[opensuse-buildservice] build loops and/or really excessive rebuilds

I continue to have build loops (not actual loops) I can't explain. They do eventually run themselves out, but sometimes I see packages rebuild 30, 40, 100 or more times. In some cases, there are explanations for why they might rebuild a few times, but not 10 times much less over a hundred. For example, one package in x86_64 has rebuilt (around) 47 times in the last 3 days. The jobhistory shows only 'rebuild counter'. The package should have only rebuilt for i586, and in that case the only explanation given by jobhistory is "meta change". Several of the underlying dependencies did change over the last 3 days (like glibc, gcc, etc...) however they all changed /at the same time/. What I mean by that is that the source repository received a dozen or more updated rpms (binary rpms) for i586 *only* - I expected that this would cause each package to rebuild, but not once for each changed dependency - that seems just silly since after the first rebuild all subsequent rebuilds are using the exact same sources. [opensuse-buildservice] [PATCH] Add --build-abuild-id to osc and build and add --map-repo to osc

When building locally in a qemu/chroot and debugging I find I want to edit the files in the chroot from my desktop gui editor but they're all owned by 399:399. This pair of patches allows me to set the uid:gid to match my local user and eases this process. usage is: build --build-abuild-id uid:gid or more usually: osc build --build-abuild-id 500:500 osc also accepts (and extends the default) .oscrc settings: build-abuild-id = 500:500 It only supports numeric ids. The osc patch also adds --map-repo to aggregatepac which allows repository mapping(s) to be given as SRC=TARGET[,SRC=TARGET] eg, a real usage: osc aggregatepac -m MerStable_Debian_5.0=Mer0.13_Debian_5.0,MerStable_Ubuntu_9.04=Mer0.13_Ubuntu_9.04 Maemo:Mer:0.13:HW:N8x0 advanced-power Maemo:Mer:Stable:HW:N8x0 https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file?file=_aggregate&package=advanc… David -- "Don't worry, you'll be fine; I saw it work in a cartoon once..."

[opensuse-buildservice] OBS DoS caused by a broken package

Hello, right now the OBS is mostly idle, trying to repeatedly build home:prusnak:scout/scout. The full log I managed to capture is at http://pastebin.ca/1773632, the interesting parts seem to be: ===== ... preinstalling bash... ... preinstalling libreadline6... ... /bin/bash: error while loading shared libraries: libreadline.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! ===== I'm not sure why exactly this got broken, but home:prusnak:scout includes also a bash package, so I assume the preinstall somehow used packages also from there, and it got somehow messed up. The real problem however is that the OBS was repeatedly trying to dispatch this build, it failed almost immediately and the OBS retried again, and again, and again. It managed to dispatch about 1 other build per minute. I think this is a consequence of the recent fix that retries builds that failed because of the build host itself instead of the package. Hi, To make it possible to know when a package could be updated to a new upstream version, I'd like to have two new attributes: + OBS:UpstreamVersion - would contain the latest upstream version for the upstream module + OBS:UpstreamTarballURL - would contain the URL of the latest upstream tarball Right now, the idea is to have an external script update those attributes. I started building packages on my (once again) reinstalled openSUSE 11.2 with OBS 1.7 b3. Hi, It looks like the api doesn't output the correct XML for package attributes: namespace and name are not split. For example, I get: <attribute name="OBS:Screenshots"> for a package while I get: <attribute namespace="OBS" name="Screenshots"> for a project.
