Open Build Service(OBS) 2.3.4 just got released =============================================== This is a bugfix release in first place. But also the distribuition default target list has been updated. This release is most important for cross build support. Building against openSUSE 12.2 and Factory for ARM architecture works now out-of-the-box. It seems the OBS Security key (keyid 79EAFD54) on keys.gnupg.net has expired (2011-Apr-2). Would it be possible for someone to update it? Sometimes you have appA in your repo building for both old and new openSUSE versions. appA depends on libA > X, but only the latest openSUSE version provides it. openSUSE <latest-1> came with libA <X-1>. The solution is to package libA > X for the old distributions and usually you do that linking to the devel project. I would like an openSUSE:Current project that would always contains the latest supported version of the packages. Right now the packages from openSUSE:12.1:Update, but once 12.2 is released it should be changed to openSUSE:12.2:Update. This way I could link to those packages instead of linking to the devel project. It would let me compile appA in old distros while giving to the users a libA package that is not soooooo unsupported (this would be officially unsupported anyway, but...). I would like this since it's a single place to change when a new openSUSE version is released (If needed I can do it). [opensuse-buildservice] Problem building Perl packages for SLES11SP2 with certain build requirements

Hello everyone, I have a question/problem with Perl packages and BuildRequires when building for SLES(SP2). The problem comes up with multiple packages when trying to build them for SLES, let's look at perl-HTTP-BrowserDetect from devel:languages:perl for example. The spec files includes: --- BuildRequires: perl(Module::Build) >= 0.3601 --- and the build log clearly states (see https://build.opensuse.org/package/rawlog?arch=x86_64&package=perl-HTTP-Bro…) that it is being installed: --- installing perl-Module-Build-0.36.07-4.1 --- but still, the build fails with: --- Module::Build version 0.3601 required--this is only version 0.280801 at Build.PL line 5. --- As far as I understand, "Module::Build" v0.280801 is already installed by default under SLES11SP2 and the newer required version 0.3607 is not found OR the older version is found first by the script "Build.pl". A second example would be "perl-POE-Test-Loops" which requires a version of Test::More/Test::Simple >=0.94, but this is not found although installed (i.e. only an older version is found), see log here: https://build.opensuse.org/package/live_build_log?arch=x86_64&package=perl-… How do I circumvent this problem? Hi all, I have a package that uses the download_files source service to get a file that is listed as Source0 in the spec file. This works fine if Source0 lists the exact filename, but not if Source0 contains a macro. This works with the source service: ... Source0: http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/backports/2012/09/18/compat… ... This doesn't work with the source service: ... Source0: http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/backports/2012/09/18/compat… -d '1 day ago' +%Y-%m-%d).tar.bz2 ... Using a macro in the Source0 filename works ok if there's no source service. So any ideas on how to make it work w/ a source service? Recently, the debian transformer complains about symlinks in archives and thus fails the build. Relative symlinks should not be a problem though as long as they point to a location still inside the archive. [opensuse-buildservice] how to solve "unresolvable: have choice for libhdf5.so.7"

Hi, Sometimes I have such unresolable conflicts and I've never understood what is the right way how to fix them. For example nowadays we have two packages libhdf5-0 and libhdf5-0-openmpi both providing libhdf5.so.7 One of my packages (unsermarkt) requires "uterus" which auto-requires libhdf5.so.7. So when building unsermarkt I get unresolvable: have choice for libhdf5.so.7 needed by uterus: libhdf5-0-openmpi libhdf5-0 I can solve this by adding explicitly BuildRequires: libhdf5-0 but this is bad because this dependency comes indirectly from uterus and might be changed there. I also tried playing with combinations of BuildConflicts: libhdf5-0 libhdf5-0-openmpi but this always results in not having libhdf5-* installed at all BTW where can I find a documentation of the BuildConflicts tag? [opensuse-buildservice] Building a single package to support 2 major versions of a dependency

