[opensuse-support] KOrganizer: Meeting requests off by one hour

Hi *, I already filed a bug report, but I wanted to ask, if I am the only one facing this problem: Not exactly sure, when this started, but in the last few days I observed, that meeting requests are off by one day, when sent from KOrganizer/Kontact. This does not happen for example with Evolution. To reproduce: Schedule a meeting for today with some attendees, look at the mail that was sent, you'll find a "corrected" date to yesterday. The meeting request arrives in the attendees' mailboxes with this "corrected" date. I was in serious trouble, because all my vacation requests to my company had the wrong date 8-( Thx andy bye. I have down-loaded OS-TW today (26 June) and burned it to DVD. I want to ADD it to a Windows system on a new computer. I have partitioned the SSD as follows: P1 EFS sys fat32 P2 Microsoft reserved p3 Basic data ntfs P5 / ext4 46 GiB boot,esp P6 /home ext 234 GiB P7 linux swap 27 GiB p4 ntfs Basic data parttion (windows) I had OpenSuse installed before, but on a computer that went to computer heaven--or hell? --and had no trouble with dual booting, but in this case, the new computer came with no Windows disk or microsoft key, so if I louse it up, there will be a problem getting software, and I would like to keep the Windows part, even tho severely attenuated, and I'm not sure the new software supports dual boot. If the partitioning scheme could be better, I can still modify it, if necessary--like is there too much space for P5? I doubt that I will use up P6, ao I don't really need the space. (I have stuck with ext4 since other Linux systems use it and can read files written to that FS.) There has been some correspondence on the net that says that after update, the system won't boot. Is this going to be a problem with this version? Hi, I'm currently struggeling with the setup of a user in a different language. The system-language is german, and the user language in KDE is set to English (which worked only after installing a second language in KDE - https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=422636 ) KDE and most KDE programs come up in English, but other programs - VirtualBox, Audacity, VLC still come up in german (-lang files installed) test@X1E:~> export | grep LANG declare -x LANG="de_DE.UTF-8" declare -x LANGUAGE="en_US:de" The second setting is probably made by KDE. Is there a way to get this single user fully set up in English? Ideally in a simple manner for non-experienced users? The desktop system is: Operating System: openSUSE Leap 15.1 KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.71.0 Qt Version: 5.15.0 Kernel Version: 4.12.14-lp151.28.52-default OS Type: 64-bit Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz ....with an external USB Webcam, Logitech 930e. The webcam including inbuilt mic, and sound playback, all work perfectly in Zoom. But Skype doesn't detect any of the camera, the camera's microphone, or the speakers. Zoom is at 5.1.412382.0614_openSUSE-1.x86_64 Skype is at skypeforlinux-8.61.0.95-1.x86_64 I've trawled the internet extensively and found much advice and/or workarounds for the problem, but none of it works for me. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Skype, including backleveled versions and even a Snap install. But Skype still flatly refuses to "see" the camera, the mic or the speakers, though Zoom (and vlc) have no such problem. The new proprietary nvidia drivers (G05 440.82-lp151.30.1) for the 5.7 kernel were released. Works for me with 5.7.3 and Leap 15.1 with no problems noticed yet. Didn't work for me with 5.7.1 for some reason but that one is toast already anyway. Hi, following up on an earlier question, I have somehow managed to have a lot of missing fonts in KDE / Tumbleweed. No idea if an update went wrong or a rpmsave killed this....this is mostly annoying in KMail Question...how can I recreate font settings? I tried /usr/sbin/fonts-config but that did not change anything. Any ideas? Thanks! [opensuse-support] HTTPS for package downloads?

I'm wondering what the pros and cons are when using HTTPS for package downloads in openSUSE. By default, all repos are added as HTTP. When adding an additional repo, for example multimedia:apps[1], the link will be HTTPS since websites redirect to that nowadays. I suppose zypper and YaST aren't vulnerable to something like CVE-2019-3462[2][3], and load balancing works over both HTTP and HTTPS, right? Hi Together, after setup of a new user, I can't open/download any PDF file. It opens a new window, but it stays grey - nothing happens. There is on the left side a dialog to download or print the file. But still a paper with an Frowning Face inside. Any idea how to change the settings, and select download/open feature instead internal usage? PS: Will be nice if "libqt5-qtpdf-imports" is required to use Falkon, that this will be added in the dependencies. [opensuse-support] Usable taskbar appearing on SDDM login screen

