TW: alias lasts only for session

Hello, on a fresh TW install I have the issue that a newly defined alias lasts only as long as the (bash) session exists: su - define alias exit su - --> alias is gone I dont see that on an older (and updated) TW system. Anyone else this issue? Cheers Axel

TW with full disk encryption

Hi, I'm setting up a new Laptop with TW, followed the partitioning proposal and used disk encryption. I have updated my OpenSUSE Tumbleweed machine several times this week, including a few minutes ago. Ever since Monday, when I did an update, I can't log into KDE Plasma with X11. I can log into KDE Plasme with Wayland, but it doesn't recognize the monitor properly and sets a resolution lower then the monitor's native resolution and the icons, text and all the windows are fairly big. Machine locks up since Tumbleweed 20250211

Hi, using Tumbleweed 20250211 with KDE and Wayland. The machine is now locking up hard in GUI. Unable to enter TTY1 after locking about half the time also. With so many errors in journal prior/always, this appears new: kwin_wayland_wrapper[2103]: Key repeat discarded, Wayland compositor doesn't seem to be processing events fast enough! How to proceed with this if possible? -Thanks🙂

KDE Plasma asks for the root password when org.kde.kded.smart.smartctl wants to read the results of smart check on disks. Is there a specific security reason why this requires root rights even in "easy settings" in PAM? In what way would it be possible for a user to abuse this?