Hello All, I wasn't sure if this was a build service or packaging issue so I've sent this to both lists. Recently the PostgreSQL package in server:database:postgresql was repackaged to support having both versions 9.1 and 9.2 installed on the same system. This is introducing a problem for PG modules like orafce, pgsql_fdw, and others which when built the resulting libraries were installed in /usr/lib/postgresql. The new packaging lay defines those libdirs as /usr/lib/postgresql91 and /usr/lib/postgresl92. I'm looking for approaches to handle this, hopefully without having lots of duplication. The first approach would be what Debian does, create separate packages for each PG version and rename the packages to postgresql91-orafce and postgresql92-orafce respectively. Another thought is to keep a single package in OBS but setup the spec to create packages for each PG version and name it accordingly postgresql91-orafce and postgresql92-orafce. I don't know if this is possible or how you'd trigger the build but what about having 2 spec's for the package, one that builds for each version? I have in my .osrc: apiurl = https://api.opensuse.org [https://api.opensuse.org] user = saigkill pass = $MyPass trusted_prj=openSUSE:Factory M17N:fonts email = Sascha Manns <saigkill(a)opensuse.org> But it looks like ever, and i don't think that i'm having changed the PW. Login via build.o.o works perfectly. The Connect via the api site also works. But not in my osc Enviireonment. Hi, I may be wrong in interpreting the purpose of the devel project but bare with my logic please. We have devel:languages:lua with only 10 packages and the project is not even a devel project for the lua packages of factory. lua packages are developed in devel:languages:misc and there are many lua packages scattered like a flock in various projects. Hi, our binary backend server is filled for more than 90% atm. While we could increase the storage system there in general, we would still have the problem that we need to sync most of the data also to at least some mirrors. So we need to look a way to avoid too much bloat there. Attached is a list of the largest projects. Please think about if they are really necessary or could be reduced. Please do not understand me wrong, it is of course okay to use the resources when there is a reason. I do not ask to remove projects, just because they are large. However, you may want to check if you really need all the target repositories maybe. You may also want to check the values calculated from the download statistics. They are accessable via osc api /build/_dispatchprios when the adjust number is below 1 it means that the downloads are below average. Hi, the RHEL 6 at build.opensuse.org seems to be a rather stripped down version. Even quite basic packages like libicu-devel seem to be missing (https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=xerces-c&project=Applicatio…) although Red Hat issues updates for them (http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2011-1815.html) which indicates they are part of the official distro. Can anyone explain that? Is there a plan to update RHEL just like CentOS? The new argument for osc build --host will perform the build on a remote host. It is a shortcut for rsync -az -e ssh `pwd` user@hostname:/remote/dir ssh user@hostname "cd /remote/dir/package; osc build *build-args" iow it copy the current directory to the /remote/directory on hostname (if not specified, the ~/ is supplied) and then run the osc build on hostname. All build arguments are supplied to the remote osc build. Hi, Given the large amounts of negative feedback we get when we disable the build repositories of just EOLed openSUSE distributions ... and as 11.4 is targeted to be a Evergreen target again... Hi community, I'm encountering some unaccurate behavior with my private OBS instance that may fall me into trouble with guys from the security team ... I'm running a OBS appliance 2.3 and for unknown reasons, this appliances can emit lot of http request to other OBS server it's linked to... For example I've be warned from the security team for about 16 000 000 requests for August (almost 6 per/second)... But I'm only linked to 2 other OBS (one is MeeGo) Is there any reason for this... Is there some inconsistency in my settings? Does this this behavior is normal (I hope it's not!!!) Hi, I see, Tumbleweed has been adopted to be based on 12.2 images. However, some of the old packages (based on 12.1) have been newer than the current ones - mostly only in the release number, some also in the version, e.g. kernel (3.4.6 vs. 3.5.3) Both (but especially the latter) should not happen imho. Actually, I didn't see any other 'real' downgrades than the kernel but cannot verify that there is none. Could the kernel be upgraded back to 3.5.3 again? I'd create a sr for it but don't know which repo it comes from normally or whether it should be put into openSUSE:Tumbleweed:Testing first... I wonder if it