Hi, Is there anyone here who has successfully compiled regard2d? As stated on the project site, ",It converts photos of an object, taken from different angles, into a 3D model of this object." The main site is at https://www.regard3d.org/index.php. There is no Linux binary available, let alone an rpm-package for OpenSuse. There is a link to instructions for compiling it on Linux, and, following that, I tried to compile the first part (OpenMVG), but it halts at MainWindow.cc:(.text+0x30d1): undefined reference to `image_undistort_gui::MainWindow::staticMetaObject' From there I'm to less a programmer as to know how to proceed. Anyone who has compiled this, or wants to guide me in how to make this a success? Any help appreciated! regards, Jogchum

[opensuse-support][15.2] yast2 brother printer setup fails

These are to a test PC. The HL5470DW was set up on my main PC running whichever Leap was installed at the time, possibly 42.1, which has been upgraded to each subsequent release through 15.1, and it's still working as expected. https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Brother_How_to_setup_a_Networked_Printer_Scanner shows last tested with Leap 42.1. :( Two different Brother IP printers connected via ethernet: HL-5470DW MFC-8910DW Each is configured with a static IP (V4 only, same as rest of LAN). I then tried using Brother's Linux installation script. This produced two symbolic link already exists errors, an unsupported document format error for "text/plain", and no such file or directory for /etc/sane.d/dll.conf, plus the test print pages never materialized. Afterward, YaST2 reports 2 of each printer, so 4 in total. I tried opening http://localhost:631/admin to see the same 4 printers, with 3 idle, and one 8910 status "unable to locate printer "BRNMFC8910", which I then canceled. I then tried to print a test page, and received a no such file or directory error. Tail of /var/log/cups/error_log then contained: E [04/Dec/2020:02:55:43 -0500] [Client 210] Returning IPP client-error-document-format-not-supported for Send-Document (ipp://localhost:631/printers/HL5470DW) from localhost E [04/Dec/2020:03:12:09 -0500] [Client 237] Empty Basic username. Same result for the other printer. # journalctl -b | egrep -i 'ailed|rror' produces nothing related to any printer, as dmesg shows, unless 'broken atomic modeset userspace' counts. Where to I go from here? Is this a YaST2 thing? Basesystem? Cups? updating Firefox

I wish to watch Netflix. Messages say need latest Firefox. Downloaded and unzipped the firefox-83.0.tar.bz2 file, which produced a large directory, but no readme, and nothing that looks like I can go further. So what now, experts? Thanx for the help--doug

No Recording Devices Available after Leak 15.1->15.2 upgrade

Hi, I just noticed a new issue after the Leap 15.1->15.2 upgrade. With 15.1 I was able to use my laptop's internal microphone (e.g. on Meet calls), or alternatively my head-set mic when connected via Bluetooth. Neither option is available after the upgrade to Leap 15.2. Under the the Audio System Settings it says: No Recording Devices Available". See screenshot. Is this a known issue? I searched but did not come a cross a solution yet that worked for my case. Best, -Gerhard

External monitor does not wake up (HDMI dead after powersafe)

Hi again, Running Leap 15.2 (5.3.18-lp152.50-default) on an HP ENVY x360 15m-dr0012dx. I have this issue with the external HDMI port that goes dead and does not wake up after long off mode, e.g. through the night. video driver s/w

If have found that certain video clips from YouTube won't play because I don't have the proper software. I don't know what that software may be. I also got a message from a non-YouTube source that says, "This video file cannot be played. (Error Code: 4370637)" I'm running TW, recently upgraded (late November.) Is there some software available that would play these files, which I must assume would play in Windows? --doug

nvme nvme0: frozen state error detected, reset controller

Hi, I have this annoying issue with any of the recent kernels that come with Leap 15.1 and 15.2 that my SSD becomes read-only after a while. I can reproduce the behavior almost 100% of the time pushing the same heavy I/O work load on it. I have one "golden" kernel under which issue _never_ shows up (uptime easily over 45 days and pushing the same work load multiple times a day). This "golden" kernel is: vmlinuz-4.12.14-lp151.28.10-default. Any kernel I have tried since the above during Leap 15.1 updates, and now the latest Leap 15.2 (vmlinuz-5.3.18-lp152.50-default) have the above described issue with the SSD failure and system lockup. The last log that goes to the screen is: pcieport 000:00:1d.4: DPC: unmasked uncorrectable error detected nvme nvme0: frozen state error detected, reset controller I would just stay with the "golden" kernel if it was not for some other issues (HDMI problem) that I have with /it/. The latest 5.3 kernel definitely has the HDMI issue fixed, and I'd love to move on, but cannot due to the SSD issue. The drive is an Intel model number: HBRPEKNX0202AH. It's been years since I last built my own custom kernels, and I was really hoping to not have to do that again. Please let me know if there is any additional information that would be useful to address this issue. Best, -Gerhard

The "problem" is caused by an intentional but forced change, and those links explain why it had to be done. The problem is that there are people whose mail *server or ISP* use signed headers/body (DKIM/DMARC). If the subject is changed to add the [thing], those mails are flagged as "modified" or false, and deleted or rejected by other mail servers. Thus those people can not email to any mail list. It happens, for instance, to people on suse.com, so the heroes team was forced to do the migration to mailman3 much faster than planned, and eliminate the subject [thing]. > Can you describe it in words of one syllable and what is being done > about it? The only thing that could be done is replace the "From" header to send all mail list From "list server" instead. And that is what I think it is being done now. Is anybody else seeing problems with mail from this list recently? In particular some mails are being delivered to me from opensuse but without the [opensuse-support] tag in the subject line. For example the first mail in the 'video driver s/w' thread, but not the second, nor the third from the same author as the first. The complete thread is at: https://lists.opensuse.org/archives/list/support@lists.opensuse.org/thread/… All posts in the 'nvme nvme0: frozen state error detected, reset controller' also suffer from this problem. All the problem emails do have the list 'signature' at the bottom. I reported this problem to admin(a)o.o yesterday but it is still happening.
