[opensuse-gnome] Docky for openSUSE GNOME:Apps repository & Submission of nini

Hi Andrew, I am back again with another submission request for our GNOME:Apps repository. Thank you a lot for your submission of smuxi to GNOME:Apps. However, Vuntz wanted me to remind you that nini (a library for smuxi) should stay maintained in Mono.* repository but should get submitted from there for GNOME:Apps repository. Also, we have found that Docky which was earlier packaged as part of gnome-do is now packaged as a separate package under Mono.* repositories. Docky is used by a lot of people who use gnome-do and so I request you to submit this also as part of the GNOME:Apps repository. Let us know if you need any clarification. [opensuse-gnome] Disabling GNOME:Factory build against 11.3

Hi all, I don't think anybody cared about making sure GNOME:Factory builds fine against 11.3 recently. That's mostly because we provide GNOME:STABLE:2.32, I think. Also, as you know, we usually only support Factory and the last stable release in GNOME:Factory. This means 11.4 and Factory in less than two weeks. However, to fix 11.4 issues, we've actually accepted at least a few packages that won't build or work fine on 11.3. So I don't consider that building GNOME:Factory against 11.3 is fine or wise anymore, and I'll disable this right now. The packages that were build last will still stay available, though. At least for some time. [opensuse-gnome] Abandoning Unity for some time...

Dear all, Regarding Unity, I haven't reached actually satisfactory results from most of the git snapshots I've made from Compiz. I haven't managed to even launch it one single time (currently breaks because of missing keys in gconf), and the only thing I'm getting from it is actually frustration. I recon now this task requires far more than I can offer, so I'm leaving it behind until it reaches a more mature state, hopefully with an official release of Compiz and more documentation from Compiz/Unity. If anyone wants to take it, go for it, I'm not deleting any packages and will continue updating them. If no one looks into it, I'll wait until there's an official release from Compiz from the development branch required for Unity and pick it up from there, hopefully by then, things will be more mature. Right now, all I'm getting out of this is frustration, and this is neither good for me or openSUSE, it's supposed to be fun... Either way I have many reservations regarding if a non-tech oriented person like me will ever be able to pull this one out, I have this tiny feeling it's too much sand for my truck. [opensuse-gnome] 11.2 Gnome upgrade to Gnome Stable evolution failure

Mates, Yesterday I tried to update my Gnome 11.2 from 2.28 to 2.30 by enabling G:S:11.2. Everything gone well and I'm on Gnome 2.30, but Evolution stayed at 2.28, then I attempted to force the update to version 2.30 but this was not working and Evolution presented a window without any folders/messages indicating the word "null" on top of its window. Are there any particular instructions to complete the update of Evolution to 2.30? [opensuse-gnome] Tennebon dynamic wallpaper

Hi, While pushing the new default wallpapers for 11.4, I realized we have some nice wallpapers in desktop-data-openSUSE-extra -- I especially like the Tennebon ones. So I created a Tennebon dynamic wallpaper . It's available in home:vuntz/tennebon-dynamic-wallpaper. Or you can grab directly this rpm: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/vuntz/openSUSE_11.3/noarch/… The wallpaper will change during the day, so you should use it a whole day to know how it feels :-) If people think it's worth it, we can probably push it to Factory. [opensuse-gnome] GTK2+ changes for Unity/Ayatana

Dear all, I've finished the necessary modifications to GTK+ (version 2.22.1) necessary to run Ayatana software. I'm only using the required patches to enable the missing symbols and no unnecessary patches. The test project is on[1]. This were the patches included: 1. gtk2-gir_package.patch [2] - This patch fixes a couple of issues with gobject introspection and was modified from the existing one in Ubuntu by Dimstar. Without this patch we can't build the dbusmenu and friends with instrospection. 2. 012_ubuntu-set-grab-add.patch [3] - This patch allows to grab sliders and friends to use them on menus. This patch is required by ido (libido), and therefore libindicate. 3. 043_ubuntu_menu_proxy.patch [4] - This patch is required for appmenu stack and deploys a proxy to send menus through dbus. I've talked to Ubuntu developers and they said that upstream had shown no interest on this patch/functionality. Similiar patch for QT was upstreamed by QT. 4. 072_indicator_menu_update.patch - This patch isn't required but it does help with the appindicators. We might want to use it. This are all the changes required for Ayatana on GTK+. The stuff I didn't use is mainly some backports from GTK3 and minor tweaks. Regarding to GTK+ as I also informed already Vincent, the current stack builds on parallel (there was a warning for testing in the spec). I'm not really sure on how to proceed from this point on, so I'll wait for instructions. [opensuse-gnome] GNOME:Ayatana - wiki page

Hi all, I've created and gave a bit more of care to this wiki page[1] about GNOME:Ayatana. It's mainly oriented for users and not really much technical, though I'm going to insert at least information regarding the important patches. I'm not sure yet on what to do with some applications that require some patches to be enabled with the indicators, so I launch this question, can I use GNOME:Ayatana also to host some packages like evolution patched for libindicate? That that the users can at least have some functionality? (Not planning to maintain many deviations, just empathy and metacity). Any suggestions hints are always welcome, so that I can also work on the Portuguese translation page for this project. [opensuse-gnome] Patch on notify-osd submitted to GNOME:Apps

Hi all, I've submitted a small patch to package 'notify-osd' on GNOME:Apps which fixes a problem that will hit a large number of users. Currently notify-osd will display a small shadow around it, unfortunately this shadow appears corrupted when composite isn't enabled, and recent cards from ATI also seem to have this problem despite of using composite/openGL or not. The patch was taken from upstream and should be merged on the next official release.
