Hi, leaving feedback and suggestion. Feedback 1 - I formatted the PC again, with the online installer Tumbleweed 20230628. During the process, the internet stopped and came back several times, both on WiFi and on the wired with RJ45. I used the wire to format. 2 - 4k60fps, 8k60fps are crashing on youtube. The pc supports it, on windows 11 runs 4k well👍 3 - In the terminal, with the tlp-stat -v command, it shows that there is a driver missing for the host bridge, system peripheral, and ISA bridge. Also the touchpad disable button is not working on linux. The battery is not recharged when it is above 90%. I believe it is because of the acpi, sgx and x509 error that always shows at the beginning of the boot. Although everything is up to date and with sgx enabled in the bios. 4 - in the settings of the dolphin file manager, sending usage comments did not appear. In system settings, option to configure system updates did not appear, options to configure offline manual update etc. Suggestion 1 - Greater hardware acceleration support. Louder audio volume. Free up all onboard video memory. 2 - If possible, optimize for steam to go better, with more proton support, steam play etc. I play games: Mudrunner (proton), Fishing planet (linux native). I also have Burnout paradise remastered, but I haven't been able to play it yet, it needs more support too. To open Ea play and game well. 👍😅 3 - Make Kde plasma smoother with wayland, because it has low fps, 😅 4 - Option to configure the dead zone of the joystick in the system settings. For the greatest possible accuracy, and integrate well with the steam settings. Secure boot, encryption and other security parameters enabled, since formatting. Swap with same size as ram. Tlp linerunner activated, with priority to maximum performance in AC. I use headphones from Lg too. Generic usb joystick too. opensuse15.5 without errors installed, but it ends in a disaster

Hallo Peter, please excuse me. It lasts some time to overcome my internal resistence to send an email to Comunity. First of all during installation I got on screen an information: 'violation of signature'. I installed opensuse.15.5 dispite a warning. With version 15.3 everything was perfect. I could create a virtuell space. Pushing buttons 'escape and start' I started an other Linux from an USB-stick. The more I tried to realise to start my USB stick, the more I drifted into a disaster. In the meantime announsments poppt up: 'security Violation'. Booting an other version of Suse, I succided to install 'Tumpleweed'. I was still in hope to start from zero my USB-stick. Never the less in Leap15.5 there was something configured with 'ssh'. The part'settings' -----> Remote log in' was the reason why everyting went wrong. there was an encrypted connection all the time open to SuseLinux. But I got no information to resolve encryotion. Tumpleweed was installed anew downloading 500 packages from 1200, after 500 packages all the screen became red. I could not overcome the ssh encryption. Finally I have send my ZenBook to Asus to repair it. Thats the whole story. Its clear that a ' KI ' was responsable for the situation. kindly Dr. Neubauer PS: My user name has changed from ' eller ' to 'kro'

Fundamental issue

I'm starting to run into software that requires versions of glibc higher than 2.31, which is the highest available on Leap. I see that Tumbleweed has 2.37 available, but I suspect that installing that on Leap might be ... dangerous? or not? Leslie -- Platform: Linux Distribution: openSUSE Leap 15.4 (x86_64)

Maybe a virus per mail in pdf?

Hallo everybody, since a week I am a bit frightend: I got a mail with wrong signature, within a pdf file. I opened the pdf with okular, because I trust the person who sent. After some time I noticed that in Kmail the order names switched from German to English (Posteingang to inbox, Postausgang to outbox, Gesendet to sent-mail). Before, I still used X-server. After that I switched to wayland. Is that an attack? Must I be frightened? Kind regards, Tobias

Ola, deixando um Feedback sobre o Opensuse Tumbleweed: 1 - A internet desliga constantemente quando é usado via cabo Rj45, no wifi tambem. Isso aconteceu em ambos instaladores do opensuse, e durante o uso do opensuse tambem a internet para constantemente. A internet esta estavel, 👍👍 2 - No Kde plasma, a opcao de envio de feedback dos usuarios, nao apareceu nas configuracoes. Tambem nao apareceu no dolphin. Tambem o tema do opensuse desaparece quando e reiniciado a maquina, quando é utilizado o wayland. 3 - 4K60fps trava constantemente no firefox, google chrome. I've tried several times to do a zypper dup today, but everytime I get this error: Problem retrieving files from 'NVidia drivers'. Download (curl) error for 'https://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/tumbleweed/repodata/repomd.xml': Error code: Curl error 92 Error message: HTTP/2 stream 5 was not closed cleanly: PROTOCOL_ERROR (err 1) History: - Giving up after 3 attempts. With the browser I can fetch this file without a problem. What is going wrong here? regards, Jogchum