would be an option to disable these packages on arm and get them build on x86_64? This way the arm distro will be build faster. While local build works for most of targets, I have problem with RHEL-5. When I do: $ osc build RHEL_5 x86_64 the build stops after message "now finalizing build dir...". Actually it waits for root password, but there is no prompt. I've added '-x' to the build script and could see that it's caused by 'su' in line 1963 in build. [ 6s] + BUILD_USER_ABUILD_USED=true [ 6s] + test spec = spec [ 6s] ++ chroot /run/media/wojdyr/b/osbuild-root su -c 'rpm --eval '\''%_topdir'\''' - abuild Somehow it's specific to RHEL5. Is there a workaround? In osc I use sudo as su-wrapper, so I don't need root password. Hello, related to the "obs-worker - restarting services in chroot env at build time" mailing we still have some problems to get a more or less "clean" chroot build environment on a dedicated obs-worker machine. Therefore the question: Is there an (scripting) entry point to cleanup the obs-worker chroot build environment after _every_ build of a package even if the build has failed? In our case we have to kill some services like mysql or apache2 to ensure that they aren't running accidently after a (failed) build on the obs-worker. Mi amigo Federico Hernández es una persona “Objetiva” aunque tiene serias dificultades para contemplar su propio discurso ante el espejo, es “Imparcial” aunque milita en un partido que siempre ha manejado un criterio de “conveniencia política”, es “Honrado” aunque tiene reparos por más de $1,000,000.00 USD, en CONCULTURA, cuenta con una “Integridad” envidiable a pesar de desaparecer varios vehículos de la misma institución. Federico sí que es “Inteligente” ya que él se encargó de destapar la “Cloaca” en CONCULTURA y ahora trata de tapar la de la cámara de comercio. Que gran amigo es Federico, “Humilde”. A Federico no solo lo queremos, sino también lo amamos por su honestidad, por ejemplo cuando se llevó a cabo la reunión en un reconocido bar de la Zona Rosa en San Salvador y entre otros visitantes llegó él, con su guardaespaldas y motorista, a lo largo del espacio de tiempo que se mantuvo en la reunión y en un deliberado momento de “narcicismo, egolatría y vanidad”, reclamaba una respuesta a la interrogante de quien era el integrante de la promoción de bachilleres que más alto había llegado y tenido éxito devengando el mayor sueldo, nadie le contestaba dado que era evidente que quería escuchar su nombre pues entre otras cosas había sido diputado suplente, Presidente de CONCULTURA y le escribió los discursos a Paco Flores. No satisfecho con esto, más bien molesto ante la negativa a escuchar lo que quería oír, se levantó de la mesa y se fue. Pero el punto negativo no es ese, el problema es que se fue sin pagar, dejando a los comensales con la cuenta de sus 3 botellas de vino y 2 platos de bocas (un Sashimi y unos calamares). Ah, que Federico, aún recuerdo cuando salía en el programa “Tierra de Infancia”… como era de simpático…, quisiera saber cuándo fue que comenzó a escribir y brindar a sus adeptos líneas terminadas mezcladas con ambigüedades, así como también opiniones desacertadas acerca de contenidos ideológicos que al parecer no pudo comprender en algún curso de periodismo que posiblemente le dieron en alguna universidad privada. Por favor…a los que juzgan a mi amigo les voy a pedir que no se confundan ya que él es libre de opinar, a pesar que la neutralidad y la ponderación de las que presume son engañosas. Ah… que Federico, sus “sobrias y elegantes opiniones” tienen mucho de lavado de cara. No quiero pensar que es oportunista cuando muestra indignación por los desmanes hermenéuticos de la situación que se vive en El Salvador, al mismo tiempo que calla frente a la oscura intervención del partido ARENA, al que pertenece desde su juventud. Me conmueven los comentarios que hacen contra mi amigo, el sobrino del ex campeón de tenis de mesa; como cuando una poeta de nuestro país me decía que el consuelo que ella tenía cuando Federico estaba al frente de CONCULTURA era que "nadie puede ser peor que él" y otro amigo agregó que no puede existir corrupción, estupidez y partidarismo más grande que el de Federico Hernández. Como amigo del gran Federico Hernández Aguilar, les pido por favor que las aguas negras de la vida de Federico hay que dejarlas correr. Lo importante es retomar la luz que ha caído sobre la cloaca de su vida para así ver con objetividad todo lo malo que ya pasó y olvidar los robos y demás corrupción que hubo en su gestión como Presidente de CONCULTURA. Fede, no importa lo que digan, todavía es tiempo de cambiar, todavía es tiempo de que te veas en el espejo e integres todos los fragmentos de tu vida, no sólo aquellos que te convienen.
