Hi List,
The Vendor string in the packages built on OBS (also own installations) always points to openSUSE Build Service.
I tried to play with Macros in the Project Configuration (%vendor and alike) but I seem not to have caught the one that actually changes the vendor.
So I ended up changing the string in the source of OBS directly.
Of course this is terrible, as past proves I tend to forget to re-patch it after an upgrade, ending up with a 'wrong' repository.
Is there a way that this could be defined in the Project Config?
>From a source point of view I think it would be even better if this string could be moved to the BSConfig.pm (more obvious to find to change it).
Comments and tips are welcome ;)

Hi everybody,
Currently my OBS is running on OSS 10.2.
I remember in the past there were some issues with moving it up to later versions due to signd (package signing) not working (I think it was
something with digest signing of pgp... I might be wrong here).
Now OSS 10.2 is out of cycle, the machine should finally be upgraded and I would like to go to 11.1 of course (x86_64).
Is there anything special to take care of? Will signing work? Anything else I need to know?
Thanks for your input!

Hi,
a short Discussion on the IRC channel inspired me to ask this question
to all on the mailing list:
- Who knows what Download on Demand is inside OBS
- Who uses the Cross Development Feature for ARM architecture already
now (although OBS 1.5 is not yet officially released)
- Who of you is using Pre Release Packages for OBS from
openSUSE:Tools:Devel or openSUSE:Tools:Unstable
Feedback is very welcome to improve usability or potential Bugs.
Kind regards, Martin Mohring

Hi all,
Got a Ubuntu packaging problem... I´ve specified debhelper as a
build dependency in debian.control and <myprojectname>.dsc , but I still
get
dpkg-checkbuilddeps: Unmet build dependencies: debhelper
The package is home:rincewind23/xmlcopyeditor.
I tried following the instructions here:
http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service/Deb_builds
But the first problem I've run into is this debhelper problem. If I
remove the debhelper dependency, all the dh_* scripts aren't available,
and it fails there.
Cheers,
KEv.

Hi,
I'm occasionally using OBS and it is great. I have not much time for that so
don't blame me if I'm completely wrong.
I was thinking about some package template support and library of such
templates. With such feature adding packages should be easier and more
correct.
For example I want to add KDE4 Plasmoid. I would just select appropriate
template in library, add sources and easily add missing package specific
dependencies.
Similar templates can be done for Xwindows application, KDE3, KDE4, GNOME,
special plugins etc.
If I think it further, that can be done quite easily without major
modification to current system. That template can be empty package from a
special project which can be copied into user's project. That means few
packagers would create and maintain several packages and it would be checked
by others.
In future it could store only diffs and could be changed massively.
Thanks for reading down here

Hello @all,
My name is Gabriel Franco and I currently help on the marketing list with
Portuguese translations. I read today the call for contributors and I'm really
interested, I was looking for a way to help openSUSE project with some kind of
development and I think this is a good opportunity to get some mentoring and
put my skills to work for openSUSE.
So who wants to show me around?
I have web development experience with Java, PHP, Ajax so I think learning
Ruby on Rails might not be bad.
Hope I can be useful,
Best Regards,

Hi,
its a while ago that QEMU support was committed to build. Is there some
documentation available how to use that with OBS.

Is there a workaround for
Bug 430965 - brp-check-desktop for translation must not be enabled for third party repos in OBS
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=430965
This is stopping my project from building in openSUSE 11.1.
thank You.

Help I have a problem getting 64 bit peless packages to build. It
started out building successfully with 64 bit. And then....
I have a package, peless, that uses the the boost libraries.
Specificly, libboost_filesystem. Recently, it failed to build for
Mandriva 2009. This failure occured because mandriva uses the newest
version of the boost library, version 36.
In version 36 the include file for Boost::Filesystem reference the
new libarary boost::System.
Since all distros will eventually use boost version 36 or later, I
must address this problem.
I therefore added the line
AX_BOOST_SYSTEM
to configure.ac and the
I added $(BOOST_SYSTEM_LIB) to my peless_LDADD in Makefile.am
This worked for all my 32 bit distros.
In the older distros that were still using earlier versions of boost,
./configure figured out that boost::System did not exist and did not link
to libboost_system......
Mandriva 2009 32 bit figured out that boost::System did exit and successfully
built.
HOWEVER, all my 64 bits packages failed to load. ./configure failed.
Here is a sample error message:

The above problems do not occur with out my mods to configure.ac and Makefile.am.
Can anyone figure out this bug? Unfortunately, I am between jobs and
can not afford to buy a 64 bit computer to test this on. I am using
suse build service.
The computer that I ran autoconfigre and automake was a 32bit one,
but the ./configure is being done on suse's 64 bit servers.
Help help help.
Thank You.
don't worry about mandriva 2007, there seems to be and unrelated dependancy
problem there.
also don't work about opensuse 11.1, it is afflicted by this bug:
Bug 430965 - brp-check-desktop for translation must not be enabled for third party repos in OBS
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=430965
I must find a workaround for this or wait for it to be fixed.