SDDM in a multimonitor system

Hello everyone. I have a multimonitor system, with two Medion and one Lenovo. The Medion are not native DP, but use an adapter to achieve connectivity. The Lenovo is native DP. One Medion stands on the right of the Lenovo, the other on the left. Now, when starting in Plasma there the order is fine and defined in settings: Medion on the left, Lenovo, Medion on the right. But when having the three login screens I encounter the problem that this order is not respected. Medion is on the left, then the cursor jumps to the uttermost right to the second Medion and turns then to the Lenovo. So for SDDM the order is Medion, Medion, Lenovo. Now my question: is there a way I can enforce the very order of monitors defined in plasma KDE onto SDDM? In some situation (seems stupid, but the cursor is small) it is difficult to understand how to reach the input window and you may think the cursor vanished while it is just on a "monitor odyssey" so to say. Thank you for the input if anybody by chance knows how to do this, were to set it.

Emacs and (color) emoji

One of my Linux machines w/ Tumbleweed (which were both using the same base installation, but have probably diverged a bit during the years of using them for different tasks) shows color emoji in Emacs, while the other doesn't. I can't find out which package and/or configuration is responsible for that, any ideas? Snapshot 20230612 had broken QtWebEngine & Chromium under Plasma Wayland

Hi, With latest snapshot 20230612 in Plasma Wayland session QtWebEngine started to crash on start, affecting Falkon, KMail/Kontact. Also Chromium (Ozone native wayland) runs but WebGL is slow (with similar log messages). I suspect Mesa 23.1.2 update, but it maybe also a KDE Framework 5.107 (something Wayland related). I've filled a bugreport [1]. Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren ich möchte Ihnen mitteilen, dass mir auf LEAP 15.5 dauerhaft dauerhaft ein roter Bildschirm meine Arbeit beendete. Überdies erhielt ichNachrichten wie ' Security policy Violation ' ich dachte könnte ein Laptop von 2000 Euro in die Tonne werfen. Desweiteren gibt es einen offenen ' Remote Login ' Ich konnte Leap 15.5 komplett löschen. Ich denke Nur eine KI kann so schnell auf Versuche reagieren. Armes Deutschland, wenn wir alle von einer KI gesteuert werden. Aus diesem Grund verabschiede ich von Ihnen. Dr. Neubauer PS. wenn Sie die Leute besser informieren, würde vieles besser laufen.

kaffeine hangs with "waiting for disk"

I have a Hauppauge Card for DVB-S. When I watched before kaffeine no problem, I changed the mainboard, the application works but, if I change channel it does not work. Further strangeness, on channel sound works, another channel perfect picture, no sound. When trying to switch channel the app hangs. Now that goes on: trying to kill the PID in question gives nothing. Within the ksysguard you get feedback "waiting for disk". How can I discern if this is a) firmware, b) software or c) hardware related. How could I kill that process? It goes away if I reboot, but I cannot kill it apparently. What is also puzzling: nothing apparent or related to kaffeine in the logs. Any clue were I should begin to search? Thank you.

RAID Resync on every reboot

One of my servers shows the issue, that RAID resync is started on every reboot since around two weeks. The server showed this behavior occasionally already in the past, but now it is on every reboot. I believe that the RAID is not terminated correctly on reboot. But I can't find any matching messages in the log. Configuration issues or hardware failures (timeouts etc., but no I/O errors or S.M.A.R.T. errors) are also possible. The server was updated with all openSUSE Leaps versions starting 2016. Maybe I should re-create the /etc/mdadm.conf with "mdadm --detail --scan > /etc/mdadm.conf"? Any ideas? openSUSE Leap 15.4 - here: Appimage administration

Hello all, currently I have the problem to extract one single file in an existing AppImage. My idea is: 1) extract the complete AppImage 2) exchange of the incorrect file 3) reassemble the changed AppImage With regard to this, I found an hint under https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/AppImage/[1] here extraction of AppImage: ./NAME_OF_FILE.AppImage --appimage-extract In openSUSE Leap 15.4 this does not work, because there is no package existing, that could carry out the operation. Running an instance of TW on another instance of TW, but is valid for all hosts: is there a way to make sure the host has always enough bandwith no matther what the guest does (e.g. an upgrade with hundreds of package) so that e.g. my mail is not timing out? So can I prioritize the requests of the host vs guest. Thank you.

