I would like to have more indepth details about the cross compilation
in the os-bs.
The only infos seam to be:
http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service/cross_distribution_package_how_to
and
http://files.opensuse.org/opensuse/en/5/57/FOSDEM_building.pdf
Could the info on the pdf be posted on the wiki too ?
Maybe as an extention of the cross_distribution_package_how_to page.
Could that info be a bit more detailed please ?
Am I missing something here ? Has this already been documented somewhere ?
The pdf file mentions this :
" per repository dependency rewrite rules:
Substitute: <package> <replacement packages>"
But where do I add that ? To the .spec file ? to the .dsc file ? to both ?

Ok, I'll use createrepo. As you say it's very easy, I've been testing
with some packages and I haven't had any problem :)
And of course, I think I should trust on the word of the Guru's RPM
Site creator ;)
Thanks!

I've created some packages with the build tools and now I would like
to set up a local repository.
What is the tool I should use to create a repository, createrepo or
create_directory.yast?
Thanks!

Hi,
why do some packages are built with debuginfo and some not?
See
http://software.opensuse.org/download/openSUSE:/Tools/SUSE_Linux_10.1/i586/
for example
Is it correct that debuginfo builds are currently not supported in
general by the buildservice?
Thanks,
Peter

Hi,
as we all know, commit notifications are one of the biggest next steps
which are needed to become productive.
I think a CIA tracking system could be the right thing for us. Or at
least it could serve as a model.

I personally have no experience with it. Does anyone? Or better ideas?

First a small rant :)
http://rants.scribus.net/2007/01/12/push-button-packages/
Second, I would like the ability to be able to download the build logs
from the web interface. In cases where there are build failures or
compiler warnings, it would be very useful to download and forward to
devs.
/me sees GCC 4.2 landing soon :)
Cheers,
Peter
Hi guys!
I'd like to add a new project to the OpenSUSE build service.
Our team at Siemens decided to go for an own, quite small Embedded Linux
distribution called Slind (targeted at least for ARM,PPC,MIPS and certainly
x86). It is - after some discussion - Embedded Debian based, but this is
another story.
As I'm in the SUSE fraction in our team ;-), I'd like to provide SUSE tools
for building target images et al. with it. Therefore, I'd like to add a new
OpenSUSE project for it.
Question 1: am I allowed to create such a project with osc and is it ok with
you? (I'm sure no-one is frustrated that we use the build service to in some
way support other distributions, otherwise you wouldn't have added support
for them, right? ;-) )
Question 2: I thought about either usind "Slind", "devel:tools:Slind" or
"devel:tools:building:Slind". Any preferences/objections/suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
PS: Should someone be interested in Slind, please refer to
http://www.emdebian.org/slind.html or http://www.slind.org. But please beware
- it's all rather incomplete and in alpha/beta state...

Hello,
My name is Jordan Zebor and I work for the Educational Technology
Department of San Diego Unified School District. I am very interested
in the build service, specifically so that I can help create a
repository of educational applications to be used with Suse. I have
experience with building apps from source and creating packages.
Currently my build services account has not been enabled even though I
requested this ~ 1 month ago. Who can I contact about the status of my
account and what can i do to get it enabled ? If this is not the
proper channel to request such info please let me know.
Thanks

Hi,
I have updated the Factory snapshot inside of the Build Service. The main
changes, which might cause some trouble to you are:
* Kernel update to 2.6.20 (esp for kmp modules)
* Gnome libs got moved to /usr, this might need changes in depending
packages.
bye

So openSuSE could be affected with US software patents?
