[opensuse-gnome] mozilla-bonobo plugin

Hi, while I was checking what would be needed to build the mozilla bonobo plugin with gecko 1.9.1 I was wondering if that plugin is still useful at all? I see no real activity on the homepage and I just would like to know if it's worth the effort to patch it so it builds again. Are there any users (human or software) which use bonobo plugin to show content in Firefox? Otherwise we probably will drop it for 11.2? [opensuse-gnome] Ugly openoffice menus with sonar theme

Hi! In openSUSE 11.2 M4, the sonar theme is being used. While I like the theme a lot, I was wondering if it were okay to file bugs against the theme in bugzilla already. [opensuse-gnome] designing new default application selection (gnome_defaults.conf, defaults.list)

Hallo. We have a long time opened problem with association of default applications: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=456026 Also Moblin session would need different defaults than GNOME session. Easiest way seems to be adding this heuristic to the desktop-file-utils, which processes desktop files anyway, and allow defaults.list with (XDG) desktop prefix. Now I am thinking about the configuration file that should replace /etc/gnome_defaults.conf. It should be parseable as g_key_file (.ini file). Using experiences from the old syntax, two levels of preference seems to be required. It is possible to make more levels of preference, but I am not sure, whether it makes sense (to say: Use goodplayer.desktop. If betterplayer.desktop supports this MIME type, prefer it, but if bestplayer.desktop supports this MIME type, use it). Reversely, it is possible to live completely without two levels of preference, just with inheritance. Probably more files should be supported to allow separate e. g. gnome-defaults.conf and moblin-defaults.conf. Here is my idea. Any opinions? [Desktop Defaults] # ... maybe something will be here as well [GNOME] # These applications should be default for all MIME types they support. Default=eog.desktop;evince.desktop;gedit.desktop;file-roller.desktop;nautilus-folder-handler.desktop;MozillaFirefox.desktop # This application is preferred over Default applications for all MIME types they support. [opensuse-gnome] Splitting G:F in G:F and G:A (feedback needed, especially from 11.1 users)

Hey, I'll probably split GNOME:Factory into GNOME:Factory and GNOME:Apps. The reason is that G:F is way too big now, and so it makes a lot of things more complex than they should be. What will go in GNOME:Apps are applications that don't specifically follow the GNOME development cycle. For Factory, it should be enough to build GNOME:Apps against openSUSE:Factory -- in theory, there shouldn't be any strict/tight dependency on bleeding-edge stuff. For 11.1 users, however, we might need to do something weird: we'll probably want to support GNOME:Apps for users of oS:11.1, G:S:2.26 and G:F. For now, I'm thinking of only enabling it for 11.1 users of G:F because: + G:S:2.26 already contains part of what would live in GNOME:Apps, so we'd want to remove part of G:S:2.26 too, which might not be a good idea. + users of a stock 11.1 might not care too much for now. So this would mainly affect 11.1 users of G:F. Proposals on how to handle in better way are welcome. Note that we can't just enable GNOME:Apps builds against oS:11.1, G:S:2.26 and G:F because if, say, pidgin 2.9 doesn't compile against oS:11.1, then we'll have no way to control what pidgin we distribute for oS:11.1 users (it will only be the last successfully built package, while we might want to do some updates there).
