Hi,
on trying to update my 10.2 installation to the current stable gnome BS
packages, I stumbled upon a missing dependency:
gnome-main-menu-0.9.8-120.7.i586 from gnome has depsolving problems
--> Missing Dependency: libssui is needed by package
gnome-main-menu-0.9.8-120.7.i586 (gnome)
which is a bit unfortunate since, the available libssui package is in 10.3
only, which itself needs libxcb-render-util.so.0, which is in xorg-x11-libs
from 10.3.
As it looks, the gnome 10.2 build is busted.
Any ideas?

Hi,
I'd like to propose a change in the gconf configuration we're shipping
so that we don't have to patches schemas when we only want to change a
default value. Also, I'll propose a new package to ship those default
values.
This can be interesting in many ways:
+ less patches :-)
+ easy to remove the opensuse policies (just remove a package)
+ easy to create another package to ship policies for opensuse
derivatives
+ easy to get upstream defaults
Here are the details:
1) First, we change /etc/gconf/2/path to add a new source for the
defaults, between the source for systemwide customizations and the
source for upstream defaults.
It means adding a line like this:
"xml:readonly:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.distro.defaults"
2) Instead of patching schemas files to change the defaults, we create
files for those changes and we'll have them installed in a gconf-y
way in this new /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.distro.defaults
3) Instead of shipping those new files in each package, we create a
gnome-policy-openSUSE package that will ship them
I'm not 100% sure we want step 3, but it might be nice. The first two
steps should be good, though.
What do you think?
(Credits: it's implemented this way in Debian)

A little but healthy discussion ensued today during our weekly GNOME
team meeting about the continued use of RTM for managing our team tasks.
While there were convincing arguments in favor of returning to the Wiki,
there weren't much in favor of keeping RTM.
However, we were mindful of the fact that Boyd wasn't present at the
time and any consensus-building wouldn't be fair without first hearing
Boyd's arguments in favor of RTM. We're sure he has valid points.
To bring Boyd up to speed before he posts his statements and we all
respond in kind (yes be kind!), here's a summary.of what was discussed.
- Some people feel its not comfortable to use
- Some feel separating it out from the wiki isn't a good idea and
everything should stay local
- Some newcomers have pointed out the problem of having to get properly
"accountified" whenever joining new groups or jobs.
- RTM offers benefits that the Wiki doesn't, such as email
notifications, etc.
- Tasky may effectively resolve some of the confusing unweildy uses of
RTM
- (My additional thought) If we all get on Tasky, since its a new
product, we're simultaneously offering ourselves as good testers of
Tasky, thus killing two birds with one stone.
So... Thoughts? Discussions? Starting with Boyd please...
Thanks,

I just flexed my building skills and packaged twitux for openSUSE 10.3.
According to build.opensuse.org, it won't build on factory tho :(.
One-Click URL:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/jhaygood/openSUSE_10.3/twit…
If you want to help port it to run on factory, be my guest (send me the
diffs, and i'll upload them to my home project). I would also like to
propose this for GNOME:Community if possible. I'll maintain it to the
best of my ability (including trying to get it building on FACTORY
eventually)
Thanks,

Hi all
I'm trying to build NetworkManager from SVN on factory. I can't get
autogen.sh to complete. I've installed gnome-common, automake, autoconf,
libtool, intltool, pkg-config, gettext-runtime and gettext-tools, and still
get the following error:

or directly to your aclocal.m4 file.
You will also need config.guess and config.sub, which you can get from
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/config/.
Running intltoolize...
intltoolize: 'po/Makefile.in.in' is out of date: use '--force' to overwrite
I understand that most of the requests and suggestions in the output above are
normally ignored - I get similar output when building on 10.3 successfully.
I get the same result if autogen.sh is run with the args to configure.
captain_magnus tried the same, with the gnome-devel pattern installed, and
got the same result.
Who knows the gnome buildsystem well enough to say what's missing here?
TIA

Earlier this morning (okay VERY early this morning for some of us)
during our weekly meeting, we discussed and voted in favor of giving
Tasky an additional week to test out before rolling back to managing our
tasks on the wiki. Primarily, I wanted to ensure that we leveraged the
opportunity to give Boyd some good feedback on Tasky before we abandoned
RTM.
Since that time, Boyd has gotten up at a decent hour :-) and we
continued our discussion. One important thing that we didn't know about
during our meeting is that Boyd already has newer versions of Tasky
which has even better features for managing our tasks on RTM, including
the ability to delete tasks and adding/managing notes. And I think he
also was going to add the ability to assign tasks to other members
(correct me if I'm wrong Boyd?)
So, we discussed and decided we'd like to propose extending the 1 week
grace period to 4 weeks. And at that point in time, we'll decide
whether to keep RTM or return to the wiki.
Can I get some votes here in agreement of this modified proposal? No,
it is not a complicated voting procedure. No, I do not care whether
you're a Novell employee or not. No, I don't care if you've signed the
Guiding Principles for this vote. :-) Just VOTE!
Understand one thing. The primary purpose of extending the grace period
is to leverage this opportunity to give Boyd some real feedback on
Tasky. I think it's a wonderful opportunity to use a "real-world"
experience for feedback.
Boyd, will you reply here with links to where everyone can get the
latest and greatest version of Tasky and where they can post feedback?
Thanks everyone!
