[opensuse-gnome] Video issues

I'm not sure if this is GNOME (GDM, clutter, gnome-shell?) but it started when I grabbed some of the 3.3.92 packages (and maybe a new kernel). Has anyone reported AMD video issues and can I fix them with an update? Since a number of updates on Thursday my laptop very quickly boots into an unreadable screen that is locked up solid. With failsafe mode I'm able to get to Console 2 (the boot messages never finish in Console 1), but a corresponding kernel upgrade seems to have left me without networking, in the current 3.3 kernel or anything back to 3.1 that is still available in my grub menu. To regain my wireless connection, hopefully I just need to track down the latest Realtek firmware rpm and install it from a USB stick. The video problem seems to be kernel-independent, since it exists for any non-failsafe grub entry, not just the new one. The Radeon driver has performed splendidly since just after Desktop Summit, when I was in a similar situation (no video, no wireless). I hope to get back my Internet connection and zypper update out of this mess. I now dual-boot Mageia on this laptop, and the 3.3.92 transition went flawlessy there; unfortunately all of my docs repositories and ssh key work from openSUSE. It'd be useful to decide what to focus on until the 12.2 release, now that we have most of 3.4.0 in GNOME:Factory (still building, though). [opensuse-gnome] Gnome 3.4 Live Images

Hi all! I think this is my first post in this list, so, first of all, I'm this one [1] :] The reason for to write this mail is about the Gnome 3.4 Live Images. Since I'm not subscribed to the marketing list, Alejandro Pinheiro forwarded this thread to me [2]. (I'm putting Sriram Ramkrishna on CC, as he started the thread on gnome-marketing because I'm not sure if he's subscribed to opensuse-gnome) I was involved with the Gnome 3.2 live images, and I would have loved to get some time for the 3.4 ones, but it was impossible for several reasons. In fact, I started it, but I had to stop it. :( I think we can cook something cool with a little effort, as Vincent said, the packaging stuff is almost done (kudos to everyone involved!), so I'll try to get some time during the weekend for this. Don't know if it is useful now, but a couple months ago I started to build a gnome 3.4 repo on top of 12.1 [3], and could be, a good point to start from. isn't it? I don't have a lot of time, so I need help on this and all the help provided will be awesome! If anyone is interested, I'll give permissions on OBS to work on the repo. About the images, I started it, but nothing pushed to OBS, but the gnome3-2 image [4] was my starting point. Thanks in advance!! [opensuse-gnome] GNOME 3.4.0 in GNOME:Factory

Hi, We have GNOME 3.4.0 in GNOME:Factory: we had most of it published yesterday already, but a few updates were released upstream in the meantime. We got everything in again, and this morning everythig is published again :-) For those who wonder what's new in 3.4: http://library.gnome.org/misc/release-notes/3.4/ All in all, it seems to work nicely so I submitted to Factory (except for two packages, see below). The issues I'm aware of are: - keybindings still don't work; it's not new and I think it's because we have an old xorg server. But not 100% sure yet. - system users are appearing in the gdm login dialog (and in the control center users panel); that's because of a change of how users are filtered in accountsservice now. I've raised the question on opensuse-packaging. I didn't push accountsservice to Factory because of this. - the soversion of the library in gdl is wrong, so I didn't push it to Factory. We're waiting for a > 3.4.1 tarball upstream. Now we can try building things for 12.1, if there's interest for this. [opensuse-gnome] Network manager and sound on SUSE Studio appliance

Hello, I'm trying to create an appliance with SUSE Studio. The livecd doesn't show Network icon and cound icon on the top right corner. What packages I have to install to see them? Hey there! Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, but its more curiosity than concern atm... I was doing a zypper dup of my server which obviously has no desktop installed on it. I noticed that it was updating package libproxy1-config-gnome3 and I got to wondering why such a package would be included if I don't have GNOME installed. Any enlightenment would be appreciated. I ran a zypper se gnome just to see if there were any other GNOME packages installed and the libproxy was the only one. Makes me also wonder what other GNOME packages that don't have "GNOME" in the name are installed on the server. If there is a zypper command that tells me what pulled in that package, I don't know it. [opensuse-gnome] GNOME Terminal keyboard mapping

Another thing that isn't necessarily specific to openSUSE GNOME, but it still works in Mageia. I use Ctrl-r constantly to access bash history, and occasionally end-of-history (M->). The latter stopped working a few weeks ago after some zypper update, and I can't figure out where to reconfigure it. Does anyone know?
