yast, NetworkManager, and a static IP

Hi, all -- I just tripped over a problem with NFS serving on my rebuilt diskfarm, and that led me to some poking and test reboots which revealed that the static IP I thought I had isn't being set. When I fire up YaST, it tells me | Warning | | Network is currently handled by NetworkManager | | or completely disabled. YaST is unable to configure some options. | | | | [OK] | and can't help me. Bummer :-( Sooooo ... How do I configure under NetworkManager and make this thing stick with a static IP? I thought that the ol' diskfarm:/etc/sysconfig/network # cat ifcfg-eth0 NAME='diskfarm' BOOTPROTO='static' STARTMODE='auto' ZONE='' IPADDR='192.168.42.247/24' would work, but it doesn't seem to. I even updated my DNS servers diskfarm:/etc/sysconfig/network # egrep DNS_STATIC_SERVERS config NETCONFIG_DNS_STATIC_SERVERS="192.168.42.1 8.8.8.8" while I was in there since my home gateway and my Comcast service often gets stupid, and I do see the new entry Network Settings +Global Options--Overview--Hostname/DNS--Routing-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Static Hostname | |diskfarm | |Set Hostname via DHCP no ? | | | |Modify DNS Configuration Custom Policy Rule | |Use Default Policy ? ? | |+Name Servers and Domain Search List-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+| ||Name Server 1 +Domain Search----------------------------------------------+ || ||192.168.42.1 |justpickone.net | || ||Name Server 2 |hosts.justpickone.net | || ||8.8.8.8 |justpickone.org | || ||Name Server 3 | | || || +-----------------------------------------------------------+ || |+----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+| on the Hostname/DNS page, but it sure ain't obeying the static directive. I would just try changing the service under Global Options, except that 1) I wonder why the system would config something that it can't manage and 2) I also think that I've had problems switching before. Best to get the proper procedure and do it right :-) Once I have the IP straightened out and don't have to keep manually fixing the route and so on then I can get back to NFS services and figure out why that's broken ... if it still is. xdotool doesn't show the correct titles of firefox windows any longer

Hi *, starting with openSUSE Tumbleweed 20221113 xdotool doesn't show the correct titles of firefox any longer, instead returns "Firefox" or an empty string. This worked as expected until I installed this snapshot yesterday. xdotool search --classname firefox 45088769 45088831 45088954 $ xdotool getwindowname 45088769 Firefox $ xdotool getwindowname 45088831 $ xdotool getwindowname 45088954 Firefox Worked until recent update: /usr/bin/xdotool search --sync --name '(VDR Portal)' where "VDR Portal" is the title of a Firefox window. It returned "VDR Portal - Mozilla Firefox". The list returned by for w in $( xdotool search -class firefox ); do xdotool getwindowname $w; done shows all of the windows, that search didn't find: Firefox VDR Portal — Mozilla Firefox ... So it seems, that only xdotool search doesn't work any longer. Any idea, what might have changed here during this update? Neither xdotool nor Firefox have been updated with it. TIA. Bye. Michael.

Bleutooth device not recognized as audio device - TW

Hi, In tumbleweed, it used to be the case that my blutooth headset was recognized as an audio device, and audio was sent to it once the device was activated. Since a few snapshots (I don't know which one, because I use the device not frequently enough) the device is seen as a blutooth device, connected and trusted, but not anymore as an audio device. I can't add it in Yast, too. What has changed lately here, and what can I do to overcome this? regards, Jogchum
