compiling tpctl kernel modules in SuSE 10.0

Hi all, does anyone know how to compile the tpctl kernel modules after compiling a new kernel? I installed package km_tpctl. In the description of this package I read: "You need this package to recreate the tpctl kernel modules after a new kernel compilation. Change the directory to /usr/src/kernel-modules/tpctl/ and call "make -f Makefile.module all/install" I did this exactly as written. But this is what happens: ---- thinkpad:/usr/src/kernel-modules/tpctl # make -f Makefile.module all/install make: Makefile.module: No such file or directory make: *** No rule to make target `Makefile.module'. Stop. ---- There is only a Makefile (not Makefile.module) in the /usr/src/kernel-modules/tpctl directory. When I try to call make without -f Makefile.module there are errors, too: ---- thinkpad:/usr/src/kernel-modules/tpctl # make make -C modules_add SUBDIRS=/usr/src/kernel-modules/tpctl make: *** modules_add: No such file or directory. Stop. make: *** [modules_add] Error 2 ---- What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Christoph

UMTS Handy

Hallo, ich habe vor mir ein neues Handy zuzulegen. Kann ich ein UMTS-Handy (Nokia N70 mit Symbian OS) als UMSTS-Modem für mein Notebook über Bluetooth nutzen? Alternativ überlege ich über ein Nokia 9300 oder 9500 Communicator, lässt sich der als GPRS-Modem nutzen? Kann dieser IPSec? Die 3. Möglcihkeit wäre ein MDA compact oder MDA III. Sind diese als GPRS-Modem nutzbar? Könnnen diese IPSec? Ich hoffe jemand hier in der Liste nutzt vielleicht schon solch eine Lösung. -- mfg Orlando

Thinkpad R50e: Probleme mit OSS 10.0 und WLAN nach Suspend-to-disk

Hi! Mit SuSE-9.3 funktionierte das Wiederaufwecken meines Thinkpads (Centrino-Chipsatz mit ipw2200) nach Suspend-to-disk inklusive der WLAN-Verbindungen immer 100%ig. Mit 10.0 geht das leider nicht mehr, der Rechner startet zwar wieder, aber WLAN ist dann immer tot und ich bekomme es auch nicht mehr zum Laufen. Ein kompletter Neustart ist dann nötig, denn alles andere hilft nicht. Weiß jemand, was SuSE da geändert (versemmelt) hat? Und wie kann man das in Ordnung bringen (ohne gleich ein Downgrade zu machen)? (Ich habe auch schon nach einer Empfehlung in der normalen Liste die aktuellen ieee80211 und ipw2200-Treiber inklusive patches installiert, aber das Verhalten ist leider keinen Deut besser geworden). Bin jetzt kurz davor, wieder alles plattzumachen, 9.3 aus dem Netz zu saugen und neu zu installieren... Jörg@home -- Bill Gates stört im Auftrag von Aliens den technologischen Fortschritt

Bluetooth auf einem Thinkpad R51

Hallo zusammen, ich habe soeben SuSE10 auf einem Thinkpad R51 (1829) installiert. Leider funktioniert jedoch Bluetooth nicht. Sobald ich den kbluetoothd starten möchte, erhalte ich die Fehlermeldung "DCOP error when calling services()". Außerdem kann ich nicht via Fn-F5 den Bluetooth Adapter aktivieren. Die gleichen Probleme hatte ich auch schon mit SuSE 9.3 Pro. Vielen Dank für das Feedback. Hallo, ich habe seit wenigen Tagen ein Notebook "Thinkpad X21" auf dem ich die neue Suse 10 installiert habe. Installiert wurde die KDE-Standard" selektion, wobei die thinkpad-spezifischen Programme automatisch mitinstalliert wurden. Weitergehend wurde bisher noch nichts installiert bzw konfiguriert. Nun möchte ich für den Akku-betrieb die auf dem Rechner laufenden Dienste minimieren, so dass sich die Festplatte abschalten kann. Gerade ein Dienst/daemon scheint minütlich zu laufen, so dass er die abgeschaltete Festplatte immer wieder neu startet. Über "top" habe ich es leider nicht rausbekommen, welcher das ist. Hat jemand einen Tipp für mich? Vielen Dank im Voraus. Stefan

ndiswrapper hangs on laptop running on battery

I need some advice on getting my laptop wlan running on battery power. I have a Dell D810 running SUSE 9.3. I am using ndiswrapper to get my wlan up and running. This works very well, but if I try to boot on battery power it just hangs when the ndsiwrapper kernel module is loaded. The ndiswrapper logs looks perfectly OK (== identical to what it logs when running on AC power), it just seems to never complete. I tried upgrading ndiswrapper to 1.4 (the version supplied with SuSE 9.3 was 1.1, but this made no difference. Moin Günther, ich hatte auch ein Problem mit ipw2200-WEP unter SuSE 10 (ging aber mit SuSE 9.2). Bei mir lag es daran, daß YaST die ifcfg Datei nicht richtig schreibt. Schau mal hier rein für die Lösung: Quelle: lists.opensuse.org -> opensuse -> Oktober 2005 -> "Re: [opensuse] Wireless Problem in 10.0" von Guðlaugur Jóhannesson. Ich habe auch die Zeile "PREFER_WPA_SUPPLICANT='no'" in die ifcfg Datei eingetragen. Disable menu key in Gnome

That menu key is sitting between the right "Alt" and "Ctrl" key and pops up the window's context menu. Unfortunately this never happens intentionally. Is there any easy way to turn the key completely off? I currently assign a shortcut for the menu key to mute the speaker because that is slightly less annoying than the context menu. But what I am looking for is a possibility to create a short cut to a real noop. Any ideas? PC-card wifi Asus WL-107g + SuSE 9.3 + laptop nx6110 : some problems

Hello all I am trying to use on this laptop HP-Compaq (nx6110) a PC card Asus WL107g under SuSE 9.3. On this laptop there is WinXP too and this PC card works fine under this OS. When I say "it works fine", this means that a wifi network in my building is well detected by the Asus software dedicated to this PC card : green led (lnk) OK and orange led (ACT) OK. Under SuSE 9.3, the main problem is to detect (with kwifimanager) this network : it is detected but .... about for 1 boot on 20 boots of the OS. For each boot, the PC card (based on Ralink chipset rt2500) is well recognized (device ra0, green led OK) and the module rt2500 is well loaded. But the orange led is out ... except when network is detected. When I type "/sbin/cardctl info", I often see nothing in PRODID_1, PRODID_2, .... And this leads me to tell that there is perharps a link between "nothing with cardctl info" and orange led out. Is there really a problem with PCMCIA of SuSE 9.3 ? A problem of driver/module ? Is an entry for this card required in /etc/pcmcia/config ? Do I have to modify the /etc/pcmcia/config.opts, for example memory ranges or port ranges ? Or perharps I don't understand very well the behaviour of wifi PC cards :-) .... I can see files named wireless and wireless.opts in /etc/pcmcia/ directory ? To be modified ?
