[opensuse-gnome] Timezone and printer settings too restrictive by default

Hi there, Linus vocally complained about this today at https://plus.google.com/u/0/102150693225130002912/posts/1vyfmNCYpi5 and I verified that running GNOME on openSUSE 12.1, all updates applied, I do need to provide the root password to change the timezone or add a printer. That is a major usability issue for personas "Daniela" and "significant other", which means it has real life impact on both Linus and myself. :-) Surprisingly enough, I did not find existing Bugzilla entries, but perhaps those were (incorrectly) closed earlier and I missed them therefore? In any case, I filed https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=749451 Adding a new printer via system-config-printer requires root password https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=749453 Changing the timezone via world clock requires root password Any chance we can get these two resolved quickly? Thanks! [opensuse-gnome] Deleting auto wifi connections

Where do I go to look at the list of known wifi networks in network manager? I accidentally clicked on a wrong wifi network some time ago and now when my sometimes-glitchy wifi router briefly goes out, network manager keeps wanting to toggle on to the next auto-connect available network. Which of course then pops up the annoying admin-password request window. There's got to be some way to delete these unused auto-connects. I used to be able to do it in previous versions of openSUSE. [opensuse-gnome] Boot failure

I know this isn't GNOME-specific, but I'm hoping someone can direct me to some instructions for how to recover. After the latest 12.2 upgrade, a number of boot scripts give errors (02-start.sh, 03-storage.sh, 05-kms.sh, 06-blogd.sh among others). I get: mount: mount point /dev/pts does not exist, and Trying manual resume from /dev/disk/by-id/ata-HITACHI_HTS543225A7A3B4_E2024242HBPPJD-part5 (I have a snapshot of the screen if there's someplace to upload it.) [opensuse-gnome] Going underground, my packages are still maintained

Hi all, For quite sometime I've been erasing information about me in several resources, the request to terminate my membership has been heard and I'm no longer a member (a nice protest form against the anti-democratic ego driven concepts of a few). Pascal also kindly removed my blog feeds from the planet by my request. I've un-subscribed all mailing lists except: - opensuse-factory; - opensuse-gnome; All my packages/OBS repos are still going to be maintained, but a huge cleanup is going to happen soon (during the weekend). On the other hand, during the last weeks I've been aqquiring a lot of know-how on Fedora packaging and about Koji, which I now know very well. This to say that soon there will be an increase on contributions from me on Fedora side, mainly for EPEL (Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux), I do have no intention on maintaining Fedora packages besides EPEL. I will also keep some time for giving some love to GNOME:Cinnamon and will later pick up my work on GNOME:Ayatana. So in other words, my demise in openSUSE is 99% complete and people won't have to read/ignore more stupid emails from me, no more nagging, no more nothing. Hopefully I'll see better days in the future... [opensuse-gnome] NVIDIA observation

My old-ish ThinkPad has an nVidia (173 series) GeForce FX Go5200 card and never looked better than when I booted the Official GNOME 3 Live DVD System (so good that I soon installed it). Since I use that machine for testing, over the course of the past six months I've also installed Debian's, Fedora's and Mageia's GNOME 3 desktops which all run the nouveau driver, and all give me a multi-coloured, striped top bar and messed-up desktop fonts. Just to make sure I wasn't imagining the perfection of the original Live DVD, I re-installed it this week (and I was right, it's perfect). What did openSUSE get right ten months ago that still isn't right elsewhere? Is it safe to upgrade from GNOME 3.0? (I have GNOME Factory installed on my production laptop which has Radeon graphics, and on my production desktop which has a much newer nVidia card -- btw on the latter I don't get a GDM login screen on startup, just Console 1). Hi, I have a problem with running zypper dup on my openSUSE 12.1 GNOME install. [opensuse-gnome] A11y: Request for Dots packaging

Some folks on a11y IRC channel pointed out that Dots doesn't exist on openSUSE as a package and would like to see it packaged so they can use openSUSE. :-) If anyone can take the lead on packaging this, would be great. git://git.gnome.org/dots and and http://code.google.com/p/liblouisxml/ Note: While we have liblouis2 in our repository, it is an Orca dependency. The liblouisxml is a dependency for Dots. Dots is braille translation software for documents used by braille printers. So quite useful, important to our visually-impaired users. And I think this should be part of the general GNOME pattern installation along with the other a11y tools (e.g. Orca) that we provide. Thanks! Nautilus hasn't worked for me for a few days, missing libtracker-data.so.0. Zypper recommended switching (downgrading) 170-odd packages to Regular Factory to fix it. [opensuse-gnome] Cinnamon dependencies on GNOME3

Hi all, In the past I had a 'Requires: gnome-shell' on Cinnamon which I removed because whenever cinnamon was a build dependency it pulled a whole lot of things not needed because of that dependency. Since Cinnamon requires the GNOME3 pattern installed, what would be the best way to enforce that Cinnamon could only be installed if GNOME3 is installed (or at least pull it when installing Cinnamon)?
