Good Evening everybody,
is there any documentation available on how to use tar_scm to build
the HEAD of a git repository on obs?
I find lots of old stuff, lots of mixtures between using packages on
the opensuse build server or on a private one. But none of the answer
the first couple of questions I have:
I was able to create a _service file, and it seems to get the sources
and create a tar. I even get it to compress it, but is this step
deprecated? Or not?
What other options exist for the service file? I can set a
versionprefix, but what else is there?
Im sure there will be some more question soon, so I would appreciate
if anyone knows a up-to-date tutorial or wiki or similar. I'd like to
rtfm... ;-)
Regards,
Johannes

Hi,
I run local OBS instance. I have a rpm-md repository for a project, and
I would like to keep 2 last built versions of rpm: the latest and the
previous one. Is it possible? What configuration should I use in prjconf?
As far as I understand :Updates projects use maintenance updates for
this, so every rpm version has its own package in obs: name.XXXX
Should I better use this approach?

Hello,
I added support for a new board to armv7l architecture. For that I added
it to uboot:
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:frank_kunz:branches:Base:Syste…
and to JeOS:
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:frank_kunz:branches:openSUSE:F…
which depends on the uboot build. I can successfully build the uboot
local, but it is not (yet) building in obs due to the heavy loaded
armv7l build hosts. When I want to build the JeOS local it fails with:
...
buildinfo is broken... it says:
unresolvable: nothing provides u-boot-a20-olinuxino-lime2
which is, I guess, because the obs build is not yet done. Is there a
possibility to run the JeOS build local with my local uboot build result?
I tried already to copy the uboot rpm to my packagecachedir, but it
still fails.

Hi list!
I'm currently setting up a private OBS instance. I've installed the
appliance and I've gotten everything working so far, except for two things:
1. The workers cannot resolve hostnames
If I try to build a package with remote sources (I've used logrotate as a
test), I get an error when the worker is trying to retrieve the sources:
[ 45s] ==> Retrieving sources...
[ 45s] -> Downloading logrotate-3.8.8.tar.gz...
[ 45s] % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current
[ 45s] Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed
[ 45s] Warning: Transient problem: timeout Will retry in 3 seconds. 3 retries left.
[ 48s] Warning: Transient problem: timeout Will retry in 3 seconds. 2 retries left.
[ 51s] Warning: Transient problem: timeout Will retry in 3 seconds. 1 retries left.
[ 54s] curl: (6) Could not resolve host: fedorahosted.org
[ 54s] ==> ERROR: Failure while downloading logrotate-3.8.8.tar.gz
The "Could not resolve host" message pointed to a DNS problem, which I can
confirm, because when I put the source on a website I can access by IP, the
build completes.
2. The link on the "Binaries" page of a package points to localhost.
The title of that page is "Detailed Information About <package.rpm>", where
package.rpm is a link to
https://localhost/build/<project>/<repo>/<arch>/<package>/<package.rpm>
I would expect the host part to contain the hostname of the obs appliance.
I've seen that BSConfig.pm defaults to localhost if it cannot get the fqdn,
but that's as far as I got.
Since these are both DNS-related, I though I'd ask them together. If anyone
has either a solution, or tips where to look, I'd be very grateful.
Some background info: The appliance gets and IP address via dhcp, and DNS
seems to be working:
obs:~ # hostname
obs
obs:~ # hostname -f
obs.bokxing.intern
obs:~ # host obs.bokxing.intern
obs.bokxing.intern has address 192.168.2.84
obs:~ # host 192.168.2.84
84.2.168.192.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer obs.bokxing.intern.
We do use ipv4, but not ipv6. I don't know if that matters.
Thanks, Roel

Hi again!
It seems like I have at least one mistake in my debian build instructions, I get the following error on debian builds:
"parsechangelog/debian: error: Can't call method "as_string" on an undefined value at /usr/share/perl5/Dpkg/Changelog.pm line 250, <STDIN> line 11."
This is my directory: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:tol_qosmotec/helloWorld
Nevertheless the next step would be to use open build service locally.
What I don’t understand:
I only found information how to do the build process locally, but it seems that I still need to upload my files to the openSuse Servers.
Is that correct? Or is it possible to work fully offline without communicating with any servers?
Thank you again for your help so far,
tol
I try to build a project at my local machine (openSUSE_13.2) with "osc build" and get
"Error: Package obs-service-extract_file is required for this operation"
Did i forgot to install a package? Which one?
BTW: The build at the osc server works well.
