I did the best I could manager to match installed packages on 15.5 to those on 15.4. It wound up with a slightly different total apparently due to some changed deps, but KDE3 system sounds do not work (yet aplay does):
I got KDE3 system sounds to work:
1: # zypper in pipewire-libjack-0_3 2: manually select Jack audio device in KControl sound system hardware.

Answer to biggest problem found: I forgot to use alsamixer, which found master all the way down on the bottom. Raising to max recommended made it reasonable. Kmix remains useless, so I still need to find something that works for the systray.
I tried susepaste alsa-info.txt multiple times, but they always generate 404s. :( Anyone know an alternate command-line pastebinner for openSUSE?-- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science.
