[opensuse-gnome] /GNOME wiki update

I just wanted to send out an update on the wiki 'renovation' progress. I've got a mockup in an HTML file, but I'm finding it incredibly difficult to implement the idea of images on the wiki. They'll need to be uploaded to the server that is hosting the wiki as you cannot link to offsite images. We may have to fly without them if need be. I'm also working on a script to automate the process of updating the wiki for our meetings. I believe yaloki has a better project in mind, but is quite busy. Hopefully (if I can finish this thing), my version will tide us over until then. -- Christopher M. [opensuse-gnome] Wiki Meeting Summary

Well, for just a whirlwind summary, we met for the wiki cleanup and have come up with a few tasks to take care of. I kept a bulleted list of the discussion here: http://en.opensuse.org/User:Hobbsc/GNOME_Wiki_Cleanup_Notes I’ll start work on a mockup of a landing page in the next few days. I will also open up discussion on the list once I’ve got something solid in place. The mockup (currently blank) will be available here: http://en.opensuse.org/User:Hobbsc/GNOME_Wiki_Mockup Thanks to everyone who attended, I appreciate all the input. I think this will work out well for us. Lastly, I have a bit of a support request. We’ll be periodically checking the /GNOME section of the wiki for lost or un-necessary pages. Does anyone know of a simple way to search for lost pages under /GNOME? What about a way to track page changes under that namespace? -- Christopher M. [opensuse-gnome] Build failures in the build service

Hey, I used most of today to investigate/fix some build failures in G:F (which should also help with oS:F). I'm posting here in case some people want to help finish this work... FWIW, a useful link for this is: https://build.opensuse.org/project/monitor?code[]=failed&code[]=expansion+e… Here's the current state: beagle-index: nothing provides kino, nothing provides RealPlayer, nothing provides yast2-schema, nothing provides yast2-schema needed by autoyast2, nothing provides gnuchess => not quite sure what to do here. Just remove the build requires? bundle-lang-gnome: failing. I didn't investigate. gconf2-branding-SLED/gconf2-branding-SLES: nothing provides desktop-data-SLED => I wonder why desktop-data-SLED isn't in the build service? gdm-branding-openSUSEa: failing. => needs to be updated for the new GDM, I believe. glib2: failing. Some weird error: /usr/src/packages/BUILD/glib-2.18.1/gobject/.libs/glib-genmarshal: error while loading shared libraries: libglib-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory => I'm not quite sure why we're having this now, and this never happened before. gtk2: failing. => same as glib2. libgda: failing. => but we want to go back to libgda 3.x instead of 3.9/4.0. Magnus is trying to talk to darix for this. pango: failing. => same as glib2. pulseaudio: failing. Following my custom, I fire yast (I like the -qt version of the software module more), instead of clicking the icon below. I do the updates. The applet doesn't notice and still says there are updates pending; this is expected. The problem is that there is no option to tell it "refresh now". Only weekly, hourly, daily. Not even "custom". Not nice. Maybe you should reconsider the gnome treat of not offering options, and create a setting to switch gnome into a more customizable environment with more clutter of options. At our choice, clutter, no clutter. I am a long time user of gnome, but often I miss features. It maybe right not offering a clutter of features for novices or people not needing them, but it would be nicer to have them at the flick of a switch for more advanced or inquisitive users. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. The print dialog is mainly the Gtk one with just small customizations in Firefox' usage. Probably one of our Gnome guys can comment on that? [opensuse-gnome] Timeshift discussion

Regarding our weekly openSUSE-GNOME meetings, we had a discussion this morning about our regularly scheduled timeshift meetings which occur first of the month at 11:00 UTC. It was agreed that that hour isn't proving effective in getting regular attendance and that we needed to consider a more optimal time, if we even continue timeshifts at all. I've discussed possibilities with several people in different key areas globally to get a feel and am presenting the findings for discussion on this email thread. Please review and communicate your thoughts. Depending on the responses, we may go with the new timeshift next week: Option 1) Eliminate Timeshifting altogether. This would make it very difficult for people in eastern Asia/Australia to attend meetings. Option 2) Create new timeshift for 23:00 UTC. This seems to get the widest support globally. However, India (Our beloved Evo team) would be left out. I discussed with Srag, and they were unable to attend the old timeshift meeting anyway and for them regular time meetings are best. They said they would be comfortable with missing a timeshift meeting. FYI: 23:00 UTC = 6 p.m. for you folks in the U.S. Midwest and Mexico, and late evening (after Rodrigo's television shows) in Europe and 9 a.m. in Sydney, land of the Magnus.
