[opensuse-support] Cannot complete registration with openSUSEforums

Hi all I have a problem with Leap 15.1 and went to sign up with openSUSE forums. I received a validation email, which contained neatly ordered garbage but no validation code. The sender of this email is the webmaster from microfocus, but an email to that address just bounces. I have since discovered that openSUSE and microfocus are no longer associated. So, given that the validation process is broken, how do I get signed up to the forums? [opensuse-support] broke zypper...

Hi, Just tried updating tumbleweed to the latest snapshot when it hung while installing btrfsmaintenance, so Cntrl-C 'd it (this has happened before).... Then zypper failed with zypper:error while loading shared libraries: libzypp.so.1709 no such file or directory... Is there a fix for this? Everything seems to work fine, but I'm sure I will need zypper !!!! Thanks, mike ps. [opensuse-support] Tumbleweed: powermanagement on notebook always assumes low battery state

Hi *, starting with the latest Tumbleweed snapshot 20190623, KDE powermanagement seems to assume a permanent low battery state on my notebook. The screen is switched off and the system is hibernated after the elapsed time, that has been configured for low battery state. For "on battery" and "on ac power" both settings are off. According to the powermanagement tray applet, there is enough battery for many hours, though, when the display is switched off and after a while the notebook is going to hibernate. Notebook is a DELL XPS 13 9370 docked to a Thunderbolt CalDigit TS3 Plus. An external monitor is connected to the Thunderbolt Dock via DisplayPort. I already opened a bug report, but perhaps someone here has the same problem or - even better - a solution :) Bye. Firefox worked flawlessly via privoxy in 15.0. After update via net with repos, the new install works but not with privoxy activated. Everything gives obviously "page not found". Starting firefox in Safe mode does not change this, but: Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to p.p. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. Error code: SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG is the answer to https//p.p. That was the output, I checked to make sure this is not resolv.conf related: sudo netconfig update -f did run without error, entries seem to be correct. Without setting FF to use privoxy pages load normaly in one user, but in a second user account, it does not load as expected. In this very user, when trying e.g. to set privoxy systemwide via KDE, privoxy gives "not being used". [opensuse-support] disable zypper snapshots?

I wonder if there is a simple option to have a 'zypper dup' *not* create snapshots before and after the update. The update I just did (20190607->20190617) again was close to a full reinstall (3.4GB download), and despite 15GB free at start it ran out of space during the %postinstall scripts. The last big one (compiler/libc change) I could only perform by starting it, and then, from a second terminal, immediately manually delete the pre snapshot... I was skimming through snapper and zypper configs, but didn't find a solution. Was I blind, or does it really not exist? Hello all, after upgrading from openSUSE Leap 42.3 to 15.1 we noticed that the SFTP accounts we set up for some webspaces do no longer work, e.g.: Jun 21 10:50:31 it-708 sshd[22545]: fatal: bad ownership or modes for chroot directory "/srv/www/vhosts/aktive/htdocs" I guess this is caused by your removal of [openssh-7.2p2-sftp_homechroot.patch] during the change * Do Jan 11 2018 pcerny(a)suse.com - Update to vanilla 7.6p1 …, which removed the following feature: | ChrootDirectory […] | In the special case when only sftp is used, not ssh nor scp, it | is possible to use ChrootDirectory %h or ChrootDirectory | /some/path/%u. The file system containing this directory must be | mounted with options nodev and either nosuid or noexec. The owner | of the directory should be the user. The ownership of the other | components of the path must fulfill the usual conditions. No adi- | tional files are required to be present in the directory. [opensuse-support] Tumbleweed USA extremely slow mirror?

Hi all I'm trying to pull down the latest Tumbleweed update via zypper -v dup I am getting almost no download speed. Going and looking at US mirrors I see there are almost none. Mirror brain is routing me to one that is seems slow to be useful. This is not my normal situation. Usually DL speed is just fine. As this Tumbleweed update is almost 1.5GB this could take weeks.
