Hi,
Since I tried 11.2 M6, up to current GM, the gnome screensaver does not set my display to sleep.
In Screensaver preferences, I have set "regard the computer as iddle after 12 minutes", and in power
management preferences, I have "put display to sleep after 5 minutes".
It doesn't work.
Where do I look? Is it a known bug? A configuration issue somewhere?

Hi folks,
It seems there is interest in reshaping Yast Gnome's
software manager, which admittedly is guilty of
design heresies and other sins. I am willing to supply
the man-power, you guys make the demands.
One way to go about it is to systematically normalize
the UI elements, such as converting the status buttons
to tabs- I wonder however if people have more fundamental
issues about it.
Tell me what you like the most about the UI and don't
want touched, and what you disliked the most and would
like nuked.
For instance, would you miss the changes sidebar if
we demoted it to an items called "Summary" over the categories
box?
What about the "Upgrades" button?
Feel free to suggest new features such as customizable
columns.

Hello listmates,
I noticed that after dist-upgrade 11.1 to 11.2, my Gnome autostart apps.
stopped to works: no more apps autostart after logged in.
Yesterday I tried to add a new one app. (software update) to the ones
existing from previous 11.1 configuration and it seems to work as
expected: it autostarts correctly.
Wonder if it is necessary to reload all the apps. I will to autostart
from scratch, or is there a reset/reconfiguration procedure I can follow
to resolve this issue.
Thank for your attention.
Cheers,

Done that. Restarting X still does not start a window manager. And 3D
effects have now been completely disabled. Attempting to run the
utility simple-ccsm in order to enable 3D fails with a Python stack
trace and hangs:
awilliam@linux-m3mt:~/.gconfd> simple-ccsm

I've deleted .gconf/apps/compiz and .compiz and tried again with the
same result.
Arg! I still have compiz-0.7.8 even though I did the above...
awilliam@linux-m3mt:~> rpm -q compiz
compiz-0.7.8-75.1.i586

All my 11.2 upgrades have gone swimmingly, except on. On the machine I
use the most - of course. :)
Everything "works". I can log into GNOME, and 3D effects are enabled,
and the display is perfect. Except I have no window manager (windows
are not decorated and I can't switch windows). If I run "metacity &" in
a gnome-terminal then I can operate but all the windows have a
semi-transparent border around them (although geometry seems to be
working correctly). I assume this is because the compiz window manager
component isn't starting? "gtk-window-decorator" is running, as is
"compiz" and "compiz-manager".
Any suggestions?

Hi team,
A big thanks to everybody who contributed to making the GNOME experience
enjoyable for users for openSUSE 11.2 :-) We were not perfect, and there
are some bugs left, but we still managed to do a good job!
Of course, it's time to party! Let's all make sure we have fun in the
next few days to celebrate all this. And pictures are of course welcome
:-)
As a final note, if you find an annoying bug in 11.2, please make sure
to report it and also make sure we know about it so can release online
updates. It's even better if you can link to an upstream patch,
obviously ;-) But I suggest we take a few weeks to focus on important
bugs we want to see fixed (while also doing some factory work), so we
can offer an even better desktop on 11.2! And since the maintenance work
is now open to the community, we can rock there too!
Cheers,
Vincent

Hey guys,
I've been invited as a representative of the GNOME-A11y team to
participate in the upcoming GNOME Marketing Hackfest on November 10-11
right here in Chicago! I'm still in shock that something actually
happens in Chicago (aka Windowsland)
Essentially, its a hackfest to examine current material used to market
GNOME to the masses and update/create new material.
While I am there as a representative of GNOME-A11y, I still thought it
would be useful to get all of your thoughts from an openSUSE GNOME
perspective on what you think needs to be considered for marketing.
Your thoughts (No, Magnus... Not *those* thoughts!) and comments are
truly welcomed.
Thanks,
