[opensuse-support] Leap-15.2 resolution drops on upgrade

Last night I upgraded, using the nvidia driver but resolution dropped to 1440 or some other horror like that from 1920x1200. I did a forced reinstall of the driver but to no avail. There's been a recommended update for Leap 15.1 showing for the last few days when I run YaST Online Update: openSUSE-2020-1223 In the Patch Description, it reads: > This update for shim-leap fixes the following issues: > - Update shim to 15+git47-lp152.4.3.1 from openSUSE Leap 15.2 > References: I don't pretend to have anything like the tech knowledge necessary to fully evaluate the technical implications or overall worth of most updates, but I do try to apply just a minimal due diligence and cast my eye over the descriptions before just accepting any update. In this case, there's no references. A web search for openSUSE-2020-1223 brings up nothing. I've scoured pages of search results and don't see anything related. What's more, this updates the package 14-lp151 to 15+git47-lp151. It just seems a bit off to push through an update from a 'stable' version to a git version for a later distro, without further explanation. [opensuse-support] KOrganizer: Meeting requests off by one hour

Hi *, I already filed a bug report, but I wanted to ask, if I am the only one facing this problem: Not exactly sure, when this started, but in the last few days I observed, that meeting requests are off by one day, when sent from KOrganizer/Kontact. This does not happen for example with Evolution. To reproduce: Schedule a meeting for today with some attendees, look at the mail that was sent, you'll find a "corrected" date to yesterday. The meeting request arrives in the attendees' mailboxes with this "corrected" date. I was in serious trouble, because all my vacation requests to my company had the wrong date 8-( Thx andy bye. [opensuse-support] Multi-head Windows guest under KVM/Qemu

Hi all, With the recent breakage of VirtualBox on kernel 5.8.0, I successfully migrated my Windows 10 VM to KVM/Qemu. Performance (especially startup performance) is great - much better than under VirtualBox - and everything seems to work, except for one thing. Under VirtualBox, multiple "monitors" for the guest "just worked", as long as the Vbox Guest Additions were kept up-to-date. Under KVM/Qemu, I cannot get multiple monitor support to work. Windows 10 can allegedly see the second monitor (at least, it shows up in Display Settings), but I can never get it to enable. I have 2x QXL video devices defined for the VM, as per all the instructions I've found on the web. Has anyone successfully gotten this to work? Hi-- I lost vmlinuz's for kernels in /usr/src/ so I can't boot the previous 5.7.11 kernel hence no VMware. Can I create the files necessary to boot the /usr/src/linux-5.7.11-1? [opensuse-support] FreeOffice 2018 Textmaker superscripting suppression

I had previously asked for assistance in suppressing superscripting in FreeOffice 2018 Textmaker, and got no reply. Probably because free software comes with no assistance. So after much searching and futzing around, I found out how to do it: With a document open, go to Tools>Options>Edit. There are a bunch of check-boxes, one says "Superscript ordinal numbers" --uncheck that box and then click OK. That seems to have done it for all documents. To be on the safe side, you may save the opened document, but I don't think that's necessary. If you find any gotcha in this procedure--something I forgot or left out--please write a line or two here and correct me. [opensuse-support] Is there any official(!) recommendation about the way to downgrade from e.g. 15.2 to 15.1?

15.2 is not working for me, in order to have my working system back it is unfortunately necessary to downgrade to 15.1. In all these years that never happened to me, but for everything there is a first time. I would like to avoid a reinstall. With zypper dup --allow-vendor-change and setting all repos to 15.1, is there anybody able to confirm this would work? What quirks to expect? Thank you. P.S. I do have EXT4 on all disks, do not use BTRFS. [opensuse-support] After zypper dup my Tumbleweed system does not see the keyboard anymore

Om my Acer laptop, a few days ago, I did a "zypper dup" after which the system does not see the keyboard anymore. It does not react on any key pressed. So it is unusable. Today, via ssh, I did again a "zypper dup", but I still have the same problem. The touchpad or the mouse are still working. So I can login using the virtual keyboard, but that is hardly usable.
