Hi all,
since some time I used to build the hylafax+ package for openSUSE.
Just for the 11.1 release I get the error message after all compiles went OK:
Quote:
.. running 01-check-debuginfo
... testing for empty debuginfo packages
... running 02-check-gcc-output
... testing for serious compiler warnings
(using /usr/lib/build/checks-data/check_gcc_output)
(using //.build.log)
... running 03-check-binary-kernel-log
... running 04-check-filelist
... checking filelist
hylafax: "/etc/sysconfig/hylafax" is not allowed anymore in SuSE Linux.
System halted.
/quote
Anybody an ides what has changed? and what has to be used instead?
Thanks!

no, it's a problem in the source code of hylafax.
What's your project name ?
I can look if there is an easy patch which should then submitted upstream (to
the developers) so that they fix there code.
The build-service is getting pretty picky about clean code nowadays....

peless gets a have choice expansion error for Debian_Etch:
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=peless&project=home%3Apelli…
have choice for libstdc++-dev needed by libboost-dev:
libstdc++2.10-dev libstdc++6-4.1-dev libstdc++6-dev libstdc++5-3.3-dev,
have choice for libstdc++-dev needed by libsigc++-2.0-dev:
libstdc++2.10-dev libstdc++6-4.1-dev libstdc++6-dev libstdc++5-3.3-dev
The previous version built without problem on the system used by the
debian people even though a similar ambigutiy exists:
http://packages.debian.org/sid/peless
How are such ambiguities dealt with in the build service?
Is it the Build-Depends: line? If so does the one in the .dsc
file or the one in the debian.control file the one that is
operative?
Is there any other way to tell it to which version to use?
Is it possible to have "different .dsc files and debian.control
for different system similarly to the way that one can have
different .spec files for different systems? i.e.
"foo-Fedora_Extras_4.spec" for rpm based systems so
"foo-Debian_Etch.dsc" or "debian-Debian_Etch.control" for
debian?
Thank You for answering my questions.

Hi all,
I'm building a package which builds fine on openSuSE variants, but when
I try to compile it on Ubuntu (tried repositories 8.04, 8.04:Multiverse,
8.10, 8.10:Multiverse), I get an expansion error:
nothing provides libwxgtk2.8-dev
According to http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/allpackages, it's in
universe. According to osc ls -b -r standard -a i586 Ubuntu:8.10 | grep
-i wxgtk, it's not in the Ubuntu repositories on OBS.
Someone on IRC suggested that I may need to open a bug to get this added
to the repositories - is this the case, and if so what do I need to put
in the bug report?
Cheers,
KEv.

Hi buildservice users,
a totally different approach. An enthralling read.

Hi,
finally, later than expected, but now we have another Build Service 1.5 rc
release.
All important fixes, esp from backend and build script code have been
backported.
Special thanks to Martin Mohring fixing our init script fixes again !
We have new tar balls at
http://developer.novell.com/wiki/index.php/Special:Downloads/opensuse/1.5
and new packages in openSUSE:Tools project.
Please note that you need also the new build.rpm or the scheduler will not be
able to start nor kiwi builds will really work within XEN.
We do still work on more examples to build images and products with OBS. My
hope is that we can do the release on FOSDEM.
have fun !

Thanks, I got it working. I couldn't see any difference (other than
ordering of lines) so I copied your .dsc and .control files over, then
edited them to point to my source files. I'm getting further before the
build breaks now - but now it's breaking because of things I can
understand and fix :)
Cheers,
KEv.

Status round
============
poeml:
* python 2.6 causes problems on large file uploads with osc.
This affects not instances behind iChain like our official
instances. We expect an online fix for python
* new osc release.
Hüwe:
- Analysis of scheduler crash for download on demand when meta data file is
missing
Martin Mohring:
- fixed: rc obs script and added sysconfig environment, log/run dir
configurable, checked into svn
- fixed: rpmmd .rpm filter for arm, checked into svn
- fixed: openSUSE 11.1 packaging, dependencies, python-kid
- support: Dominque has now a 11.1 based OBS server/workers completely
running
- support: Jan Simon has build a first package for Maemo 4.1
- packagaged and tested openSUSE:Tools:Devel/obs-all-svn @ svn trunk -r 6169
- tested: OBS @ ARM: Fedora 8 now works
mls:
- Fixed dependency calculation problems with kiwi images.
- Improved Debian dependency handling (supports ~ version now correctly)
lrupp:
- Updated inst-source-utils package to support s390 non-network
installations.

- Fixed Live Log issue in web client works again.
(Caused due to changed javascript rails handling)
- Discussed with Klaas and Christopher package database integration concepts.
jcborn:
- Submitted new kiwi 3.09 package together with Marcus.
All known issues for SLE 11 builds are solved with that release.
- Submitted also new kiwi inst source plugins.
Bugfixes and improved return value handling (output of called

openSUSE:11.1:Compat Project
============================
We have currently problems in stable release base projects (like
openSUSE:11.1) that some packages in openSUSE GA version breaks compilation
for some packages.
Options are:
1) Modify GA packages. (bad because the original ones are missing than)
2) Always build against :Update repo (bad because of lacking backward
compatibility and significant increased load on the schedulers).
3) Create another :Compat project with handselected fixes.
The cleanest way but users need figure out the difference of another
project.
Coolo said after the meeting that he is fine with 1) in some cases. So a minor
number of people may still be forced to use :Update, like python database code
users in the case of 11.1. But we think this is acceptable.
Decision: We will update brp-desktop-check in openSUSE:11.1 and avoid :Compat
project.
