the package categories from the boxes in the left column, and leave selected only 'Keep'. Then right-click one of the packages, go to 'All in this list...' and then 'Upgrade unconditionally'. I can't pinpoint the exact release where this began to occur.. gumb

Hello all, I've been looking for a program for 3D Modelling And Rendering Unfortunately I could only find for Tumbleweed: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE%3AFactory/blender[1] and respectively at https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/graphics/blender[2] I see there is no version for Leap 15.4. Does anyone know a solution for succesfull packaging? Leap 15.4 Cairo Dock & software update for plymouth for version 15.3

I'm running OpenSUSE 15.4 with KDE desktop. Over the years, as I customized my desktop, I found that I preferred to replace the desktop dock rather than use KDE's. For years, I had been using latte-dock and was quite satisfied with it...but development has ceased. So I'm trying to run Cairo-dock. I installed it by downloading a script from the configured repsitories and running it. I got no error messages, and Cairo "starts"...I get the obligatory message about installing plug-ins, and at some time (a minute or a few) default dock crashes, but the nag message about installing plugins persists.. and before it crashes none of the buttons that are installed by default launch anything. Is there a definitive word on if cairo-dock works with 15.4 and beyond? If it does work, I'll uninstall it and retry with a fresh download....unless there is a better way to install it. I'm looking for a way to get it to reliably run. Separate issue, since installing 15.4, I regularly get a nag to update plymouth: "openSUSE-15.3-SLE-15.3 2022-3024(1)" (Yes, the message does say 15.3 even though I am running 15.4) Trying to start the update does not work--no surprise. How can I resolve continuously receiving this message on boot? Many thanks, Mark -- I think my lucky stars that I'm not superstitious.
