[opensuse-gnome] New/removed GNOME-related packages, issue #3 (11.4 Milestone 2)

Hi, This is the list of GNOME-related packages that got added since the last issue, ie August 26th. The packages that are in Factory as of this issue will be in Milestone 2! Woohoo! We didn't get any removal this time. I must admit I lost track of who did what, but many of those packages are in thanks to Atri, Dominique, and Luis! [opensuse-gnome] Removing a few apps from the default install

Hi, I was looking at the default install of GNOME in Milestone 1, and came up with a list of things that, I think, we should not install by default. Comments welcome! - multisync-gui: the UI is just horrible. I can't belive we ship a tool like this by default. - deskbar-applet: we ship gnome-do by default, so no real need to ship deskbar too. - gftp: most people don't need to use ftp. Then a good part of people who need to use ftp are happy with nautilus. I'd argue that it's not really needed. - ekiga: the people who use SIP will know about it and will install it. The other people (majority) just don't care. Note that it's quite big on the livecd (since libpt and opal are big). (I'm not 100% sure on this one) - xchat: we ship empathy with irc support by default. [opensuse-gnome] Teatime applet?

One of the niceties in KDE I had really grown fond of over the years is a small applet called kteatime. Looking what GNOME offers in this space, I did not find anything in what we ship, alas I found http://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php/Teatime . Did I simply miss something (an alternative, perhaps) in our packaging of GNOME for openSUSE? I also did look at the openSUSE Build Service and only found kteatime which makes me think I might have missed something already offered by vanilla GNOME. If not, is there any chance to get Teatime included somehow? I think my last email didn't hit the list, so I'll try send it again (with some extra info). Sorry for the duplicate if there is one: Hey, sorry, I completely forgot to include the commandline, here it is: valgrind --tool=memcheck -v --leak-check=full --log-file=log --smc-check=all /usr/lib64/firefox/firefox I did a clean install today and had it working with firefox 3.6.6 (or whatever was default in OS 11.3). I then allowed zypper to update everything and I got the error in my last email on both firefox 3.6.6 and 3.6.10 when I attached valgrind. This error happened on startup so I didn't even get as far as a firefox window opening. Alan. Hey, OS 11.3 stock can valgrind firefox without any issues but once I installed all available updates I can no longer run valgrind on firefox, I just get the error at the end of this email. Does anyone know what package update caused this issue? I really don't want to have to reinstall *again* to fix this. Hi, I've changed the way libsoup works at the request of the security team. This change will hit GNOME:Factory today, and Factory some time this week, I guess. This does not change 11.1, 11.2 nor 11.3. A recent change in upstream libsoup made it use only SSL 3.0 for https, because of bugs on various servers, which were causing issues when libsoup was trying to use TLS. However, the security team wanted to keep TLS if possible, so we patch this behavior. Note that upstream wants to fix this correctly in the long term, but it requires rewriting quite some code (while our patch is just a one-line patch). As a result, libsoup users *might* have issues on some https websites. If this happens, this will be most visible in webkitgtk, and therefore in epiphany. If you hit such an issue, please file a bug and cc me. With twitters switch off of basic authentication, an update is needed...
