[opensuse-buildservice] OSC changing the metadata format on update

It seems that osc is changing the metadata format during update WITHOUT A WARNING. Since yesterday I get following errors: Update: Kernel:Vanilla/kernel-source the osc metadata of your working copy "." has the wrong version (0.98), should be 0.97 please do a fresh checkout I'm sharing the repositories of my buildservice sync scripts with my workstation via NFS. It is totally insane that if I run an osc update on my workstation I have to update the CVS server the buildservice sync script is running on. [opensuse-buildservice] sharing patches betwen Deb/RPM builds?

Hi all I have a patch that I am attempting to apply to both RPM and Deb package builds for a unit-testing suite called CUnit. Following the details at http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service/Deb_builds, I used 'quilt' to create a 'series' file (there's only one patch file, actually) but it doesn't seem to work, and I get a build error once I upload my 'debian.series' file. Can anyone confirm that this 'series' thing works, and point to a project where I can see it in action? I dont understand why my package isn't being built, then. That's the only error I see and the build status shows as Failed. [opensuse-buildservice] mount errors

While trying to build an RPM, the build service gives me this error at the very end, which I don't understand or have any idea where it comes from. mount: can't find / in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab md: stopping all md devices. xenbus_dev_shutdown: device/console/0: Initialising != Connected, skipping System halted. Anyone know if there's something that I can do about this? Is anyone else receiving it? [opensuse-buildservice] How secure is openSUSE build service?

I wonder what are the security policies for openSUSE? What are the chances for malicious software (rootkits, trojans) being offered through the build service? What is the procedure for security holes and/or exploits in software offered in the openSUSE build repositories? I get the feeling openSUSE is becoming just as insecure as Windows hence the warning you get when adding repo's with 1-click install (see attachment). Or am I mistaken? [opensuse-buildservice] Pidgin 2.2.2

Someone was interested in Pidgin 2.2.2... well it looks like I've gotten it to build, for SLED 10 anyway. I still have to add a BuildRequires for the spec file so that SSL support will be compiled in (for MSN), but I'm running it right now and it connects to everything other than MSN it looks like. I have added "BuildRequired: gutls-devel" to the spec file; we'll see if that gets MSN SSL support going (according to http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/FAQssl it should...) I will add an openSUSE 10.3 repo and see if I can get that rpm to build as well. [opensuse-buildservice] repository update announcements

Hi, on last CZ PACK meeting we have discussed the possibility of informing users about updates in BS projects. It is desirable to have some way of giving users a notice when some important changes take place (good example may be moving GNOME:STABLE to newer version or renaming of a project/package). The best way would perhaps be creating some repository-bound feeds which YaST could display when updating or installing. Also such feeds should be accessible either through a separate mailing list (to not spoil already existing ones) or better as a RSS/ATOM feed. Input into the feeds should be both manual (for cases such as the aforementioned update of a whole repository) and automatic (triggered e.g. by a successful build of a new version of a package). Feed entries would need to have some priority flag, so that UI doesn't annoy users with not-so-important announcements. Please fell free to comment... Hi all Thanks for advising on the ichain problem. All working again now. I've just added Fedora 8 to my list of build targets. I noticed that rather than appearing along with the other Fedoras, Fedora 8 appeared at the end of my list, after Ubuntu. Any chance that the 'build status' list and 'monitor status' lists could use the same sort order as the 'package flags' and 'build repositories' lists?