Problem configuring GMail in Thunderbird on Leap 15.5

According to the documentation is entering the GMail mail address and password enough to let Thunderbird configure the access to the IMAP service of GMail. However Thunderbird shows a message that it does not know how to do that. Thunderbird is installed from from the Main repository and has version 102.10.1. USB-ports stay closed using buttons ' start and escape ' simultaneously to start an other Linux

Hallo, after updating, nothing has changed, USB-ports are still closed except a BIOS screen poped up immediately. BIOS gave no better results. Formerly an unknown passphrase poped up. I guess updatting the system lead to a change no longer demanding a passphrase but instead the BIOS sreen appeared. opening:( Settings ---->Sharing -----> Remote Login ( was open, could not be closed)( In the meantime I got an information: (Security Violation : Something is lousy going wrong) when I tried to close 'remote login' I got an information ' ssh linux local', try 'secure shell comand'. I think this is no longer my turn. I am a user and no developer. Has anybodythe same problem as me. I only try to start an other Linux from a stick but USB-ports remain closed. i work with Leap 15.5 Leap 15.3 I could start an other LInux without problems. dr.8 Kronos

Mirror error

Hi, after installing TW/Krypton, I changed the mirrors to http://provo-mirror.opensuse.org because the default one connected me to a mirror here in LATAM which was slow (it took about 2 hours to install). I was a few hours more using it, downloaded other packages and never launched new updates. A couple of days ago I went back to continue testing and it notifies me that there are +500 updates, I take a quick look and I realized that certain packages were going to be downgraded. I manually check the mirror and I notice that inside the unstable KDE repo there are two directories that are synchronized until Oct 2022 http://provo-mirror.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Unstable:/Applications/K… and http://provo-mirror.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Unstable:/Extra/KDE_Unst…. As I said the day I made the change did not show me any new update, so that de-synchronization happened later, I imagine it has to do with the problem that occurred a few days ago.

in trying to use a different version of gcc/+libs/+binutils I have run into a problem -- namely that ld seems to use a hard coded path (or two): /home/devel/root/usr/bin> ldd ./ld ./ld: /lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.34' not found (required by ./ld) linux-vdso.so.1 (0x00007ffcc6340000) libbfd-2.40.0.20230412-4.so => not found libctf.so.0 => not found libc.so.6 => /lib64/libc.so.6 (0x00007f724619b000) /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00007f7246c7a000) The 'ld' prog from binutils ignores LD_LIBRARY_PATH and points to the root to resolve libc, a few other libs that are not found and ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (hard-coded to /lib64 instead of using LD_LIBRARY_PATH Is this necessary?

I set my PATH=/home/devel/root/usr/bin:$PATH When I tried running 'gcc --version', I got(get): /home/devel/root/usr/bin/gcc-13 --version gcc: symbol lookup error: /home/devel/root/usr/lib64/libc.so.6: undefined symbol: _dl_audit_symbind_alt, version GLIBC_PRIVATE ----- Any ideas as to why this didn't work? Long ago I noticed on Leap at least that the initial installed initrd is significantly larger than rebuilds or those for newer kernels. I'd like to know why, so I thought I could find (a) .conf file(s) on a boot from installation media. No such luck, NAICT. There are few small files in */usr/lib/dracut/dracut.conf.d/, but they don't really look like they're big enough, or contain the right kind of content, to be responsible: 113 multipath.conf 112 50-sg3_utils.conf 147 dm-parts.conf /etc/dracut.conf.d/ doesn't exist, and neither /etc/dracut.conf. multipath.conf only has comment and: install_items+=" /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/multipath.conf " dm-parts.conf only has comment and: install_items+=" /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/11-dm-parts.rules " 50-sg3_utils.conf only has comment and: install_items+=" /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/54-before-scsi-sg3_id.rules " How can I find out what is responsible for making them significantly bigger? -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science.
