Both bugs 436758[1] and 386359[2] have been open for a year or more,
both relating to YaST & the Control Center.
The first recommends YaST, in the right hand side of the Computer
menu, should be renamed to something more descriptive, like
"Administrator Settings". This was originally opened against 11.1 but
was pushed back.
[1] https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=436758
The second recommends re-adding Common Tasks to the Control Center, as
we had during 10.2. It was quick shortcuts to tasks (like Add a
Printer, Manage Accounts, Change Default Applications) that can be
quickly done in either the Control Center or YaST. This was originally
opened against 11.0(!).

Is there enough time to get these two usability issues settled before 11.2?
Thanks,

I'm seeing a minor issue on OpenSUSE 11.1 in which the mouse pointer stays
in its "spinning circle" mode for 30 seconds or more after logging into
Gnome. I've tried checking running processes but there does not appear to
be any processes that are causing this. The process table is identical
both shortly after logging in while the mouse pointer is spinning, and a
minute after login at which point the pointer has gone back to normal.
I realize this is a minor cosmetic issue, however it is kind of annoying
because it seems to be telling the user "don't do anything yet, the
computer is busy." And the user will just sit staring at the spinning
wheel impatiently, even though Gnome has completely finished loading and
is ready for use.
Anyone know what might be causing this?

Hi all,
When we do a default GNOME install, we will also get a Firefox plugin
for beagle to index the online history. I like to know if people want
this to be automatically installed or not.
So, can you please reply to the list (ctrl+l in evolution) and let us
know if this firefox plugin should be installed by default or not.
[ ] Install by default
[ ] Do not install by default
Cheers,
Magnus
Ps.
If beagle is not installed or enabled, this should not really affect
performance in a noticeable way.

This is not a rant against beagle. Please read the email again if thats
what you think it is.

Ps3.
Can we all agree to have one week exactly for this vote so that we can
decide to keep or remove it from the patterns.

Hi,
As suggested by Captain Magnus, I started this survey to see what you
people feel about installing DownThemAll plugin (a download manager)
for Firefox by default.
Link to Survey: http://en.opensuse.org/Surveys
You have to click on the link under "Currently active survey(s)" for voting.
More information about the plugin can be found in:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/201 and
in http://www.downthemall.net/howto/features/
Survey closes on September 6th, 2009.

Hello all,
For those of you who are planning to attend the first ever openSUSE
Conference, the GNOME team have booked a nice Unconference [2] session
to discuss everything GNOME in openSUSE on Thursday between 10.30 -
12.15 [1].
Hope to see you all there!
Cheers,
Magnus

anyway? :-)

Hey,
I've changed the GNOME:Factory (and GNOME:Backports:Factory)
configuration to build against openSUSE:Factory/snapshot instead of
oS:F/standard.
This should help us not be blocked when oS:F is being rebuilt. See the
discussion on opensuse-packaging for more information.
If you have a G:F branch, please check your branch configuration and
update it too:
osc meta -e home:vuntz:branches:GNOME:Factory
and change the line:
<path repository="standard" project="openSUSE:Factory"/>
to this:
<path repository="snapshot" project="openSUSE:Factory"/>
Thanks,
Vincent