Hi This is a strange one, it has happened a few times since 5.19 was installed. I've attached a small image of it. Occasionally the taskbar from the user i logged out of gets loaded on the SDDM login screen. I can click on Firefox and it will load my logged out users' set up with all the correct tabs open and i can use it. I've logged this as a Plasmashell issue with a "grave" status. I want to configure the pulseaudio daemon on KDE Plasma. There are files in ~/.pulse already, including 'daemon.conf' The pulseaudio manual doesn't mention this user config location, just ~/.config/pulse What generates these files in ~/.pulse? Can I edit them or will they be overwritten?

Hi, I might have asked similar before - if I did - I did not get anywhere. Could anyone point me to some useful resources/repo/mailingList about how/where is openSuSE 15.2 installation image put together? I would like to make fairly trivial modification to the upcoming installation media, so that I can use it for basic headless installation. There used to be mksusecd tool, but it looks like that it was last used for openSuSE 13.x series. I suspect that kiwi-NG maybe used to create installation media theses days, but I cannot find 15.2 installation media description. I also went through the mailing lists and OBS projects and I cannot find the 15.2 project. factory=thumbleweed .... so I am not sure where would be the best place to ask. Anyway, I have bunch of fairly inaccessible closet servers - it is not practical to attach a screen to them and they do not have remote management like Aspeed 2500 (cost + low power). At the same time, I would love to stay fairly aligned to to standard 15.2 distro and its fairly polished installation. Hi all I have a problem with Leap 15.1 and went to sign up with openSUSE forums. I received a validation email, which contained neatly ordered garbage but no validation code. The sender of this email is the webmaster from microfocus, but an email to that address just bounces. I have since discovered that openSUSE and microfocus are no longer associated. So, given that the validation process is broken, how do I get signed up to the forums? [opensuse-support] 182 coredumps since yesterday

Hi This is only for the last 2 days. I've not monitored /var/lib/systemd/coredumps and i've never removed any coredump files manually so i can't say if its just started happening. This is a list of the coredumps: drkonqi, gst-plugin-scan, kactivitymanage, kdeconnectd, kded5, kdialog, kdialog_progres, kglobalaccel5, kioslave5, klauncher, kscreen_backend, plasmashell, qdbus, sddm-greeter. I had an issue with "qdbus" no longer working in my backup script since 5.19 so that may account for a few of them. i've now updated my backup stript to use "qdbus-qt5" now so i'll see if reduces creating coredumps. [opensuse-support] Logout/Lock widget no longer works as it used to

Hi Since upgrade to tumbleweed:20200609, this widget is behaving completely different. I used to click the logout "button" and it would go straight into the logout process. Now it gives me a screen with choices of "Sleep Hibernate Restart Shutdown Log Out" with "Shutdown" on a 30 second timer as the default selection. Anyone know how i can get it back to the "old" way? [opensuse-support] Plasma5/kscreen losing primary resolution under Leap 15.1

Can anyone suggest how to debug and lock my monitor configuration? I've recently bought a great AOC Q3279VWFD8 monitor to work from home (no prizes for guessing why), which can be driven at 2580x1440 @75Hz via DisplayPort from onboard Intel graphics (Core i5-2500K) with an H67M-GE/HT motherboard. Most time the monitor sleeps it wakes up at a lower resolution (typically 1920x1080, but 1024x768 for extra annoyance). Occasionally I can reconfigure it back up with System Settings -> Display & Monitor. Often I have to repeatedly trick it by powering the monitor off and on, and sometimes it can then be stepped back up to 2580x1440. Often it gets stuck at something like 1920x1080 @ 30Hz. Options are restarting Plasma or letting it go to sleep and reconfigure (not guaranteed). According to the manual my motherboard will only support two outputs (of the four). The second monitor is only needed a few times a week when puzzling over accounts/spreadsheets. I've read around and the various conflicting advice and trails for multi-monitor & Plasma issues go back years. I'm at a bit of a loss to know which bit of behind the scenes magic is going wrong, as I haven't had to concern myself with this kind of setup since the CRT days! I suspect the monitor isn't replying in time with its capabilities.
