sftp broken in konqueror

I installed Leap 15.5 today. I have several computers and communicate/transfer files between them using sftp in konqueror. I have submitted a bug report but I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and found a workaround or simple solution. My current workaround is to install the 15.4 files for konqueror and dolphin.

TW: Huge Power drain in Suspend mode

Hi, I use to close the lid of my laptop in the evening to put it in suspend mode. Mostly while it is attached to power. It is a Manufacturer: LENOVO Product Name: 20QWS0A8GE System Version: ThinkPad X1 Extreme 2nd Since some time - may be kernel 6 series - it reports an empty battery in the morning. After some minutes it is back to normal with full charge (as connected to power). So this first 'report' is obviously wrong. A second Laptop, T520 running TW as well, does not show this effect. Since recent (Kernel 6.8?) the system reports empty battery as above, but as well an aging of 100% of the battery - and by this, no charging of battery. I did a recalibration of the battery, after this it shows an aging of ~75%. (echo force-discharge >/sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/charge_behaviour) The next day, again the same issue. Anyone seen this as well? Any idea about the reason and solution? Thanks Axel

Pipewire and passthrough of digitally encoded images

Hi there, so far I have been ignorant of Pipewire, mostly because I couldn't get it to work in one of my usage scenarios. Now I have a different one: my HTPC running Tumbleweed is connected to a 4K TV via HDMI 2.1, similarly as a BluRay player and a Dreambox SAT receiver. The TV then sends its inputs via E-ARC to an AV receiver. In order to get the AV receiver decode any digitally encoded image (AC-3, DTS, DTS-Master-HD, Dolby-X, Dolby-Atmos, etc.), I want to pass such formats untouched to the receiver (passthrough). With PulseAudio this is partially possibly up to DTS, but passthrough for 7.1 and higher formats is not possible, it just ends up as Dolby Digital (AC-3) or DTS at the AV-R. I tried to get it going with Pipewire, but I won't get any sound. There is no error message, just no sound. My question is: (a) does anybody have this working at home? If so, how? (b) is passthrough supposed to work with Pipewire? If so, how? Thanks a lot for any suggestions/feedback! Cheers. l8er manfred

Unable to mount encrypted USB drive any longer:

Hi, the machine is running openSUSE Tumbleweed 20240417. I am not able to mount an external encrypted usb any longer by using System Tray method (just noticed, from Plasma 6 System Tray). I have not attempted using Snapper to rollback the OS yet. When using Dolphin to attempt to access the encrypted usb's volume - the following error is displayed: An error occurred while accessing '1.9 GiB Encrypted Drive', the system responded: An unspecified error has occurred: Object does not exist at path “/” - Gparted recognizes the drive and is able to unencrypt the volume (when passphrase is entered). Then I am able to access the encrypted volume by using Dolphin after providing the root password. Dolphin has not asked for root password before when performing this operation. - It seems as if something with how Plasma 6 uses luksOpen has broken. I have not used the following in Konsole yet - cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sdc cr_ARBITRARY_NAME *because* I do not think I should have to do this with the volume already having a name. Output of 'fdisk -l' -> Disk /dev/sdc: 1.94 GiB, 2079850496 bytes, 4062208 sectors Disk model: Flash Disk Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes What is going on here? 🫥 -Best Regards

TW - Plasma6 / X11: cursor jumps while writing text

Hello, since Plasma6 on X11 I have an issue when writing text: All of a sudden the cursor jumps to a different location while writing. Text is somehwat broken afterwards. This happens only on X11, not on wayland. On X11, the systemsettings do not detect the touchpad (not found), while it is visible on wayland. Created already a bug for it: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484753 My best guess is, that this is the reason for the jumping cursor: when the hand comes too close to the touchpad, it reacts different on X11 and wayland. Has anyone else this issue as well? Any ideas? Cheers Axel

Hello! I am interested in contributing to the translation of OpenSUSE Tumbleweed into Romanian and I have some questions that I hope to get answers to, and that someone can help me in this regard. I have encountered some problems when translating from English where some characters appear that I don't know if I should include in the Romanian translation, if I include them they are displayed strangely and it looks like a translation with errors and mistakes is about this character: & A few examples: Start &Update K&eyboard Test Re&lease Notes... Installation from &Images Net&work Configuration... No, &Skip the Network Setup &Install from Images &Do not Install from Images &Change... &Toggle Action &Clone This System for AutoYaST Thank you!

Support, just right now, fired up slowroll machine. opensuse slowroll, zypper ref: signature verification failed for: repomd.xml from repository update, online multiple times, firefox-browsed that /update/slowroll/repo/oss/repodata/ and I do find some xml asc and key files in there they all load and seem legit but apparently still some signature or composition of those files dont match or are not properly cryptoed. repository: update ..... rsa4096 key created: ... 20 june 2022 key expires: .... 19 june 2026 thanks for fixing

Using anaconda

Apologies if this is a poor place to ask ... A while ago I used anaconda to install a python environment for a particular program I was using. Then I stopped using it, and I've subsequently rebooted the system. I now want to re-run the same program but I can't figure out how to reactivate the same python environment to run it in. I stupidly apear to have taken no notes at the time :( Can anybody point me to a better place to ask, or to an online resource that explains (for a simple idiot) how to reactivate an environment using conda or whatever?

I have two TW20240410 installations on the same HDD. One has a boot malady that is solved if I use the other's initrd. This holds for the past several installed kernel versions. The difference in size between the two for a selected kernel version installed to both is 111,428 bytes, with the larger being the one that works correctly. After using lsinitrd on both redirected to files I used diff on those two files, redirected to another file. The diff output file is 138k, useless for the intended purpose. I have determined from the diff that the one that doesn't work is an "Early CPIO image". The bad initrd with "Early CPIO" contains 12288 GenuineIntel.bin, which the good does not. Both installations have identical content in /etc/dracut.d/. 1-What controls whether an initrd is an "Early CPIO image"? 2-How can I determine what is apparently absent from the smaller of the two initrds? -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science.
