compaq e500: grafik-karte

liebe liste! ich verwende ein compaq armada e500 notebook und versuche suse 6.4 und windows 2000 darauf zu installieren. linux laeuft alleine perfekt soweit ich das als anfaenger beurteilen kann. danach habe ich win2000 installiert das dann einwand frei arbeitet. starte ich dann allerdings mit hilfe einer bootdiskette linux (da der windows boot manager lilo ueberschrieben hat), dann flimmert der bildschirm unter x (auch wenn ich den computer dazwischen ab- und anschalte). haengt das mit den unterschiedlichen einstellungen der geraete ab (grafik-karten und monitor)? ich habe unter linux folgende typen ausgewaehlt, da die eigentlichen gerate unter sax nicht zur auswahl standen ... card - matrox mystique 220 monitor - lcd 1024x768 xga@60hz meine frage daher: welchen driver soll man am besten fuer ein compaq armada e500 notebook verwenden (win 2000 angaben siehe am ende des mails)? wo finde ich diese? wie kann ich dann die neuen typen ueber sax installieren? vorerst waere mir am wichtigsten die richtigen driver fuer die grafik-karte sowie den bildschirm zu finden. natuerlich sind tips bezueglich der restlichen driver auch mehr als willkommen; falls jemand schon mit linux und dem compaq e500 gearbeitet hat (zB fuer die soundkarte). benedikt. angaben von windows 2000 zu den einzelnen geraeten compaq armada e500 display adapter ati technologies inc. rage pim mobility agp 2x chip type: ati rage mobility p/m agp 2x (a21/2) monitor digital flat panel (1024/768) 60Hz refresh rate sound, video, game controller ess maestro 2e pci audio driver (wdm)

APM auf Toshiba 2210CDT

Hallo zusammen, ich habe ein Problem mit APM auf einem Toshiba Satellite 2210CDT (ansonsten prima Teil, siehe www.eckhard-rueggeberg.de/Toshiba.html ). kapm funktionierte auf einem Toshiba Satellite 2100CDS ganz wunderbar: Suspend suspendierte, Standby schickte in standby-Modus, ganz wunderbar. Dann mußte ich ihn wegen hardwareproblemen umtauschen in seinen Nachfolger, den 2210, und da funktioniert kapm überhaupt nicht! D.H. Standby schickt ihn zwar in standby-Modus, aber er wacht nach ein paar Sekunden von alleine auf, und nach einem Suspend bekomme ich ihn nicht wieder geweckt. Hallo Liste, ich versuche seit den letzten Tagen das interne Modem in meinem Toshiba Laptop Satellite 2180CDT zu benutzen leider stuertzt nach der Einwahl beim Provider der pppd ab. Ich habe dazu das Modul ltmodem.o von www.linmodems.org heruntergeladen und nach den Anweisungen installiert. Ich benutze Suse 6.4. Hat schon jemand ein internes Modem mit Lucent Chipsatz zum laufen bekommen ohne dass der pppd abstuerzt Klaus

hi leute wir haben nette neue spielzeuge in der edv bekommen :)). tolle laptops (toshiba tecra 8100) leider mit NT / 2000 vorinstalliert :-(. na ja das muss ja nicht so sein ;-) ... leider haben wir probleme einen xserver fuer die S3 savage /mx grafikkarte unter suse 6.4 ins laufen zu bekommen! eigentlich sollte die mit dem svga server ver 6.3.3 laufen :-(=) ... eigentlich der server stuerzt halt beim starten immer ab. hat evt jemand erfahrtung mit der graphikkarte/dem laptop tanx in advance dirk

Hi! Ich habe ein IPC Topnote G auf dem SuSE Linux 6.4 läuft. Bis vor ein paar Tagen... Nach einem BIOS-Update findet Linux meine seriellen und parallelen Schnittstellen nicht mehr. Wenn ich mit setserial die Parameter von Hand eingebe, kann ich am (seriellen) Modem erkennen, daß etwas über den seriellen Port rausgeht (echo atz >/dev/modem). Allerdings scheint es keine Rückmeldung vom Modem zu geben. Der Kernel findet beim Booten weder die seriellen noch die parallelen Ports. Da ich beim alten BIOS einen Schalter "Betriebssystem" hatte (Win95, Win98/2000,Other) und Linux (damals) die Schnittstellen auch erst nach Auswahl von "Other" erkannte, gehe ich davon aus, daß es nun Streß mit Plug-n-Play gibt. Egal was ich bei dem dubiosen Schalter auswähle, ich bekomme die Schnittstellen nicht mehr zu sehen. Auch ein vorheriger Start von M$ zur Initialisierung der Hardware und Starten von Linux mittels Loadlin führte nicht zum Erfolg. Hat jemand eine Idee, wie das Problem zu lösen ist? Thomas p.s.: Nein, ein Zurückspielen des alten BIOS funktioniert nicht, da Archtec (der Hersteller des Notebooks) ein Update zur Verfügung gestellt hat, welches keine Interaktion mit dem Benutzer erlaubte und auch keinen Gebrauch von der Backup-Möglichkeit machte. I installed SuSe6.3 on a Toshiba Satellite 420. Since I have no e-mail and internet acces at home I bought a pcmcia card from 3com 65K Modem 3056. It seem that this is regognized and according to some hardware lists it should be supported With the help of Christian and the PCMCIA-HOWTO I mangaged to adress the Card correctly. However it is impossible for me to activate the modem to get access to the net. This is a problem because I'm cut of from the help of the internet. anyway I cannot activate the modem which seems to be either busy or not there ! So what could be wrong ? Hallo I've got problems which I cannot solve with the internal information. I installed SuSe6.3 on a Toshiba Satellite 420. Since I have no e-mail and internet acces at home I bought a pcmcia card from 3com 65K Modem 3056. It seem that this is regognized and according to some hardware lists it should be supported - what bothers me is that during boot up it tells me "cardmgr[110]: unsupported card in socket 0" which might be the empty slot because according to the product info the card is regonized correctly. anyway I cannot activate the modem which seems to be either busy or not there !
