If I have a request for updating a package that is contained in the "security" repo, how/where would I file this?

Concerning the nitrokey app there is a recent update to 2.1.1 with new functionalities available,as opposed to the current offer of 1.4.2 (which is BTW perfectly functional, but limited when it comes to the newer versions of the nitrokey (nitrokey pro3 etc), currently in the "security" repo. Nitrokey is the same hardware idea as yubikey (allowing gpg/otp and so on) just to make you understand what kind of software / hardware this is. In such a case, would I file a bugzilla request for this package, or is software of the security repo not supported via bugzilla? Just trying to avoid to create unintentionally some invalid request. Thank you.

Thunderbird problem

I've happily switched over to Thunderbird from KMail. But, I have hit some sort of snag--- I like the ironic humor value of the "signature" at the end of an email message. Rather than using the same one each day, I have a file of "one liners" that a script randomly chooses a new one each day. It works, BUT not always. Here is the entirety of the script: shuf -n 1 /home/mark/sigs.txt > /home/mark/.signature After running the script, thunderbird is supposed to pick up on the new .signature file...but often it doesn't. Here's what I can tell: In the "Account Settings" instead of seeing /home/mark/.signature, it displays /run/user/1000/doc/b0cddf0b/.signature and no signature appears. I can fix it by in Thunderbird's Account Settings, "un-selecting" the "Attach the signature from a file instead (text, HTML, or image):" option and then re-selecting it. After re-selecting, the signature shows up perfectly. How can I avoid this extra step? Thank you for any help, Mark -- Learn from the mistakes of others. WD encrypted portable drive on Linux

Hi, all -- A student of ours gave us a Western Digital disk so that we could deliver his files ... but it's an encrypted volume that only shows up as an 8M read-only sr0. Any thoughts on mounting it, presuming he gives me the passphrase, before I just throw it back at him? We don't do that steenking encryption stuff :-) and I am absolutely at ground zero. Parole (XFCE Video Player) Codec Error

Trying to play any MPEG-4 file I get an error. The error is: It is necessary additional software Parole needs Decoder 264H (Baseline Profile) in order to play the file. And despite into the Parole Window there is the button to install this plugin, nothing happens. The video is instead perfectly reproducible in VLC. I have installed all the plugins from Pacman repo. New computer questions.

Too much info: I just treated myself to a new computer. For surprisingly little I got a tiny but very powerful one--plenty of RAM and storage,and since I don't do "gaming" I don't need the high end video. My goal is that this will be my new desktop machine running OpenSUSE Leap. It comes with (of course) Windows 11, which will install itself when I first turn this on, and it uses UEFI. My goals: 1. Once Windows 11 is up, get my license key for it from the running system (easy) 2. Download Windows 11 from Microsoft, and put it aside in case I want to sell this PC at some point. (easy) This will be my backup of the original system . Here's where I begin to need help because I want to avoid things going wrong: Can I instruct the installer to delete the Windows stuff and then proceed to an installation of Leap? Or are there some things that I will have to do install Leap so that everything works well? (I have to admit that this is my second try at getting Leap and UEFI to coexist. (first time was a disaster...but never mind that...I'm sure the installer is much better now) Perhaps there is a guide already written that meets my needs and can answer these questions for me. If so, would someone please point me at it. Thank you, -- Wisdom is knowing what to do with what you know.

btrfs replace

In TW I have my BTRFS root partition on an SSD and would like to move it to an NVME. The NVME has a few partitions, including one of the same size as the current root. According to the docs[1], it seems like I can run # btrfs replace start /dev/[ssd_part] /dev/[nvme_part] / on my running system and once that is complete then my root will be on the NVME, but there is also not tons of details given about what actually happens. Has anyone done this? Is it really as simple as that? Also, what, if any implications for reboot/mounting? Does it replace the UUID on the new root so that fstab is unchanged? Constant server failures

Dear colleagues, please tell me what the problem might be. The server appears to go into standby mode at various intervals (from several hours to a week), the screen darkens and then does not respond to keyboard presses and also becomes unavailable over the network. After a reboot everything works, but after a while the same thing happens again.

Merkuro-calendar

Hi, with KDE Gear 23.08 the old calendar application was deactivated (at least its not showing my calendar entries from google etc anymore) and merkuro-calendar was introduced. The starting it crashes with a memory dump (when starting in preset - german - language). When setting the locale to english it seems to work. Is this an issue in the oS package or in KDE in general?
