Parole (XFCE Video Player) Codec Error
Trying to play any MPEG-4 file I get an error. The error is: It is necessary additional software Parole needs Decoder 264H (Baseline Profile) in order to play the file. And despite into the Parole Window there is the button to install this plugin, nothing happens. The video is instead perfectly reproducible in VLC. I have installed all the plugins from Pacman repo. Do you have suggestions on this matter? Thanks and regards, -- Marco Calistri Build: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20231013 Kernel: 6.5.6-1-default - XFCE: (4.18.3)

I have installed all the plugins from Pacman repo.
Try as root: yast2 sw_single & Menu View / repositories Select packman repo on left panel. On right panel, click "Switch system packages to the version in this repository". This operation is known as "packman switch".
Do you have suggestions on this matter?
Thanks and regards,

Anyway VLC works perfectly. Just want to alert about the issue the XFCE Desktop maintainers. -- Marco Calistri Build: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20231013 Kernel: 6.5.6-1-default - XFCE: (4.18.3)

Hmm, strange, as I have the same version of the libx264-164 package installed here and, as I wrote, it works properly here. Perhaps you can show us the version of your parole package, too: rpm -q parole Do you have an example URL which doesn't work for you?

And I'm not the only one suffering with this Parole issue:

Right (in principle, in practice not everything get solved using Bugzilla, as the suspend issue still present on my laptop). -- Marco Calistri Build: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20231026 Kernel: 6.5.8-1-default - XFCE: (4.18.3)

Suddenly and apparently strangely, Parole today is working: now I'm able to play MPEG-4 videos. -- Marco Calistri Build: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20231026 Kernel: 6.5.8-1-default - XFCE: (4.18.3)
